Taxation as Extortion
A neutral point of view would admit that there is a diversity of perspectives on the subject of taxation. Among those perspectives is the *fact* that a great many people regard it as criminal in nature and a direct euphemistic example of extortion. The fact that it is legal in many regimes does not invalidate this opinion. Wars have been fought over the subject for this very reason. I suggest that rather than simply fighting over whether the section should be included in the article, that you instead suggest a compromise wording which neutralises whatever your unspecified concern happens to be. I'm open to suggestion, and if you look back through the history of this section, you'll find that we've already gone over this before. The section in question was modified accordingly to accommodate those concerns. I'm going to revert your changes yet again. I suggest you provide a more specific complaint about the wording, or [suggest how to] edit it accordingly, rather than simply knee-jerk removing the entire section repeatedly. Frankly the ideological tug of war over this is becoming tiresome to say the least.
Walid Khazen Page
You have reverted a sentence I have deleted from Walid Khazen wikipedia page. The sentence you have added back is wrong information and the reference you are stating have NO information on this. So not sure which reference state the following on line 19 "before he was deported and the embassy closed due to his illegal activities" because in all of the references that you have provided there is no such information. Please update your reference that show that the information you have added is correct in regards of "before he was deported and the embassy closed due to his illegal activities." or if you cannot find a reference please delete the sentence as it is incorrect information [User:khazen|khazen](talk/contribs) 18:22, 14 September 2017
Re: Learn Larp LLC
Hey there! My reversion was in regards to you draftifying the article unilaterally while it's pretty close to being okay. I think an AFD would be more appropriate. Either way, we'll see where it goes. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ --PureRED | talk to me | 19:33, 13 September 2017 (UTC)

Typo on a page I made which you reviewed
Hey there! I made my very first Wikipedia page today and I've already made a mistake. I wanted to make a page for Hofmeister (which is a kind of beer) and I ended up naming it Hofmesiter. I was wondering if you would be able to change the page title as I don't have page title changing privileges (yet).
If you can do this, I'd greatly appreciate it. If not (or if you're too busy), I'll change it when I get page title changing privileges.

New Page Reviewer Newsletter
Backlog update:
- The new page backlog is currently at 14304 pages. We have worked hard to decrease from over 22,000, but more hard work is needed! Please consider reviewing even just a few pages a day.
- Currently there are 532 pages in the backlog that were created by non-autoconfirmed users before WP:ACTRIAL. The NPP project is undertaking a drive to clear these pages from the backlog before they hit the 90 day Google index point. Please consider reviewing a few today!
Technology update:
- The Wikimedia Foundation is currently working on creating a new filter for page curation that will allow new page patrollers to filter by extended confirmed status. For more information see: T175225
General project update:
- On 14 September 2017 the English Wikipedia began the autoconfirmed article creation trial. For a six month period, creation of articles in the mainspace of the English Wikipedia will be restricted to users with autoconfirmed status. New users who attempt article creation will now be redirected to a newly designed landing page.
- Before clicking on a reference or external link while reviewing a page, please be careful that the site looks trustworthy. If you have a question about the safety of clicking on a link, it is better not to click on it.
- To keep up with the latest conversation on New Pages Patrol or to ask questions, you can go to Wikipedia talk:New pages patrol/Reviewers and add it to your watchlist.

DYK for Ally Law
On 19 September 2017, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Ally Law, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that the British climber and YouTuber Ally Law was globally banned from all sites owned by Merlin Entertainments after trespassing in Thorpe Park and climbing the Stealth roller coaster? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Ally Law. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Ally Law), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

AfC
On 4 August you declined Draft:Westernisation in Hong Kong for "Fix those section headers. MOS:HEAD. Then I will accept. The provisions in § Article titles (above) generally apply to section headings as well (for example, headings are in sentence case, not title case)" This is not an acceptable reason for declining an article. We decline articles that will likely deleted in mainspace not ones that just need minor fixes. It does nott have to be perfect, or even of high quality, just good enough to pass AfD. ` DGG ( talk ) 05:33, 22 September 2017 (UTC)
- @DGG: Been told off before by Huon. I don't touch AfC that much anymore, there's one thing I find terribly repulsive in an article, and that's bad formatting. But it is a bad decline nonetheless. 81.106.34.193 (talk) 05:49, 22 September 2017 (UTC)

Ivanhoe is incorrect. The Family moved to Carn av. Ivanhoe in '71 just before Genevieve arrived after Cate was born elsewhere in Melbourne. Ivanhoe is a bit of bio fluff/puff

Ecclesonthames (talk) 18:53, 25 October 2017 (UTC)
- @Ecclesonthames: Alright, but do you have a reliable source to support that assertion? My name isnotdave (talk/contribs) 18:57, 25 October 2017 (UTC)
Yes, I lived within 3metres of the article's subject for about 17y.
It's just one of those accreted errors that creeps into the record. Journos doing lazy research, read an article that says foo was raised/grew up in X, it gets repeated and repeated until one day, another lazy journalist or website decides to fiddle with their copy & paste and flips raised to born. CB was born in Melbourne (of which Ivanhoe is a sublocality, but she wasn't born there. Likely it was in a central hospital while the family was in Hawthorn, but nobody left alive who knows!)
- @Ecclesonthames: Ah, okay, but here's the gripe -- we need something that is published (see WP:PUBLISHED), which is like a news article or something like that. We could cite you, but we have a guideline called WP:BLPSPS, which states
Never use self-published sources—including but not limited to books, zines, websites, blogs, and tweets—as sources of material about a living person, unless written or published by the subject of the article
. So a good compromise to go on is finding a source that just says Melbourne. My name isnotdave (talk/contribs) 19:45, 25 October 2017 (UTC)- This one. Read Help:Referencing_for_beginners#Inserting_a_reference for a guide, and see if you can add it yourself. Have fun and good night! My name isnotdave (talk/contribs) 19:48, 25 October 2017 (UTC)
Well I think I qualify as I'm named innit.
But you do two seconds googling on the search terms "Cate Blanchett" "Melbourne-born" and whacko
Just don't put my name on it :) like I said I get stalkers ;)

Do you have pro-Russian views? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 100.37.74.249 (talk • contribs)
- It is irrelevant to what you and I think. What you did was change content but kept the old reference, which meant that the content misleads readers as to thinking the BBC source says that. My name isnotdave (talk/contribs) 19:17, 7 November 2017 (UTC)
- That's fair. I'll go ahead and update the references then. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Doubloons (talk • contribs)
- Actually, I have some questions. With the BBC source, why did you make the decision to write "claimed by Ukraine" instead of "denied by Russia"? In that very source, there is a sentence that reads: "The Kremlin has repeatedly denied Ukrainian and Western accusations that Russia has sent tanks and troops to the region to help the separatists." I'm not trying to grasp at straws or start any sort of argument, I'm just genuinely curious. The same can be said about the Reuters source immediately after that one wherein it is stated, "The Kremlin denies it is involved in the conflict, which has killed over 4,300 people.". Also, an issue with source 16. It cannot possibly be attributed to Ukraine. It's not a response or claim made by the government of Ukraine, it's a video clip taken from a news airing by Russian state-owned television network Russia-1 and posted on a Ukrainian website. I believe that presenting source 16 as a source for any sort of Ukrainian claim is dishonest at best. That source should certainly be revised. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Doubloons (talk • contribs)
- @Doubloons: I have no idea. I wasn't the one who wrote that. I'm just a boring recent changes patroller who saw someone do a classic mistake of changing referenced content to something else without changing the reference to reflect new content. Since you are here to discuss I'll actually read the source in question (why don't I do this all the time???), I think you are right here -- but I think since it states both, it might be best to say both.
- Also, please sign your posts. There's a big message at the top of the edit window telling you about this and indent them, you'll note that the increasing amount of colons has some sort of effect as how this paragraph is displayed in reader mode. My name isnotdave (talk/contribs) 20:11, 7 November 2017 (UTC)
