This is just a quick reminder that the round ends this Friday, May 29, 2009.
I wanted to let you guys know the current standings. If you are very close, but not close enough, work as hard as possible these next two days. Pool leaders are listed as usual, and under the 10 wildcards, are competitors that are still fighting for a spot. Also, if you currently have any un-reviewed GAN's up and you'd like them to be reviewed and counted for this round, you must place them on the appropriate thread of the WikiCup talk page.
In the evening, we'll share dinner and friendly wiki-chat at a local sports bar. This has been an automated delivery by BrownBot (talk) 00:57, 28 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Hi all. Round 2 is officially over, and we're very pleased with the results. The lowest passing score was over 200! We are very impressed with the last minute pushes to get a spot, which many of you did through mainspace editing your butts off for the last week or so. We really hope that those of you who did a lot of mainspace editing this time around will take some of that and turn it into good and featured content next round.
The pools for Round 3 will be up soon; the round starts tomorrow, June 1, 2009. As always, nominations that were nominated last round but not passed yet, may count for this round. Hope to see you all working very hard, as you are down to the Top 16, and it's going to take a lot to make the Top 8!
Those of you who were eliminated and no longer wish to receive this newsletter may remove your name from this list. If you were eliminated, but are still looking for some fun editing competition, check out User:Shappy/Amazing Race Wikipedia which starts in July.

Please vote on the featured article status of this article, as it was promoted to FA quite awhile ago, and FA status requirements have changed. The above list was merged into the List of universities in Canada.
Use the Outreach welcome template and extend a welcome to new users who are writing about Saskatchewan.
Biographies
With father's day upcoming, focus is on writing up some biographies on some notable Saskatchewan people. Please categorise these with one of the sub categories from Category:People from Saskatchewan and use the talk page banner and check off Saskatchewan=yes as biographies are harder to trace for inclusion than other Saskatchewan titular articles. With such categories-banners being used, the articles are more likely to be found and expanded by other Saskatchewan users. Take some time to find biographies of Saskatchewan folk on wikipedia currently and categorise-banner them as well.
Saskatchewan B Class articles and Importance ratings
An opportunity to Be bold and find out what is required to raise an aritlce past B class into GA or FA. Some information is included below about how to raise an article to B-class
For B-class articles the pre-requisites have been posted also at a few wikiprojects for the minimums required for B-class before advancing on to GA. Some wikiprojects offering B class outlines are Military History FAQ, Ships WP FAQ and WP UK roads The criteria for B-Class have been tightened up with the addition of a rubric, and are now more in line with the stricter standards already used at some projects.
The new C-Class represents articles that are beyond the basic Start-Class, but which need additional references or cleanup to meet the standards for B-Class.
A-Class article reviews will now need more than one person, as described here.
Please add new articles and as the newsletter acquires new information an update will be sent out to all subscribers signed up on WikiProject Saskatchewan Subscribers

The article you nominated to become a good article has passed the criteria necessary to accomplish the said feat. It has become the 334th good "road infrastructure" article, as seen on the good article page listed above. Great work! Hello32020 (talk) 21:49, 11 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Wow, what a big start to Round 3! We already have people past the 50 point mark, in one week. We can tell that this round is going to be tight, and we'll likely see every Top 8 contestant with over 500 (maybe 400) points by the end of this round. Keep working hard! – weburiedoursecretsinthegarden, iMatthew : Chat , and TheHelpfulOne

Turns out last week's newsletter was never sent out. Sorry about that! Since we already had it done, we are sending you both. This newsletter is the one for this week though. Anyway, we're seeing you guys working really hard. There are a few of you over 100 points in the first two weeks. Also, we have switched Ottava Rima from Pool D to Pool B, and Shoemaker's Holiday (who has withdrawn) from Pool B to Pool D. Scorpion0422 is more than likely to withdraw before this round ends, because he will be inactive next round. That would leave 2 contestants in Pool B. So, to make things fairly even, we have switched the two contestants. Sorry for all of the confusion!
Finally, we know it's very early, but you can already sign up for the 2010 WikiCup, here! We want to get everything ready way in advance for next year. So we opened the list up, and we'll start working things out in September/October, most likely. Information is all on the page, and you may leave any questions on the talk page. So go sign up before your favorite flag is taken! 'weburiedoursecretsinthegarden, iMatthew : Chat , and TheHelpfulOne

Thanks for the heads up, but it's alright, I redid the code to handle articles being in up to 4 topics when we first discussed this waaaaaay back in time. Glad to see you're fulfilling the plans though! :) rst20xx (talk) 23:05, 15 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Oh bloody hell. I don't think the system can take any more. Well it could but the code would just be horrifically long and also beyond 4 I think there will be a bit of a debate as to whether this is right or not. I think we need to work together to work out a solution to this - rst20xx (talk) 11:39, 17 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
This is for your marvelous improvements to SR-103 that bring it up to the caliber of NYSR articles; I appreciate the time you've taken away from New York to help us out here on this article. Thanks again - CL — 17:09, 16 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
It won't hurt for me to do some more help for New Jersey. At the current time, GAN has a long backlog and I have nothing to really rush for with the County Challenge, as no one else seems to really be participating. Dough4872 (talk) 00:23, 17 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Hello, Mitchazenia. You are receiving this message because you are listed on the participant list of WP:NYSR. I am conducting an inactivity check on behalf of the project to see if the project still has an active editor base. The status column on the participant list will be cleared today, and to remain a listed member of the project, you must update your status on the participant list (preferably using the terms "Active", "Semi-active", or "Inactive") which is located here. Those who do not update their status after one week (by the night of June 25) and those who put inactive as their status will be removed from the list. If you have any questions, please leave a message on my talk page or at the "A smorgasbord of topics" section on WT:NYSR. Thank you for your understanding and your time. – TMF12:30, 18 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I'll agree to him reviewing your GA's, however myself of another judge will go through to see if the review was accurate, and everything checks out. As long as they are "good" reviews, I don't see a problem with it, being that nobody else will review them. – (iMatthew • talk) at 18:29, 23 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
It'd be better if you did, IMO. Just let him know that he can review these again, but I'll be checking his reviews. – (iMatthew • talk) at 18:36, 23 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for letting me know that. I had really wanted to review your GAN's to clear the almost two-month-long backlog for transport articles. I will make sure to look at every aspect clearly and not just push them through. However, I cannot review some of them I have made major contributions to, such as Maryland Route 284 and Pennsylvania Route 737 (I actually created 737 a long time ago as a stub). By the way, I have been working on improving NJ articles. Dough4872 (talk) 18:46, 23 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
We can continue to work on making the book for NJ highways. However, I am not sure if its going to be possible to get every route's article to GA-class. There are some very short routes such as New Jersey Route 59 that seem impossible to expand to get to GA. I will try my best though to get as many articles as I can to GA. Dough4872 (talk) 22:58, 23 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I assume the book you're referring to is Bridges over the Delaware River? If so, I'm afraid I can't help. No obituary or death notice appeared in any of the papers whose archive I can access for this time period. In my opinion, there's no particular problem with referencing the book, but if you desperately want another cite for the material your best bet is to find a local newspaper that was publishing in the period. You'll have a heck of a time finding anything that way, though; if you're not in the area I don't recommend attempting it. Cool3 (talk) 04:10, 28 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Amidst summer festivals, tourism and agricultural activities, the July newsletter is out amongst us. While you are out and about, take a festival photog, or photograph a visit to the park, or perhaps a flax field. Perhaps, add an article about your favourite festival or Saskatchewan tourism destination, increase what is online about our national, provincial or regional sites.
Dominion Day now known as Canada Day is celebrated July 1, 2009. Please help develop articles about our members of parliament articles, and National Historic Sites in Saskatchewan!

Two articles relating to roads have been locked due to edit-warring. Please remember that rule applies to all users regardless of their status. Risker (talk) 04:52, 2 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Hi. I'm posting here to request that you refrain from such edits as this. It is the consensus among more and more Wikipedians that applying such labels, even in cases where they are accurate, tends to increase the heat, add fuel to fires, and distract from the project of encyclopedia-building, or in this case, approving an admin candidate. Regarding "oppose" votes in RFAs, please consider what is written at WP:TYFYV. If you want to discuss this, I'm certainly willing to do that. Just let me know. Thanks. -GTBacchus(talk)17:05, 4 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
