Hi you recently created a new page as Kantō Mountains but while reviewing I found out that there's already a page about Kantō region before. I just want to ask you if these two are different? Owlf (talk) 09:02, 25 May 2021 (UTC)
- Kantō Mountains means a mountain range. But Kantō region is one of area of Japan. So Kantō region is not a mountain range.--Miamiaim (talk) 09:07, 25 May 2021 (UTC)
Your move of Eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD
[edit]Hi! I've reverted your move of Eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD to AD 79 eruption of Mount Vesuvius, because there's been a recent discussion (Talk:Eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD#Requested move 6 January 2020) about the title. If you think it should be moved anyway, please discuss on the talk page first. --rchard2scout (talk) 13:32, 8 June 2021 (UTC)
- rchard2scout, OK. I added the discuss on the talk page. Please check. --Miamiaim (talk) 13:43, 8 June 2021 (UTC)
Relief location maps
[edit]Hi Miamiaim, I've reverted your changes to location maps in the earthquake infoboxes to versions without relief. The relief versions generally show major parts of the regional tectonics that are pertinent to understanding the earthquake in my view. Mikenorton (talk) 10:14, 15 June 2021 (UTC)
- Mikenorton, Ok. I am sorry. --Miamiaim (talk) 10:17, 15 June 2021 (UTC)
- Don't worry, the use of relief maps has become a sort of de facto standard for the reasons I stated above. If there's good reason for changing this, then we should discuss it at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Earthquakes. Thanks - as always using an edit summary helps others to understand the reasoning behind a change like that. Mikenorton (talk) 20:27, 15 June 2021 (UTC)
ANSS & ISC URLs in infoboxes
[edit]Hello Miamiaim, I've been filling the ANSS and ISC url parameters in the infoboxes of the post-1900 earthquake articles. You can do that too. Use these links to help find event pages ...
... and fill in the parameters yourself. Thanks. --Dora the Axe-plorer (talk) 14:12, 15 June 2021 (UTC)
- Ok, Thank you. Miamiaim (talk) 07:51, 16 June 2021 (UTC)
The article 1604 Arica earthquake has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
Circular referencing. The listed source is based on three sources, and one of them is Wikipedia.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Fram (talk) 12:07, 28 June 2021 (UTC)
- I didn't use wikipedia's source. So please tell me more.Miamiaim (talk) 13:01, 28 June 2021 (UTC)
- The source that you added contained information that was, at least in part, taken from Wikipedia, as it says at the bottom of the webpage. When marking the article for deletion, Fram mentioned circular referencing for that reason. Mikenorton (talk) 13:45, 28 June 2021 (UTC)

The page Ground failure has been speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This was done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appeared to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appeared to be a direct copy from https://earthquake.usgs.gov/data/ground-failure/ and https://earthquake.usgs.gov/learn/glossary/?term=ground%20failure. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition has been be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.
Please do not recreate the material without addressing these concerns, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If you think this page should not have been deleted for this reason, you may contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you may open a discussion at Wikipedia:Deletion Review Girth Summit (blether) 12:41, 5 July 2021 (UTC)
- Girth Summit (talk · contribs), However, It was from USGS website. I think contents by USGS are public domain.--Miamiaim (talk) 12:55, 5 July 2021 (UTC)
- That's a good point, however I didn't see any attribution in the deleted version of the article. See WP:PD - attribution is required even for PD works. I'll ping Moneytrees to see whether he can offer a word of advice on the appropriate tags. Girth Summit (blether) 13:04, 5 July 2021 (UTC)
- I asked around - the correct way to attribute the source in a case like this is to use the 'PD Notice' template within the article. I've restored the article, and added the template to each of the sources that text was copied from. Best Girth Summit (blether) 13:04, 6 July 2021 (UTC)
- OK, Thank you.
Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from Tōya Maru into Tōya Maru accident. While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content, disclosing the copying and linking to the copied page, e.g., copied content from [[page name]]; see that page's history for attribution
. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination. Please provide attribution for this duplication if it has not already been supplied by another editor, and if you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, you should provide attribution for that also. You can read more about the procedure and the reasons at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Thank you. DanCherek (talk) 13:00, 5 July 2021 (UTC)
Your move of high-profile earthquake articles
[edit]Hello, I've undone your move of Great Hanshin earthquake and 1923 Great Kantō earthquake because they are common names in English and moves of very high-profile articles like this should go through the requested moves process. Graham87 15:00, 15 July 2021 (UTC)

North Japan moved to draftspace
[edit]An article you recently created, North Japan, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:
" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page.
