Notability of Tseng Chih-chen

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Tseng Chih-chen, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Tseng Chih-chen seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Tseng Chih-chen, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Asiaseries2007.JPG

Thanks for uploading Image:Asiaseries2007.JPG. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 12:49, 5 November 2007 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Mop Girl Japanese Drama.JPG

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Mop Girl Japanese Drama.JPG. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. WebHamster 00:24, 1 December 2007 (UTC)

I noticed you were working on the above new article, and I tried to make some edits to improve (in my opinion) the grammar and other things, but since you are still making changes yourself, there were edit conflicts. So, I have decided to wait.

If after you're happy with the article, you would like me to look over it and perform a copy edit, please reply on my talk page and I'll be happy to do so. This isn't meant as a criticism of your spelling or grammar, just one or two issues of style that I feel I could help with. Sheffield Steeltalkstalk 21:43, 17 December 2007 (UTC)

Okay, I've made the changes I wanted to. I wasn't sure exactly what to do for the sentence about those who were "convicted and found guilty of war crimes" because the two things mean the same thing. I would like to have written that they "were tried and found guilty..." but I don't know what the source originally said, so I don't know how many were tried and how many of those were convicted. I hope you can provide a link to a source for the article; this will help enormously.
Anyway, I will stop interfering now and let you get on with your editing! Sheffield Steeltalkstalk 22:08, 17 December 2007 (UTC)

Notability of Hitomi Komatani

A tag has been placed on Hitomi Komatani requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Kannie | talk 00:05, 25 December 2007 (UTC)

Naming Convention on AKB48

I have read the guideline for the naming convention. Separate articles of AKB48 members were moved to the order of "Given Name" "Family Name" from "Family Name" to "Given Name" (such as Maeda Atsuko to Atsuko Maeda. I thought I should fix the links on the Template:AKB48 to meet those needs. How else are we supposed to get links to those articles unless you redirect? I could do [[Atsuko Maeda|Maeda Atsuko]] on the template. --Staka 20:55, 4 January 2008 (UTC)

AKB48 on Kouhaku Utagassen

I've noticed that you are uploading few screenshots of 2007 Kouhaku Utagassen featuring AKB48, and I was wondering if you could get a screenshot of Ono Erena, Matsubara Natsumi, or Oota Aika and post it to wikipedia? That would be great. --Staka 02:06, 5 January 2008 (UTC)

Alright, thanks a lot. I know it'll be hard to find one person out of 48 people. I think all 48 people did appear on Kouhaku Utagassen, even though some didn't sing the song at the recording of the single. Well anyways, I'm thankful for your AKB48 contributions so far, and that not many people are actually contributing to the article these days. --Staka 05:02, 5 January 2008 (UTC)

So I guess all 48 members didn't actually get to go on stage. I've downloaded and viewed your screenshot. I think it's Noguchi Reina from Team B in the screenshot. You may compare it yourself here: Image:Akb48teamB2007.jpg. It's still hard for me to tell since I haven't seen them actually sing on stage before. Many of them look different too, but I think Noguchi Reina looks most similar to the screenshot than any other members. --Staka 17:00, 5 January 2008 (UTC)

Sorry to wikimail you.. I guess it wasn't that necessary. Well the girl on the image is probably Oshima Mai. --Staka 22:06, 8 January 2008 (UTC)

Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Kojimaharuna102007.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, fair use media which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if not used in an article), per our Fair Use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Rettetast (talk) 11:01, 6 January 2008 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Kojima2007.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Kojima2007.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Free-License Images

Wow, you've received many notifications on your images. Japanese Wikipedia rarely has any pictures of famous people unless their license is gone.. (such as people in the history) Japanese Wikipedia has difference policies compared to English Wikipedia.. English Wikipedia is the only language on Wikipedia that allows fairuse images because of the law.

Anyways, I've searched up on the AKB48 Theater few hours ago, and I noticed that you are not allowed to take any pictures or videos there. Has or will AKB48 perform(ed) live at concerts by any chance? That would be the only way we can get a free-license image of them.. This is actually stupid. --Staka 03:43, 13 January 2008 (UTC)

4 days after users place the tag, bots (I think) automatically deletes those articles with tag on them. Why couldn't they at least read what we write in the discussion pages... --Staka 03:47, 13 January 2008 (UTC)

Some administrators took the cover images off from the AKB48 article (no images on there now). I read the 'Unacceptable use' section of Wikipedia:Non-free content (which they made me refer to) and it says that we are not allowed to use "an album cover as part of a discography, as per the above." However, you are allowed to put cover images in the separate articles, such as SET LIST -Greatest Songs 2006-2007. So if we are going to upload cover images, we should consider making separate articles for them. And also, screenshots of events are not under the 'unacceptable use' section, and yet they still delete because they think those are replacable. Take a look at Ai Otsuka#Music career.. lots and lots of screenshots from music shows (probably Music Station), promotional videos, and from a movie. What is the difference between our screenshots and the one of that article.. --Staka 17:33, 13 January 2008 (UTC)

Maybe Kojima's screenshot was the only screenshot of the Kouhaku Utagassen which represented a member at the event. It is stupid how your screenshot of that Zou no Senaka movie was deleted too.. even though that was meant to show her acting in that movie. Member's promotional images can be replaced.. but maybe only in the future when they do live concerts.
I've found many images taken at the AKB48 Theater (on Google Images), even though the official site states not to record anything there.. we can use those as long as we cite the sources (the link to where we got the images from). --Staka 20:10, 14 January 2008 (UTC)

I've uploaded an image from someone's blog to Japanese Wikipedia once without getting a permission but I cited the link to where I got it from. Well by referring to this page, you may see in the guidelines that you can't even get a permission (if only for Wikipedia use). However, that's only for copyrighted images. Bloggers upload images, which is considered as releasing those images to the public. It may say on the page that you only have to cite your source and the other things in the rationale template to upload. I'll upload an image later or in a day to see if I am following the guideline correctly. --Staka 02:17, 17 January 2008 (UTC)

Nevermind actually.. I asked my friend in Japan few days ago and he got the entrance picture of AKB48 Theater. He said it's still named "Akihabara48 Theater" (it should say under those bright signs): commons:Image:AKB48Theater.jpg. I guess it was taken with a cell phone. I don't know where to put it so feel free to put it anywhere on the AKB48 article. --Staka 21:18, 18 January 2008 (UTC)

AKB48 Members

The infobox you added to AKB48 article has 44 members listed (probably the same for the Template:AKB48. In the Members section of AKB48, there are 46 members listed. I guess we should update the infobox as well as the article, if the album says it. By the way, I updated the Graduated Members section... (the infobox has 7 graduated members listed... how would that work, with 44 members listed?) --Staka 17:56, 25 January 2008 (UTC)

Well the AKB48 members change frequently.. maybe we could remove the Members section and keep using the infobox. Infobox is usually nice to use, easier for people to look at. --Staka 18:54, 25 January 2008 (UTC)

Yeah, we rarely see any group with that many people.. --Staka 18:58, 25 January 2008 (UTC)

I guess that could work so we don't have to update both places. I was thinking of using that "[Show]" feature (that expands) but this could work as well. --Staka 19:12, 25 January 2008 (UTC)

There was no need to fix the infobox itself. I just did it.. take a look. I just have to update it referring to the Members section though.--Staka 19:29, 25 January 2008 (UTC)

Well actually.. the one you did was better. Redirecting to the members section gets the infomation of their birthdays and their birth place. I'm not sure actually. --Staka 19:33, 25 January 2008 (UTC)

I changed it back to your version. It looks much simpler and better. We'll just update the members section referring to the official site and such. --Staka 21:52, 28 January 2008 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on Template:Uni-President Lions Former Players and Numbers requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section T3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a deprecated or orphaned template. After seven days, if it is still unused and the speedy deletion tag has not been removed, the template will be deleted.

If the template is intended to be substituted, please feel free to remove the speedy deletion tag and please consider putting a note on the template's page indicating that it is substituted so as to avoid any future mistakes (<noinclude>{{transclusionless}}</noinclude>).

Thanks. --MZMcBride (talk) 21:14, 19 February 2008 (UTC)

AKB48

Hello again. I went to the Japanese Wikipedia and seen that many members have joined, and at the same time, left the group. I'll update that myself.. but, there are apparently 53 members now (or counting those members outside of the three teams, according to B.L.T. April edition). I just hate to see no one else updating the English article. Well anyways, I'm not sure if you have heard about the problems regarding special events and the posters that come with their 10th single, but DefSTAR thought it may be breaking the law.. (read the 10th single section on AKB48 article for more info; I placed it there). Should I put that, creating a new section or unnecessary? By the way, have you bought any of AKB48's stuff after the album? --staka (TC) 22:53, 6 March 2008 (UTC)

There is no article on the Japanese law, but there is a similar law in the United States, called the competition law or the antitrust law that prohibits this commercial strategy. Some experts say the photo album that lets fans go to the 10th anniversary AKB48 Theater event is also against this law. We could create a separate article then. I actually just download all AKB48 stuff.. for personal use. If I was in Japan, it would a little different.. I would be buying lots of stuff from them, or if I had a credit card, I could buy it online, but I can't. --staka (TC) 23:35, 6 March 2008 (UTC)
I am an immigrant.. why do you even ask? --staka (TC) 00:07, 7 March 2008 (UTC)

Re:Densen Uta

I'm sure we could create an article for it. We could also talk about the song.. how people who sing the song could die. --staka (TC) 15:20, 13 March 2008 (UTC)

Yes there is.. ja:伝染歌. It only has a brief plot, list of casts and staff, theme song information, and the external link. We can't really gather information from there. --staka (TC) 17:24, 13 March 2008 (UTC)
If the DVD is released, or when it is released, I may be able to get a screenshot. But that's unlikely. Anything else we can add to the article? --staka (TC) 17:32, 16 March 2008 (UTC)

That is probably me.. I added that whole appearances or filmography section. I seriously didn't know how to read the title.. yeah, better if fixed. Thanks for noticing. --staka (TC) 23:57, 17 March 2008 (UTC)

Re:AKB1じ59ふん!

Well by the way, there's no article for AKB1じ59ふん! even on ja. It was their regular show, but I think they renamed it or created a new show called AKB0じ59ふん!. We could probably create an article on the new one then. --staka (TC) 19:55, 18 March 2008 (UTC)

It should be romanized as AKB 1ji 59fun! rather than 1:59.. no where on the internet or on media has the show titled as "AKB1:59!" You can make a redirect though. --staka (TC) 22:30, 18 March 2008 (UTC)
Do you know the concept of the show? If there's not much to talk about then we could probably just write about it in a section of AKB48 article. If the concept of the show changes every episode, probably with many games, then we could still make its own article. So we'll just see after it starts. --staka (TC) 15:23, 22 March 2008 (UTC)
Show started on April 7, 2008. We may create the article if you are still interested, referring to Japanese Wikipedia (ja:AKB0じ59ふん!). --staka (TC) 21:35, 29 May 2008 (UTC)
I'm sure I can translate the concepts of the show. I'll create the article then you can add additional information if you'd like. By the way, Haruna from AKB48 appeared in Gokusen 3 episode 6 (I assumed you were a fan and wanted to see). --staka (TC) 20:44, 7 June 2008 (UTC)

Can you please create a new category: "CPBL players"?

Hello Kcchan,

Thanks for your effort in the Taiwan baseball. I think probably it's a good idea to create a new category: "CPBL players", with 2 sub-category:"Taiwanese CPBL players" and "International CPBL players". The article amounts should suffice such categories.

Thanks for uploading Image:Asiaseries2007.JPG. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

Orphaned non-free media (Image:IGT.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:IGT.jpg.

Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:34, 22 July 2008 (UTC)

Battle of Huwei

Dear K kc chan, Ten minutes ago, having just finished creating the article Battle of Tamsui, I saw in the revision history of the article Sino-French War a link to your article Battle of Huwei, whose existence I had not earlier been aware of. The similarities, I was amused to see, were striking. Like yourself, I started with what I had written about the battle in my article Keelung Campaign, but I intend to go well beyond that now I have got round to creating a separate article.

Given that I intend to significantly expand what I have to say about the battle at Tamsui, may I suggest that I merge the two articles, by assimilating useful new information from your article, such as the Chinese name for the battle, into my own article. I will be doubling the length of my article within the next few days, adding footnotes and more images, and linking it up with other Sino-French War articles, so I think it would be better to use my article as the basis for future work rather than yours. Also, I do think that the battle needs to be called Battle of Tamsui in English (though I agree that in Chinese it should be Battle of Huwei), as Tamsui is a more familiar name than Huwei for non-Chinese readers.

Have you done anything else on the Sino-French War that is not linked to the main template? If I had known earlier that your article existed, I would have worked on that rather than created a new one. Anyway, at least we now know we share a common interest.

By the way, I assume that you are Chinese from your name. Take a look at my Sino-French War articles in the English Wikipedia and compare them with those in the Chinese Wikipedia. There are remarkable differences, especially for things like French casualty figures (see in particular my recent revisions to the article Battle of Zhenhai). Would you be interested in translating some of the English-language stuff into Chinese for the Chinese Wikipedia version? I gave a talk recently on the Battle of Zhenhai to Chinese history students at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, and was fascinated to discover how radically the French and Chinese versions of the war differ. I thought then that Wikipedia offers a wonderful opportunity for cross-fertilisation. I can read Chinese but I'm not up to editing the Chinese articles, at least not yet. You, on the other hand, might be excellently placed to do so if you think my articles contain material of value.

Best regards.

Dear User:K kc chan,
Just to let you know that I've nominated Battle of Huwei for automatic deletion on the grounds of 'content fork'. I've gone through the article carefully and am satisfied that it does not contain anything not already covered in the article Battle of Tamsui.
I've recently been doing a lot of work on the article Japanese invasion of Taiwan (1895). Is this a subject in which you are interested? I've overwritten the contributions of a number of earlier contributors to this article, because their statements were not backed up by citations, often got elementary details like dates wrong, and sometimes clashed with those of other, reputable, authorities; but I'm sure there's a lot of valuable information on the Taiwanese militias that could go into the article if properly sourced. I just wondered whether this was an area that took your fancy?
Djwilms (talk) 04:18, 4 February 2009 (UTC)
Dear User:K kc chan,
I'd love to get further into the Japanese invasion of Taiwan from the Taiwanese point of view. As a matter of fact I've recently begun writing a book on the subject, which I hope might be welcomed in Taiwan if nowhere else. At present it's only 35 pages long, but I can see it expanding to a couple of hundred. 'Five Months of Freedom: The Rise and Fall of the Democratic Republic of Taiwan' I thought of calling it. The problem at present is that, although I read Chinese, I don't read Japanese, and although Davidson has over 100 pages on the subject, I would really need someone to look at the Japanese side of the story. I'll be discussing this with colleagues at the Chinese University of Hong Kong who specialize in Japanese Studies. First off, it would be interesting to establish whether there are any serious Japanese accounts of the invasion.
I've been following up the Chinese internet articles linked to the various English Wikipedia articles, and also their Chinese Wikipedia counterparts, so I've managed to get some information on the 'six stacks' and people like Lin Shao-mao, but I'm sure there's a lot more to be found. The difficulty, I suspect, will be sorting out fact from legend. Still, it will give me a good excuse to travel round Taiwan to 1895-related sites. In the meantime, do you know whether anyone in Taiwan has written a good history of the invasion in Chinese?
Djwilms (talk) 06:15, 4 February 2009 (UTC)
Dear User:K kc chan,
Thanks very much for the suggestions. I'll be over in Taipei in the last week of February, so I'll certainly make an effort to get the book on Baguashan while I'm there. I'll follow up the other stuff too.

Fair use rationale for File:TML logo.png

Thanks for uploading File:TML logo.png. You've indicated that the image meets Wikipedia's criteria for non-free content, but there is no explanation of why it meets those criteria. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. If you have any questions, please post them at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions.

Thank you for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 17:19, 30 December 2008 (UTC)

Battle of Changhsing

Do you happen to have the Chinese characters for the name of the Formosan commander Chiu Feng-yang so I can include them in the article Battle of Changhsing? I've searched on Chinese Wikipedia but haven't so far come across them.

Republic of China

Please note that the name Wikipedia uses for the state that occupies the island of Taiwan is Republic of China. If confusion is likely the term Republic of China (Taiwan) can be used the first time it appears. Please do not replace this phrase with Taiwan.

--Jitcji (talk) 11:45, 21 November 2010 (UTC)

--Jitcji (talk) 13:31, 25 November 2010 (UTC)

很快就有一位B1mbo回應我的更改了,在這裡。他寫的文字我從 It should be used only…… 開始到最後我看不太懂,意思應該是那面有太極的旗幟也應該留下來,但要用在什麼部份我就不太理解,希望您幫我看看,謝謝。--Jitcji (talk) 14:23, 25 November 2010 (UTC)

「不正確資訊的參考」,這是不是說要把那面旗留下來,用以告訴大家這是錯誤的中華足球隊旗之意?--Jitcji (talk) 14:27, 28 November 2010 (UTC)
