Replaceable fair use File:SORTA RTE MAP.png

Thanks for uploading File:SORTA RTE MAP.png. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information or which could be adequately covered with text alone. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. —Bkell (talk) 01:28, 17 September 2011 (UTC)

Comair destinations will still be served

I 100% know that, when we find out the carrier that each destination will be added to we can add it but we should not just blatantly right something that is 100% out of policy. Kairportflier (talk) 15:19, 28 July 2012 (UTC)

File:Pappos pseudo.svg missing description details

Dear uploader: The media file you uploaded as File:Pappos pseudo.svg is missing a description and/or other details on its image description page. If possible, please add this information. This will help other editors to make better use of the image, and it will be more informative for readers.

If the information is not provided, the image may eventually be proposed for deletion, a situation which is not desirable, and which can easily be avoided.

If you have any questions please see Help:Image page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 15:16, 2 July 2012 (UTC)

Cite templates' "access-date" parameter is deprecated. Use "accessdate" instead.

Hi, Justin W Smith. I noticed that you are using the "access-date" parameter with {{cite}} templates. That parameter is deprecated and should no longer be used. See Template:Cite#URL for up-to-date documentation. Please update your workflow accordingly. If this was added by some Wikipedia tool, please message me. Cheers, Jason Quinn (talk) 03:38, 27 August 2012 (UTC)

I'll try to remember that the next time I use the {{cite}} template. On a side note, the updating of "access-date" to "accessdate" seems like an ideal task to be performed by a bot. Also in this case, if the resulting citation had displayed a warning, I would've been aware that I was using a deprecated parameter immediately after submitting the change. (But perhaps, there's a good reason for not using a "bot" or displaying a warning for those using the deprecated parameter?) Justin W Smith (talk) 14:26, 27 August 2012 (UTC)

Request to photograph Comair headquarters

Hello! I have contacted you because you are in the category "Wikipedians in Cincinnati." I would like for someone to photograph the corporate office buildings, including the Comair General Office Building, the Comair corporate headquarters at 77 Comair Boulevard, and the building at 82 Comair Boulevard, both in Erlanger, KY, at Cincinnati-Northern Kentucky Regional Airport. Since Comair is shutting down on September 29, 2012, I would like for someone to take this photo as soon as possible. I do not want for the Comair markings to be taken off of the buildings. If you want to, please photograph the Comair buildings. Thanks WhisperToMe (talk) 04:34, 28 July 2012 (UTC)

I'm not much of a photographer, but I can make the drive over to the airport to take a photo. I notice that the building is essentially "between" runways at the airport. I'm not sure how close I can get w/o a security clearance. Justin W Smith (talk) 14:58, 28 July 2012 (UTC)
Thanks! I would try to get as close as possible. An example of an HQ photo at the airport could be File:Southwest airlines hq from east 2009-06-22.jpg - If it is impossible to get a shot of the buildings (or even if you can get one) if you notice a gate labeled "Comair" I would get that as well. As examples, see File:AAIB roadsign.JPG and File:HalliburtonNorthHouston.JPG WhisperToMe (talk) 13:47, 30 July 2012 (UTC)
Another idea would be to check to see if the airport offers a planespotting area which overlooks the runway. There was a photographer trying to snap a plane, and he accidentally got the Singapore Airlines HQ: File:SIA Boeing 747-400, Star Alliance livery, SIN.jpg WhisperToMe (talk) 14:09, 30 July 2012 (UTC)

Doing some search, I located the building location on Google maps - You would take South Airfield Road from Donaldson Highway and go on South Airfield Drive, in a tunnel under a runway, to get to the Comair buildings. It doesn't look like there are any gates in the way. WhisperToMe (talk) 14:42, 30 July 2012 (UTC)

After some more digging, I learned Comair had already left 77 Comair Boulevard back in 2011. But it is now at 82 Comair Boulevard. Also, I would still like to have a photo of 77 Comair Boulevard in addition to 82 Comair Boulevard. WhisperToMe (talk) 15:36, 30 July 2012 (UTC)
Comair has detailed directions on how to reach the HQ: http://www.comair.com/comair/cdj.portal?_nfpb=true&_pageLabel=cdj_pg_1005 - It doesn't mention any checkpoint gates. WhisperToMe (talk) 15:46, 30 July 2012 (UTC)

OK. Here are two photos that I took. Sorry, I should've gotten a photo of 82 Comair Boulevard as well. I'll try to make another trip out there within the next week.

Feel free to touchup these as needed. Justin W Smith (talk) 15:47, 30 July 2012 (UTC)

A photograph like this of 77 Comair Blvd would be better. I should've talked to the security guards about what I was doing; perhaps I could've gotten a closer photo. (More likely, they would've asked me to leave.) To get close enough to take a photo of "82 Comair Boulevard", I would certainly have needed to talk to security. (Taking these photos was no inconvenience. my wife wanted to go shopping in the Florence; I agreed on condition that we stop by Comair headquarters. :-) ) Justin W Smith (talk) 16:15, 30 July 2012 (UTC)
Thank you so much for taking these photos! I really appreciate it! I like the photo of 77 Comair that you took, but the angle you suggested would be nice too. Next time, please try to talk to security so you can snap 82 Comair Boulevard. Also, if you are interested in taking more photos, if you would like, see if you can get shots of the Cincinnati Northern Kentucky Airport welcome signs (if there are any) and/or terminal WhisperToMe (talk) 15:43, 1 August 2012 (UTC)

Justin, did you get a chance to photograph 82 Comair Boulevard? WhisperToMe (talk) 12:04, 28 August 2012 (UTC)

82 Comair

Justin, are you still interested in getting a photo of that building? WhisperToMe (talk) 02:04, 23 October 2012 (UTC)

Yeah. Sorry, the past couple months have been quite busy (with little time for me to spare, even on weekends). I'm not sure about the current status of the Comair buildings; but the next available weekend I have, I'll try to make the drive out there for another photo. Daniel J. Bernstein, Putnam competition

Hi, back in June 2011 you added this source for Bernstein having taken part in the 1987 Putnam competition. The source, however, speaks of one Daniel J. Bernstein of Princeton University. Did Bernstein attend Princeton at some point? If so, the article should mention this. If not, maybe this isn't the same Bernstein. --bender235 (talk) 16:29, 5 February 2014 (UTC)

His CV (http://cr.yp.to/cv/cv-20080915.pdf) states that he graduated from NYU in 1991. It's likely that he was at Princeton in 1987 and then transferred to NYU. I seem to remember that I found the "Putnam competition" claim in a less-than-reliable source (e.g., an announcement for a talk he was giving) and went to find a more reliable source for that information, which is what I cited. It's possible, but quite unlikely, that there was a talented undergraduate mathematics student at Princeton with the name of "Daniel J. Bernstein", while our "Daniel J. Bernstein" was studying mathematics at NYU. Justin W Smith (talk) 19:20, 5 February 2014 (UTC)

82 Comair Boulevard

Long time no see! I found out Delta Private Jets is headquartered at 82 Comair Boulevard. Do you have a chance to take a photo of the building? WhisperToMe (talk) 01:14, 6 September 2014 (UTC)

Hi, I was looking briefly though Wikipedia:Wikipedia editing for research scientists. If you'd be interested I think it could do with a bit of an update for consistency, clarity and conciseness. It only gets a few hundred views per year, but it might be useful to point to for some wikiprojects or even as an end point for the training guide for scientists. Let me know if you'd still be interested. T.Shafee(Evo﹠Evo)talk 11:18, 15 September 2015 (UTC)

Jurors for WikiScienceCompetition 2017

Hi. I can see from the information on your profile that you work in the academia. this is probably your publications profile.

I am looking for expert active wikimedia users with academic background and some bibliometric record (so I can prepare their wikidata items) to work as volunteer jurors for the next Wiki Science Competition. Originally I avoided countries with a national jury, like USA, but I have many life scientists so I'd like to balance the situation.

Would you be interested to join?

The jurors are not supposed to be all wikimedians, but we wish to promote the use of the images on the platforms and show that there is a continuum between the wiki-world and the academia. At the same time, I want all the jurors to show they are involved in the peer-reviewed process, so the uploaders can see they are students and researchers like them.

Let me know. The event starts on 01/11/2017 or maybe two weeks later. We can define the last details of the jury during the month of November, but we'd like to be almost ready in two weeks, in order to provide the challengers with a rough idea of the composition of the juries. There might be also possibility that one of the best profile will be promoted to the main jury, but this is a last-minute arrangement.

In any case, we can contact you next time if you are still interested but you can't join this time.

Also if you can spread the news around in your working environment, that would be great!

Regards.--Alexmar983 (talk) 14:33, 21 October 2017 (UTC)
