Infobox swimmer hidden text
Hey, Ian. I see you're working through American and Australian swimmers like gangbusters, doing a lot of needed clean-up. I wanted to alert you, however, regarding the NFCC hidden text warning regarding non-free images in BLP articles (see example here). The hidden text was intentionally added to the infoboxes of all living swimmers to help reduce the problem of IP users and rookie editors adding non-free image photos to BLP articles in contravention of Wikipedia's free-image policy. We want to keep that hidden text. Cheers. Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 18:34, 13 January 2015 (UTC)
- Got it. Thanks Dirtlawyer1. Cheers -- Ianblair23 (talk) 06:38, 14 January 2015 (UTC)
Hi. I've tried to fix some errors in the list. It seems the official Cricinfo record for the match in which Levi got the fastest century is incorrect as it says he got 117 of 51 balls 1 but the bbc report 2 and many others say it's off 45 balls including the other Cricinfo source you use in the lead 3. I would check through the other ones on that list to make sure there aren't any more errors. Cowlibob (talk) 14:33, 31 January 2015 (UTC)
- On second thought, sorry I made a mistake. Apologies. There is no error, just my lack of reading comprehension. Cowlibob (talk) 14:37, 31 January 2015 (UTC)

Thank you!
Thanks for making that navbox for electoral results - it was actually part of the plan when the pages were originally rolled out years ago, but I never got around to them! They certainly will make things easier. Frickeg (talk) 06:25, 7 March 2015 (UTC)
- @Frickeg: You are quite welcome Frickeg. I am going to created ones for the state election result pages as well. Cheers -- Ianblair23 (talk) 07:28, 7 March 2015 (UTC)

Got some free time?
Hey, Ian. In the last month, we've updated the instructions for Template:Infobox swimmer, and eliminated the redundant flag icon and duplicate links to country and sport in the embedded medals table. These changes have already been performed on the infoboxes for all 255 Australian and 660 U.S. Olympic swimmers, and I'm about two-thirds of the way through 217 Canadian Olympic swimmers. Given that there are something like 4,000 total uses of the Infobox swimmer template, that means only about a quarter of all swimmer articles have been updated so far. Please let me know if you have time to work on this, and ping me back. If you're interested, let's coordinate -- after the Aussies, Americans, Canadians and Brits, we probably should prioritize the Germans, Soviets/Russians, Dutch and French Olympic swimmers, and all former world record-holders. There's also some mop-up for Aussies who swam in the FINA world championships, Empire/Commonwealth Games, Pan Pacs, etc., but did not swim in the Olympics. Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 21:14, 6 May 2015 (UTC)

Navboxes
Thanks for trimming those unnecessary navboxes en masse. They always bugged me and I removed them where I came across them, but it's great to see someone finally go through and torch the lot of them. The Drover's Wife (talk) 12:18, 29 June 2015 (UTC)
- Not at all. It has been has bugging me so quite a while as well. So I just thought bugger it and went for it! The worst case that I have found so far was on the Brisbane City Council election, 2012 article. How on earth anyone thought that the navbox belong on that page I will never know. -- Cheers Ianblair23 (talk) 12:23, 29 June 2015 (UTC)
- As someone who is probably responsible for a lot of these through copy-pasting templates, my thanks also. Frickeg (talk) 02:18, 2 July 2015 (UTC)

Good day,
Last week i noticed that you removed navboxes in several sailing at the yyyy Sumer Olympics ... pages. Can you please explain why you made this change?
Thanks in advance, _/)_/)_/) ˷˷˷˷˷˷˷˷ _/) NED33talk 07:20, 5 October 2015 (UTC)
- Hi Ned, as per Wikipedia:BIDIRECTIONAL. I have going through each of the sport at Summer Olympics navboxes and have done a full cleanup which includes removing them from articles which aren't linked in the navbox. This is such the case for articles on individual events. For those articles, another navbox such as is used. I see that sailing has had many different classes over the years so perhaps combining similar events where possible into a single navbox would be best in sailing's case. Cheers -- Ianblair23 (talk) 07:44, 5 October 2015 (UTC)
- Hi Ian,
- Thanks for your reply. However such consistency in sailing events over the years is not really available within sailing._/)_/)_/) ˷˷˷˷˷˷˷˷ _/) NED33talk 08:31, 5 October 2015 (UTC)
Olympic art page move
Hey, Ian. It's never a bad idea to get feedback beforehand, but article moves like the one you mentioned on the WP:Olympics are usually non-controversial, especially when it is to comply with WP:COMMONNAME or another well-established naming convention like that for our Olympic events articles. You're an established editor with a good grip on those guidelines and precedents, so feel free to implement the move if you're reasonably sure there's no controversy looming . . . . Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 03:17, 10 October 2015 (UTC)
- Hi Dirtlaywer, thanks for the above comment. I just thought I'd throw it out there before I make the move. Cheers -- Ianblair23 (talk) 20:49, 10 October 2015 (UTC)

Navbox removal
You have removed the nave boxes for international athletics and Records in athletics and the like from a whole slew of articles. No discussion, no explanation. Why? Trackinfo (talk) 19:33, 16 October 2015 (UTC)
- Hi Trackinfo, I did cleanup of International athletics by removing links to the multi-sport events as these can be found on Athletics at multi-sport events. I then went through added some missing events to the template. I also fixed all of the redirects so that when it appears on a page it becomes bold. I then went and added the template to all of the articles were which are linked in the template. Finally, I am now in the process of the removing the navbox from the pages which are NOT linked in the navbox to conform with WP:BIDIRECTIONAL. Cheers -- Ianblair23 (talk) 04:54, 17 October 2015 (UTC)
Record redirects
Hi Ian. I've noticed you've been doing a lot of edits to change links to the record lists to the new "List of..." titles. These edits are not required per WP:NOTBROKEN – i.e. there is no benefit to the change if the original link is valid. If you believe there is a valid reason to change them, then a bot task would be a better (and much less laborious) route. Cheers! SFB 20:30, 6 November 2015 (UTC)
