...reverting

[edit]

HorsesAreNice, sorry to pounce on you again, but the few edits you made since "returning" are ...not good, again.

  • There is nothing wrong with linking to articles that do not exist yet, if there is a reasonable chance that the article will be created in the future. In this case, there is reason to expect so. Such links are called "redlinks" and are considered beneficial because they stimulate article creation. Adding a useful redlink does not constitute a reason to revert.
  • The other change the user made (removing the worded "eight /eight plus" form the infobox) is entirely uncontroversial and in tune with what should appear in infoboxes - abbreviated type information, no transliterations.
  • Your second revert comment implies that you are miffed that someone undid your revert, and you immediately reverted that with no other reason than "don't touch my stuff". This is not how it works on Wikiepdia. WP:BRD sets out the expected process: if there is a disagreement between editors, take it to the article talk page and establish consensus. Reverting back and forth is called edit warring and can get people blocked. In ANY case, you need a better, fact-based reason to revert than merely "I want my edit to remain"; and in fact, the other editor was the one following our layout guidelines here.

May I suggest that you spend some time getting familiar with Wikipedia conventions while doing something less potentially confrontational than recent changes patrol/"vandal" reverting? The possibilities for slipping up are just too large there for new editors. Consider picking some topics of interest to you, and expanding articles with new and sourced information. Housekeeping work here is actually more, not less, complicated than content creation. Don't rush into it :)

Adoption

[edit]

Hi HorsesAreNice. Here is some information on becoming an adoptee Wikipedia:Adopt-a-user/Adoptee's Area where an experienced editor can help you as you edit wikipedia. Best wishes Polyamorph (talk) 07:58, 13 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Restart at trot speed and you will learn along the way. David notMD (talk) 01:33, 17 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Less exuberance

[edit]

Maybe less exuberance (and fewer exclamation marks) in your edit comments. And if you are reverted, assume the other editor is right and see if it is a learning experience. David notMD (talk) 01:41, 19 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Adoption offer

Retiring

[edit]

You appear to have "retired forever" multiple times. When returning, please remember to remove the template, as I have done for you, because it can mislead other editors into thinking you're still retired. Thanks! Septrillion (talk) 22:27, 5 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Happy Birthday (coming up)

[edit]

I hope you have a fun birthday.

Listen, I see you've been wondering how you can contribute. I you keep logging in to revert vandalism, as you have now and then, that's really useful, because we need all the vandal fighting we can get. Sooner or later you'll find an article you feel you can contribute too, even just a little. One warning, though: we have a lot of rules about footnoting and reliable sourcing and stuff like that, so it's very common that a new editor's early contributions have to be reverted until they get the hang of things. If that happens just explain that you're new and ask for guidance. Good luck! EEng 04:24, 28 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Happy Birthday!

[edit]

I noticed your request about your upcoming birthday, and... Yea, happy birthday to you, I hope you'll have a great celebration and everything that you wish for will come true. Oh, and yea, I also noticed that you wanted to leave the Wikipedia - I hope you won't do that because Wikipedia always needs editors of all kind, even the ones who are only interested in minor corrections. You just need a little more patience (especially when learning about Wikipedia's rules, which Wikipedia has a lot of, but most of them are pretty intuitive!) and be more friendly towards other editors (even if they are actually vandals ;-)) and I'm sure you'll do great here! So once again, happy birthday and happy editing! Omgwtfbbqsomethingrandom (talk) 01:19, 1 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hurricane Irene retirement

[edit]

So I am not breaking any rules and I think that it was not irrelevant. The 3 main reasons are 1. Lots of other articles say the same thing. 2. It wouldn't hurt anybody. And 3. To add more info even if it's in parentheses can actually benefit people. What if people were doing research then its helpful. There's nothing wrong with saying "(which was retired in that season)" or something like that. We need to come to an agreement.Flasty Jam 2 (talk) 18:23, 7 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Flasty Jam 2:, we won’t come to an aggrement. And I saw one of your edits, vandalizing my note I made and you said I was disrespectful for adding the note. I’m just following the administrators’ rules. And perhaps, you should aswell. It is irrelevant because it is more trivia-related rather than wiki-related. HorsesARENiceRide me to my talk page 22:50, 7 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi HorsesAreNice. Flasty Jam 2, along with a couple other accounts, have been blocked for sock puppetry. As I suspect there is trolling going on here, I would suggest that you spend no additional time responding to whoever this is per WP:DENY. Thanks, Mz7 (talk) 16:16, 9 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hey! Come back! Just because you thought you made a mistake doesn't mean you're a bad editor! We all make mistakes, including I. Heck, I even thought I made worst mistakes. Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, we would like you to assume good faith while interacting with other editors, which you did not do on 2018 California wildfires. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Your not assuming good faith and it was announced today that 79 are dead not 82, if you read and keep up with the articles in the media you would realize your math is incorrect and by reverting three times you would be breaking 3RR which is a viloltaion and could result in a permanent account block, I don’t wanna report you or see anyone else report you, and by not explaining your revert your giving more evidence for people to report you, so message me on my talk page if you have any concerns or wanna hash this out before someone reports this TheKinkdomMan talk 07:09, 18 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

ArbCom 2018 election voter message

[edit]

Hello, HorsesAreNice. Voting in the 2018 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23.59 on Sunday, 3 December. All users who registered an account before Sunday, 28 October 2018, made at least 150 mainspace edits before Thursday, 1 November 2018 and are not currently blocked are eligible to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2018 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 18:42, 19 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

I came to Wikipedia to edit. Next thing I notice I'm blocked for sockpuppetry. Yes. I did abusively use multiple accounts, to be honest, but they're should have been more evidence than just looking at the confirmed sock's contributions. But I do apologise for abusively using multiple accounts and wonder how I can get unbocked for sockpuppetry. Can I wait 6 months or what can I do? But if you do unblock me, I'll continue to make useful contributions and not create any more accounts. Seriously, I promise. I've done it for 8 months. Was the block because the sock was created on the 8-month anniversary of my account creation or the contributions? Explain proof to me how I made another account, and please don't just provide proof because of my honesty. 🐴sARENiceRide with 🐎 to my talk🐴 page 00:43, 28 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

You were violating WP:SOCK two days ago, not eight months ago as you claim. And given the nature of the violation, there's no chance of unblocking. I strongly suspect this isn't your first account, either. Talk page access revoked to prevent you wasting even more of our time. Yamla (talk) 01:31, 28 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.
