Venom movie story - creator credits

Hi,

why do you think it is not necessary to mention that the Venom movie is based on two comic storylines written by David Michelinie who also created the character Venom? It's bad enough that the original creators of the marvel characters don't get a lot of recognition and financial compensation for coming up with these concepts in the first place, but to erase their contribution from a Wiki page that is full of details (of which roughly 50% could be deemed "unnecessary") is kind of heartless, don't you think? And for movie and comic book buffs this might as well be a very interesting and therefore necessary fact.

I have no relation to Mr Michelinie or Marvel Comics but I am a strong supporter of naming and crediting the original creators of the characters and stories of today's multibillion superhero franchises, everywhere where credit is due and possible.

So, I kindkly ask you to re-accept this contribution.

--Kon-el (talk) 11:54, 2 January 2019 (UTC)

It adds nothing to the knowledge of the film especially since the writer was not involved at all in the creation of the film. Readers on the film article just need to know the stories were the influence and can go to those article to learn more, such as their creative teams. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 20:34, 2 January 2019 (UTC)

Top ten lists

WP:FILMCRITICLIST is about accolades (awards/nominations). There are lots of articles with Top ten lists sections. I mentioned WP:FILMCRITICLIST because it's the reason the content move to List of accolades received by Black Panther (film) has been reverted. --77.173.90.33 (talk) 22:42, 2 January 2019 (UTC)

By the way, assuming for a moment it's not just about awards and nominations, and given the amount of articles with Top ten lists sections, perhaps either the manual of style should be changed, or we can get to consensus to include the overview in the article about Black Panther? --77.173.90.33 (talk) 22:48, 2 January 2019 (UTC)
Never mind (reason). --77.173.90.33 (talk) 23:01, 2 January 2019 (UTC)

Update to scripts by AlexTheWhovian/Alex 21

Information icon Hello! This is a generic message created and copied to all editors using scripts that I have created. As I have recently changed my username from "User:AlexTheWhovian" to "User:Alex 21", any scripts that I have created that are listed at your common.js page may, at the moment, no longer be working. To fix this, simply update all occurrences of "User:AlexTheWhovian" to "User:Alex 21"; see here for an example. All the best! -- /Alex/21 11:05, 4 January 2019 (UTC)

"everything was basically in my own words or quoted when I pulled exact phrases"

[1][2] Do you seriously not understand that what you have been doing is inappropriate? If you keep doing this you will be blocked from editing. I'm not "targeting [you] for no apparent reason regarding all of this" -- believe me, if I wanted to use copyright violation as an excuse to "get at" other users, you'd be way down the list (you're probably the member of the "MCU cabal" with whom I had the least beef until I noticed the plagiarism issue), and I would have been doing so a long time ago, since I realized how serious this copyright thing is some thirteen months ago. Anyway, please recognize that what you have been doing for the last seven years is unacceptable and promise to do everything in your power to clean up the mess you have created, or you will be blocked; there is simply no other way to deal with problems like this. Hijiri 88 (やや) 01:25, 8 January 2019 (UTC)

@Hijiri88: I've very aware about copyright on Wikipedia, and I've very aware that I'm not a user who [has] repeatedly committed copyright violations in articles (as CCI defines) that would necessitate a claim at WP:CCI. please recognize that what you have been doing for the last seven years is unacceptable Are you serious? Trying to frame all of my edits as being copyright violations is completely baseless and wrong. And pulling up one of my early edits to try and justify this as a rampant problem with me since I've started is completely out of context and frankly misinformed. In regards to the specific edit you're pointing out at Black Panther, you're trying to paint my actions like I've gone out of my way to blatantly do this, have not assumed good faith give my editing experience, and have jumped to the harshest conclusion. Yes, I'm sure some of my edits could be adjusted from what I initially create them as, I'm not denying that. But it is never with the malicious intent you are suggesting I'm doing. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 03:09, 8 January 2019 (UTC)
I've very aware that I'm not a "user who [has] repeatedly committed copyright violations in articles" (as CCI defines) that would necessitate a claim at WP:CCI I would call taking a source that says Billy Russo is still deep in recovery for the face-slicing beatdown delivered by Frank Castle in the season one premiere, still suffering from brain damage, memory issues, and self-pity. The makeup team was meticulous in placing scars on Billy's face where they realistically would be after the fight with Frank., and adding the text The makeup department worked meticulously to realistically place the scars on Billy Russo's face, who is still recovering from his injuries and is suffering from brain damage, memory issues, and self-pity. to our article, which you did eight days ago, a copyright violation as well as the text that was rev-delled from Black Panther article. Are you serious? Trying to frame all of my edits as being copyright violations is completely baseless and wrong. I haven't found a single instance of one of your edits in this search where you added a significant amount of original prose that wasn't (a) an expansion of a list of data taken from a source into full sentences, (b) consisting primarily of direct quotations marked as such, or (c) including some degree of uncomfortably close paraphrasing or plagiarism. Now, you have made a lot of other edits that couldn't possibly be plagiarized (minor formatting tweaks and the like, reverts, talk page comments, etc.), and nothing in what I wrote above implied that I was "framing" these in light of your plagiarized prose: the "what" in "what you have been doing for the last seven years" refers specifically to these plagiarized edits, which is why I didn't say "everything you have been doing for the last seven years". And pulling up one of my early edits to try and justify this as a rampant problem with me since I've started is completely out of context and frankly misinformed. This kind of misrepresentation really doesn't look good for you, Favre. I was clear that the reason I went back to that one early edit was solely to find out how far back this went, not to "justify" anything; what you did two days ago on the Black Panther article was enough to "justify" checking your contribs for other plagiarized content, but I very clearly did not do that; I removed the text you copy-pasted two days ago, had it rev-delled, then went through part of the Black Panther article in the hopes of sweeping it, because I love that film and want its Wikipedia article to be clean of plagiarism, and the Defenders article because it's currently at GAN, and the two worst instances of plagiarism both turned out after I marked them to have been added by you; it was only after that point that I looked through your contribs. Believe me, if I were in the game of fabricating copyvio cases to "get at" users I "don't like", there are at least three other editors of the MCU articles who would be above you on my "hit list" -- it was only after I found three separate instances of you plagiarizing text (and none by Adamstom or TriiipleThreat or Alex21) that I figured it must be a problem with you specifically. In regards to the specific edit you're pointing out at Black Panther, you're trying to paint my actions like I've gone out of my way to blatantly do this, have not assumed good faith give my editing experience, and have jumped to the harshest conclusion. I don't think I implied you "went out of your way" to violate copyright; I think you've just been lazy or ignorant of our copyright policy. I think your saying "I've very aware about copyright on Wikipedia" is a lie that you think makes you look better, but in reality if taken on its face would mean you have serious WP:CIR issues that need to be dealt with.
Seriously, take the hint here. I'm trying to help you, but you are digging yourself a hole that you're not going to be able to get out of. When you are caught having plagiarized text (repeatedly, over multiple years -- even not counting the South Park thing from 2012, the Defenders thing was three years ago, the Punisher thing was eight days ago, and the Black Panther thing was two days ago), you can either (a) apologize, and promise to do your utmost to do better in the future and to try to clean up all the plagiarized text you've added over the years, or (b) dig your heels in, deny, and get blocked to prevent further damage to the project. I'm begging you to do the former.

I'm back, sort of

Hi Favre, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! Sorry I disappeared so suddenly while so much was going on, things got a bit hectic over here. I have just made my way through my month-long watchlist and intend to continue contributing where possible, but I fear that I will have limited time to do so for the next while. I am also tiring of the mistreatment that we receive from certain editors to the point that I would rather stay away than have to face it again. I can see that you are facing an extreme form of this at the moment, and just wanted to say that the copyright claims are absurd and if there is any way I can help out with that then please let me know. My next steps will be to try get through the open GA reviews we have, and continue to keep an eye on my watchlist where possible. Thank you for all of your continued hard work, adamstom97 (talk) 22:49, 8 January 2019 (UTC)

Tangent discussion
Ha! "extreme" "mistreatment" "from certain editors"? Adam, attacking other editors for enforcing the copyright policy, and defending copyright violations, is not a good idea. You clearly did not see the blatantly copy-pasted content on the Black Panther article, as it was rev-delled before you noticed this, but it's quoted in full here -- if you still think, after examining that, that the "the copyright claims are absurd", then you might need to be added to the list of potential violators, since you clearly don't understand our close paraphrasing policy. Hijiri 88 (やや) 23:05, 8 January 2019 (UTC)
I stand by my comments. This is an encyclopaedia, it is our job to add the sourced information not write our own. With a few other editors making some adjustments to the initial addition, as is common, you would get content that accurately reflects the original source but is worded different enough to not be too close for comfort. You yourself could have given a small c/e to the areas that you felt were copied too much from the source. But I know the simple, good faith solution to a problem is too much to ask of you. - adamstom97 (talk) 00:05, 9 January 2019 (UTC)
Adam, if this were about making bad-faith copyvio accusations in order to "get at" users I "don't like", it would be you I was targeting, not Favre, with whom I have historically had relatively very little beef. (I actually went back to see if it was him, you or another user who made the "Doctor Strange is a Good Article! You can't touch it!" argument back in 2017, which would have put that article next on my list for close paraphrasing sweeps if it had been Favre, but it wasn't.) Whether I would have personally found it more satisfying had I clicked through all the Wikiblame findings and found it was you or TriiipleThreat or Alex who added the plagiarized text is irrelevant, though: all of them came back to Favre, so it's Favre on whom I filed the CCI request.
And FYI, I did "give a small c/e" to some of those areas;[3][4][5][6] the problem is that I don't want to spend the rest of my life scrubbing through every edit Favre has ever made, and it doesn't seem like you are willing to help pick up the slack. I assume you will now retract and apologize the personal attack that You yourself could have given a small c/e to the areas that you felt were copied too much from the source. But I know the simple, good faith solution to a problem is too much to ask of you.?
Hijiri 88 (やや) 01:40, 9 January 2019 (UTC)
You assume wrong. I don't believe for a second that you are acting out of good faith here. Perhaps I would be more inclined to believe so if you had not spent years labeling us a "cabal" and attempting to have several of us banned simply because we stand our ground when you try to make bad changes to articles we frequent. Favre has spent years doing positive work expanding and maintaining Wikipedia, working in with the wider community, being a propenent for progress in our guidelines while helping support new users who wanted to join in, and if you were truly looking for the "good faith solution to [this apparent] problem" then your first step would not be to accuse him of copyright violations, report him as such, and then start blatantly WP:HOUNDING him. You have proven my point for me. - adamstom97 (talk) 03:29, 10 January 2019 (UTC)
@Adamstom.97: To be clear, I labelled you a "cabal" once, facetiously, almost two years ago, and it has been thrown in my face dozens of times since. You can act like a cabal -- as denying copyright violations that are there for all to see, instead insisting that I'm fabricating the incident as an excuse to attack you, even though if I were attacking anyone it would not be you but Favre, looks like -- or you can accept my peace offering and let it all go; why not do the latter? Hijiri 88 (やや) 06:49, 10 January 2019 (UTC)
@Adamstom.97: Hey Adam! Same to you! All good on the disappearance, it happens knowingly and unknowingly. I actually was unable to be on most of this week myself, (and would just like to state for the record the reasoning wasn't because of what has been happening recently but that did play some part). Since I'm just getting back myself, I know I have some catching up on what's been going on. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 16:24, 12 January 2019 (UTC)

DYK for Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.: Slingshot

On 13 January 2019, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.: Slingshot, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Marvel Comics' chief creative officer Joe Quesada made his directorial debut with the first episode of the digital series Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.: Slingshot? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.: Slingshot. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.: Slingshot), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Busy again

Hey, I hoped to get some more done before I got busy again but it looks like that may not be the case. If my time is going to be limited over the next while, I just wondered if you wanted to note anything here that you feel I should prioritise when I do have time. By the way, I have not yet watched the second seasons of Runaways and Punisher. - adamstom97 (talk) 19:02, 21 January 2019 (UTC)

@Adamstom.97: I'd just say the 2 GA reviews we have. I've just finished the second season of Runaways, and have not gotten to Punisher either. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 16:31, 23 January 2019 (UTC)

Edit war

Hi, I just looked at the history of Talk:Spider-Man:_Far_From_Home, where you've been engaged in an edit war, crossing the bright line with three reverts within 24 hours ([7], [8], and [9]). Even taking into account your WP:TPNO-based argument about "unacceptable behaviour" which you brought up on my user talk page, this is extremely strange (and other editors [10] seem to see it the same way.) Please reinstate the discussion you deleted, else I'll have to consider the appropriate noticeboard. Airbornemihir (talk) 04:38, 21 January 2019 (UTC)

(talk page watcher) @Airbornemihir: An editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page—whether involving the same or different material—within a 24-hour period. -- /Alex/21 05:48, 21 January 2019 (UTC)
@Alex 21: Thanks for the reminder. Since there wasn't a 4th revert, it would seem wp:3rr does not apply in the strictest sense - and the noticeboard may not be appropriate, anyway, since these reverts happened 3-4 days ago. Still, Favre1fan93 would be well-advised to consider why they are coming so close to the bright line on a talk page, where any reverting at all is frowned on. Airbornemihir (talk) 06:10, 21 January 2019 (UTC)
I have consistently and accurately explained myself and my reasonings, for which I still stand by those and your forum-style posting. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 16:33, 23 January 2019 (UTC)

Constantine in the arrowverse

Hello Favre1fan93 Before we get into another editing war over adding "Retroactively added to the Arrowverse" to Constantine on the List of television series based on DC Comics wiki page I figured i would talk to you here first so we can try and resolve it here. After the elseworlds crossover the 1990's flash got "Retroactively added to the Arrowverse" added to it in the notes section and i would like to ask how this is fine but adding that to Constantine is not, you like to link to talk pages that say just the same version of the character is part of the Arrowverse just not the show i don't see how this is any different from the 1990's flash as only one character from that show has shown up in the Arrowverse, so by your own logic that show is not part of the Arrowvesre and should not be listed as such. I don't mean to sound disrespectful but you contradict your self here when you let one stay but not the other.

I would also like to add how is only one character from Constantine showing up in the arrowverse not set it in the same universe? as most shows that crossover only have one character show up on the other, as most times its really hard to schedule multiple actors to crossover due to actors schedules. some examples i have are Warehouse 13, Eureka, and Alphas all crossover with only one character at a time crossing over onto the others, Characters from Alphas never show up on the other shows but one character from Warehouse shows up on Alphas by what you say about Constantine this would mean that Alphas and Warehouse 13 are not set in the same universe even tho they are because it's only the same version of the character that crossesover. Family Matters and Full House are set in the same universe when Steve Urkel shows up in Full house one Character crossesover. The Pretender and The Profiler are set in the same universe when one character crossesover. these are just some examples. If Constantine is the only character from the Constantine show to ever show up in the Arrowverse it still means the Constantine show is part of the Arrowverse. every show that crossesover with another sets it in the same universe with that other show whether or not one or more characters crossover.

In conclusion I believe that "Retroactively added to the Arrowverse" should be added to the Constantine note section of the List of television series based on DC Comics wiki page.

TheMBProject (talk) 05:27, 25 January 2019 (UTC)

@TheMBProject: We have reliable sources stating only the character of Constantine is in this universe, as well as quotes from the producers and Matt Ryan stating as such. Simply having the character come over does not automatically the entire series does as well, especially since the deal to get Constantine was only for the character. This is not like the 90s Flash in Elseworlds, in which we, the viewer, specifically see his world/Earth, the character makes reference to his world/Earth, and the producers confirm this, giving us our "real world" necessity to make such claims. So no, Constantine is still not part of the Arrowverse at this time. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 18:07, 25 January 2019 (UTC)
@Favre1fan93: Ok I see what you are talking about with the 90's Flash.

Something people tend to forget is that at least for awhile the CW very much treated the Constantine show as part of the Arrowverse and aired the show on the CWSeed to hype people up for Constantine on Legends telling people to go watch his solo act, that with them saying that its the same version of the character is something but I guess this still isn't much as its not an official statement but it's something. Use of infobox template

Hey, Favre. In case the nomination above goes through, should we use {{Infobox}} directly in the article, instead of {{Infobox Inhumans IMAX}} or {{Infobox television episode}}? The template documentation does, after all, state "In general, it is not meant for use directly in an article, but can be used on a one-off basis if required." If you think it's a good idea, I've prepared the infobox below. Let me know what you think! -- /Alex/21 05:36, 2 February 2019 (UTC)

@Alex 21: Thanks. Yeah, I was thinking the code should be preserved to reimplement as a hard code should the discussion lead in that direction. It's a bit boggling to me why other editors are not seeing the use of this, despite its singular use. Anyways, I'm still gong to be offline for a bit I think, just popping on now for a few. Stranger Things Move Ready to Go

Hello! After further editing on the season pages for Stranger Thins, I believe they're now ready to enter the mainspace. I don't have the authority to move them, but I was wondering if you can initiate the move if you also agree the it is now warranted? Thank you. SomethingToTellYou (talk) 19:08, 16 January 2019 (UTC)

@SomethingToTellYou: I'd be happy to move them, but I think you should start an official split discussions on Talk:Stranger Things so other users can weigh in. See WP:PROSPLIT if you need help with the procedure. Let that run its course, and if there is consensus at the end of it, I'll make the moves. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 03:18, 17 January 2019 (UTC)

MCU Recurring Cast & Characters Table

Hey,

Could you explain the rationale for repeating the word "films" on the franchise column headers which is redundant because it's already established that we're talking about franchises. Whether it's one or more movies, the section establishes them as franchises. Avengers films and Avengers franchise is the same thing. So, why do we need the redundancy? I want us to avoid unneeded redundancy especially since the table is getting bigger and bigger with more movies coming up. If you change a valid edit to your preferred version, I think you should at least explain your reasoning in the edit summary. Saying what you changed and calling your version proper isn't the same as explaining WHY – if that makes sense. Starforce13 14:44, 23 July 2019 (UTC)

MCU Thanos

Hello, I was pointed in your direction as I was debating on if I should start editing Draft:Thanos (Marvel Cinematic Universe). I don't want to waste my time if there's no chance it'll never be moved to a main page. I just don't know what the guidelines are for character pages. I know there are articles for most, but not all of the original 6 Avengers. My thinking is that Thanos is the big bad of the Infinity Saga and he's notable as he has become well known in pop culture, especially since Infinity War, so I thought if it were up to me he should have a page, but I know it's not up to me. I'm hoping you might have an idea about if it is worth my time editing. -- Zoo (talk) 03:53, 5 August 2019 (UTC)

RIP MCU Spidey

Tragic isn't it? Because I believed Far From Home needed to gross over 1 billion just so Marvel wouldn't lose access to Spidey. Could you please update Marvel Studios accordingly, and also remove clutter from the Character rights section? --Kailash29792 (talk) 03:11, 21 August 2019 (UTC)

MCU TV

Hey, I saw that you just started working on an update to the TV article splitting it into Marvel TV and Marvel Studios. I've been working on an alternative split in some of my sandboxes that I am almost ready to suggest, splitting-off into Netflix shows, Hulu shows, and ABC shows, with the beginnings of a more minimalist overall list here. I had started making a Marvel Studios/Disney+ page, but when Phase 4 was announced I ended up integrating all that work with Draft:Phase Four (Marvel Cinematic Universe) since it looks like those articles are about to move to the mainspace. - adamstom97 (talk) 21:57, 24 August 2019 (UTC)

The Amazing Spider Man 2: Marvel Entertainment

It's stated that the movie is not present in the page because Marvel's participation rights to the film were purchased out by Sony, thus they were not involved in the film as previously despite the Marvel logo being shown in the movie. Is there any source of that? If not, I don't see a reason not to add the movie to the page. 191.5.198.236 (talk) 20:43, 22 September 2019 (UTC)

WP:TV Notability

Hey I'm not as familiar with notability guidelines for WP:TV as I am with WP:FILM. I know WP:TVSERIES says "Television pilots which have not been picked up to series are not normally eligible for Wikipedia articles — in most cases, a television series is not eligible for an article until its scheduling as an ongoing series has been formally confirmed by a television network or streaming provider" but does that mean shows that are ordered to straight to series without a pilot can be considered notable?--TriiipleThreat (talk) 15:19, 30 October 2019 (UTC)

@TriiipleThreat: Hey! Long time no talk. Yes, they can be. However, the TV project (and myself) tends to follow the spirit of WP:NFF as well, that something must actually be filming to get an article. So if it's something new, the best bet would be to get a draft going for it. If it's something that was ordered straight to series and never got produced, then general notability guidelines should be used to see if it warrants an article (a la Marvel's Most Wanted, Marvel's New Warriors, the failed Aquaman pilot etc.). Hope that helps! - Favre1fan93 (talk) 16:17, 30 October 2019 (UTC)
It does, thanks for the tip! I hope all is well.--TriiipleThreat (talk) 16:55, 30 October 2019 (UTC)
Glad to help! Yeah, trying to get back on here when I can to make some edits. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 02:57, 31 October 2019 (UTC)

The IP user at Spider-Man FFH and Falcon and the Winter Soldier

He just won’t stop reverting and will come up with any excuse to discredit his opponent. Can you help me report him? He’s already gotten Disruptive editing and 3RR warnings--Simmerdon3448 (talk) 23:56, 25 November 2019 (UTC)

"Long wikibreak"

So reads your talkpage header. Are you done with it? Or are you having PC access on vacation? Sorry for the caustic tone, that's not what I wanted to talk about. I was wondering if you noticed I created Draft:Fadeout (Arrow), which is in need of further sources. Because I posted here but you didn't respond, yet you did to this. --Kailash29792 (talk) 05:04, 26 November 2019 (UTC)

I'm still selectively editing on here. Wikibreak probably isn't the best term. I saw about the draft yes, but I'm not really looking to contribute to episode specific content for the Arrowverse. The crossover sure, but not really anything else. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 03:05, 27 November 2019 (UTC)

Source for the Nash Arrow tag

Are you sure you can’t just cite the episode itself? Template: Cite episode exists for a reason, right?--Simmerdon3448 (talk) 05:01, 4 December 2019 (UTC)

Yes, but third party sources are always preferable. Also WP:NORUSH, the episode only finished airing on the East coast of the US 2 hours ago. There's bound to be a source tomorrow. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 05:02, 4 December 2019 (UTC)
I’m just worried no sources will since it’s last in the line of 4 and most writers would find it redundant, especially seeing as it’s the only one to air after the show the scene is native to--Simmerdon3448 (talk) 05:05, 4 December 2019 (UTC)
Well if it does come to that, then yes we can use the episode itself to cite the info. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 05:22, 4 December 2019 (UTC)

"Captain America: The Serpent Society" listed at Redirects for discussion

An editor has asked for a discussion to address the redirect Captain America: The Serpent Society. Since you had some involvement with the Captain America: The Serpent Society redirect, you might want to participate in the redirect discussion if you wish to do so. DCYTU Earth 157-List If DC Multiverse Worlds

Ok I'm the source I was sent by the creators to add an article if you had wat had all the series you would know now please let me add my article so I can get paid. TopsDailyYT (talk) 00:13, 11 December 2019 (UTC)

@TopsDailyYT: That is not how Wikipedia works. Editors can't be the source for content being added. You need reliable third party sources to back up your claims being added to article, of which you have not done. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 03:42, 11 December 2019 (UTC)

Happy Holidays!

Have a great rest of your holiday season! If you do not, then you should know that I have acquired a very particular set of skills on my time on Wikipedia. Skills that make me a nightmare for people who do not enjoy themselves. If you do not have a great time this year, I will find you... And I will block you.

But seriously, happy holidays. DarkKnight2149 22:03, 25 December 2019 (UTC)
