Pratt's Texas Battery
Worked on 10th Texas Field Battery (aka Pratt's Texas Battery and sometimes Hynson's Texas Battery in 1864 and '65), but haven't found anything in the 1861-mid 1862 that the battery did. Have any sources you've run into say anything about this? That's a pretty sizable gap in unit history that would be nice to fill. (It was brigaded under W. H. Parsons for at least part of 1862, if that helps). Hog Farm Talk 04:02, 12 September 2021 (UTC)
- @Hog Farm: See 12th Texas Cavalry Regiment and [1] William H. Parsons and [2] 10th Texas Field Artillery at Handbook of Texas. That's all I know. I have the Confederate Military History of Louisiana and Arkansas, but not Texas. It might be in the Texas book. Djmaschek (talk) 20:22, 12 September 2021 (UTC)

British general officers killed French Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars
Hi, this is a bit out of the blue but I know you as someone who has made a distinct impression on French Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars content here, and am hoping you might be able to assist me. I am currently creating a list of British general officers killed in the French Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars, and believe I have produced most of the information needed for the Napoleonic side of things.
While I would appreciate any comments you might have on that, my main question refers to the French Revolutionary Wars. I have not managed to find any sources listing general officer losses as some do for the Napoleonic Wars, apart from the mentioning of Sir Ralph Abercromby. Was he truly the only loss of the general officer corps in this period, or are there just no obvious sources for this information?
Thanks, Pickersgill-Cunliffe (talk) 22:23, 2 April 2022 (UTC)
- See Barnard Foord Bowes. Off the top of my head there were also John Moore (British Army officer), Thomas Picton, John Le Marchant (British Army officer, born 1766), Daniel Hoghton, Robert Craufurd, Henry MacKinnon, and Andrew Hay (British Army officer) in the 1800-1815 period. For the 1792-1799 period all I can think of is John Mansel. Robert Anstruther (British Army officer) died in the field, but not in combat. Djmaschek (talk) 22:54, 2 April 2022 (UTC)
- Thanks. I've got all of those apart from Mansel, who so far is the only 1792-1799 general I can find too! I've got Anstruther down as dying from pneumonia, by the way. Pickersgill-Cunliffe (talk) 23:10, 2 April 2022 (UTC)

1st Texas Battery
I get a ping every time something links to 10th Texas Field Battery since I created that one, so I noticed this creation. I think the link you're looking for with Richmond is Battle of Richmond, Louisiana but I wanted to double check before adding. Hog Farm Talk 21:32, 7 July 2022 (UTC)
- Thanks for the info. I missed that one. I can use it in the 18th Texas Infantry Regiment article. Blessington's account says the Texans were "slaying them by hundreds", while Mower's report in the OR says total Union casualties were 1 killed and 8 wounded. The article 1st U.S. Artillery, Battery F has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
Company-level military subunits such as batteries are usually not notable.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. MKFI (talk) 07:06, 2 May 2023 (UTC)

History of military logistics
Could I trouble you for a review of History of military logistics at Wikipedia:WikiProject Military history/Assessment/History of military logistics? You don't have to review the whole thing, but you are more knowledgeable about the early modern era than I am. Hawkeye7 (discuss) 01:15, 19 August 2023 (UTC)
- @Hawkeye7: I read it from the Introduction through the 19th century section and made very few minor edits. It is very thorough. I have just two comments. (1) In the 16th & 17th century section, paragraph 3, I noticed that the article stated that bronze and brass were used for artillery pieces. I only know about 1780-1860 artillery, but it is my understanding that guns were commonly referred to as "brass" when they were actually made of bronze. (2) During the American Civil War, the use of railroads, navigable rivers, and saltwater transport to supply armies was crucial. Only raiding forces and small armies (~10,000) could operate in areas without ports, rivers, or rail lines (Trans-Mississippi and East Tennessee). Djmaschek (talk) 22:40, 20 August 2023 (UTC)
