Hello, Anonymous101, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

Debatepedia‎

Just letting you know that Debatepedia‎ qualified for speedy deletion under A7 (see WP:CSD and WP:N). I'd also like to point out that another article on the same topic also was deleted after an AfD a few months back, see Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Debatepedia. To pass speedy criteria, the article has to at least attempt to explain the notability. And to pass our inclusion guidelines, you need to reference multiple, independent reliable sources. Wikinews is not a reliable source according to our policy. I've copied the content below so you have a chance to rework it. If you think you can create an article that pass muster, then feel free to re-submit the article. If you have any questions about notability or our deletion policies, feel free to ask. Or you are welcome to contact me if you want me to take a look at a draft revision of the article (before you take it live again to check if it meets our WP:WEB requirements). Hope this helps.-Andrew c [talk] 14:25, 8 April 2008 (UTC)

Merger

Thanks for posting the airline story- in fact, someone has got there first and it is currently being debated on the candidates page - Wikipedia:In the news section on the Main Page/Candidates. Feel free to chip in to the discussion. Badgerpatrol (talk) 17:20, 15 April 2008 (UTC)

As far as I'm aware, no-one else has created an article on the merger. Could be that it might be more appropriate to include the material as a sub-section of one of the airlines' pages instead, but this can be discussed. Badgerpatrol (talk) 17:32, 15 April 2008 (UTC)

Image Copyright problem

Hi Smallbig!
We thank you for uploading Image:Guardian america logo.png, but there is a problem. Your image is currently missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. Unless you can help by adding a copyright tag, it may be deleted by an Administrator. If you know this information, then we urge you to add a copyright tag to the image description page. We apologize for this, but all images must confirm to policy on Wikipedia.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks so much for your cooperation.

GA Review

Dear anonymous101, I was looking through the GAs under development at the moment (this is how I learn) and noticed that you had started one at Talk:Treaty of Axim (1642). The new process is to have the GAs in a subpage so that its' history, development etc is easy to follow. I have copied your review to Talk:Treaty of Axim (1642)/GA1 to start it off. It does mean for the moment that your first review will appear twice in the subject talk page, but on completion this will cease. Hope all this is ok Edmund Patrick confer 07:40, 10 June 2008 (UTC)

Just a check-in...what is the status of this review? It seems the article has been on hold for awhile with no response from the article's editors. If that is the case, I think it is safe to fail it for now. Cheers. Nikki311 05:04, 19 June 2008 (UTC)

Question

Resolved
 – replied

When I want to cite a website as reference and the website does not contain an article with specific author but it's created from an organization which rules do I follow?

Thank you.

Stavros Kotsakis (talk) 20:16, 21 June 2008 (UTC)

I am not 100% sure of the meaning if your question but I hope this answer is helpful:
  • To cite an offline source you can jst add one of these templates or <ref>Info about offline source</ref>
If you want to use {{cite web}} without an author for a web source that is fine as the author paremeter is optional.
I hope on of these answers your questions. If not, plese tell me on my talk page.
Thanks,

Resolved
 – image is used

Thanks for uploading Image:Federatión Española de Orientación (FEDO) .png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Semen of the Sun

Resolved
 – References added, article not deleted

Semen of the sun is the page (now a stub) of a rock band. The band meets the criteria of Wikipedia:Notability (music) (It has been the subject of multiple non-trivial published works whose source is independent from the musician/ensemble itself and reliable). Find out for yourself at http://www.rocking.gr/, http://www.avopolis.gr/ etc (query "semen of the sun" @ Google, Yahoo! or some other search engine). ktr (talk) 08:33, 28 June 2008 (UTC)

I have removed the sppedy tag but if you want it to be kept you mught want to add an assertion of notablity and independent sources. Under the speedy deletion criteria, it can be deleted if the article do this. Anonymous101 (talk) 08:56, 28 June 2008 (UTC)
Could you elaborate on assertion of notablity and independent sources? I'm still quite new to WP. ktr (talk) 09:01, 28 June 2008 (UTC)
Assertion of notability is saying why the band is notable in the article and independent sources are sources (added to the article with the <ref> tag) that are not from the original person (See WP:RS) for more info. Anonymous101 (talk) 09:19, 28 June 2008 (UTC)

Greg Goepfert

Greg Goepfert is a former International Champion (Okiknawan International Karate Championships 1989) a former World Champion (1989 Karate World Championships, Japan) a former National Champion and Has won IL, FL and LA State Championships.

If you check his web sites, www.iimaa.net and besttactical.com you can get more detailed information on Greg Goepfert. If you look at the photo gallaries you will see Mr. Goepfert with Chuck Norris, Royce Gracie, Mike Swain and many other World Champions. Plus you can see Mr. Goepfert with some of his many trophies and medals.

Mr. Goepfert is vey real and has several schools with hundreds of students. We are attempting to create a page for Mr. Goepfert to show his accomplishments. We are still working on the Wikipedia site to add more information.

Please reconsider the inclusion on Mr. Goepfert on your site.

Thank you,

Ryan Stoll

Goep714 (talk) 14:50, 8 July 2008 (UTC)

Thank You for your reply. If it is true that he is world champion it would be great if you could provide Reliable sources to back up your claim. If you do this it is likely that the article will not be deleted. Thanks again, Anonymous101 (talk) 15:06, 8 July 2008 (UTC)

Greg Goepfert

I believe that we have put down very reliable sources as citations. Mr. Goepfert is also a Deputy/Instructor for the Palm Beach County Sheriffs Office (FL). They are the 12th largest Sheriffs Office in the Country and he lead there Defensive Tactics. Mr. Goepfert also is an adjunct instructor with the Palm Beach Community College Criminal Justice Academy. You do not run or work as an instructor for these agencies if you are not credible.

Thanks Again.

Goep714 (talk) 16:38, 8 July 2008 (UTC)

From what I can see none of the pages listed as references mention Greg. As a result they do not seem to be verifying the facts. It is possible, however, that I am mistaken. If that is the case please reply with a link to a page with does mention Greg's status as a former world champion. Thanks, Anonymous101 (talk) 16:45, 8 July 2008 (UTC)

Greg Goepfert

What we have is a Uechi-Ryu Magazine Oct 1989 edition. I am not sure if you can just Google it? It was 1989 in Okinawa, Japan were Mr. Goepfert spend time as an Airman in the USAF. It is also listed in the Kadena Air Base Paper, agian not sure you can Google that? The Fort Walton Daily News March 19th, 1990 edition also lists his competion victories. The Rockford Register Star did a large article on him when he opened his school there. We have the article but it is cut out, so we are not sure of the exact date.

We also listed organizations that you can get his credentials, ie, Ryoce Gracie, etc.

I can not spend much more time on this. I would like to spend more time editing the page for Mr. Goepfert, however if it is going to be deleted than why bother.

If you do plan to delete it, please do it soon. Myself and Master Goepfert's students do not want to see him questioned in this manner. It is very disrespectfull to him if poeple see this. Master Goepfert has a great reputation and is well known and respected in the martial arts world.

Thanks for your time and further consideration. Goep714 (talk) 17:25, 8 July 2008 (UTC)

OK, thanks for your reply. Although I myself canaot verfiy that, there is probably someone on Wikipedia who can. IIf what you are saying is correct, and I believe that it probably is, someone on WIkipedia will verify this in the deletion discussion. Note that I myself do not have the power to delete articles, I were just not sure of the claims so I asked for a deletion discussion. Thanks, Anonymous101 (talk) 17:29, 8 July 2008 (UTC)

Pacific Storage Company

Hello. It appears that you are requesting to have the article "Pacific Storage Company" removed from Wikipedia. This is based on the note "that simply having a company or product as its subject does not qualify an article for this criterion." This is not just any company. It is a company that has been in the Stockton California area since 1856. It has a large Historical significance to the people of that surrounding area. This article reviews the history of the company. Can you remove the "criteria for speedy deletion." Please feel free to ask me any questions that might help the process. Thank you. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mmcleran (talkcontribs) 17:52, 8 July 2008 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of David Brickhill-Jones

Resolved
 – Lincolnite removed speedy tag after discussion on Talk:David Brickhill-Jones

A tag has been placed on David Brickhill-Jones requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. Lincolnite (talk) 14:00, 15 July 2008 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of David Brickhill-Jones

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article David Brickhill-Jones, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. 86.146.43.19 (talk) 15:47, 18 July 2008 (UTC)

Article 2.5 million

How exactly did you come up with it? The article you claim it to be was posted nearly two hours after we first passed 2.5 million articles. Wizardman 16:15, 12 August 2008 (UTC)

Yup, must've. If you checked several hours after the fact, then yes it's going to be radically different. I know we picked 1M and 2M by the very first one to cross, that's mainly why I was shocked at the new one being hours later. Wizardman 16:19, 12 August 2008 (UTC)
Oh well. My only guess is Joe Connor being 2.5M, and that only because a couple users told me that's what it was. It would be any of the 30-odd articles in the 22:30 UTC area. Wizardman 16:30, 12 August 2008 (UTC)

Images being removed

Hi, I noticed you complained when another user removed your images from an article. As explained at {{Cleanup-gallery}}, image galleries are discouraged on Wikipedia. Thanks for your time, Anonymous101 (talk) 20:36, 14 August 2008 (UTC)

As explained he other editor, these images where illustrative of the issue being described in the article. A gallery had been selected as the most appropriate way of laying out the images with description to add context. If you look at the version of the article prior to removal of the images and the contextual text that were there to improve the article, the gallery function helped with the layout.
This other editor has now readded the images as thumbnails in the article and to my mind has made the article look messy, however he has totally demotivated me in my quest to improve articles by added images to add context to the article. I feel what he has done to a series of articles is to their detriment. I had planned to undertake a photographic trip to improve other articles in the series (one of which has had a poor quality, out of date and non typical image added as it was all that appears to have been available in Geograph).
I have always tried to use the gallery function to improve the article, not just as a repositry of images. This means appropriate captions that assist in improving articles. This is academic now as I have been totally demotivated by the mess that the other editor has made in his wholesale modification of this series of articles and it will be a long time before I even consider revising these articles again - they have not been improved by his actions and the casual reader of the articles in question will not see the full context of the issues being described without the image - which were specifically taken to improve the article. This whole issue has left a very bitter taste in my mouth. --Stewart (talk) 20:19, 15 August 2008 (UTC)
I have now reviewed again the template links - WP:NOTMIRROR - item 4 states:

Mere collections of photographs or media files with no text to go with the articles. If you are interested in presenting a picture, please provide an encyclopedic context, or consider adding it to Wikimedia Commons. If a picture comes from a public domain source on a website, then consider adding it to Wikipedia:Images with missing articles or Wikipedia:Public domain image resources.

The images removed were provided with encyclopedic context, and where added to provide additional context to the article. This is why I have been de-motivated. --Stewart (talk) 20:26, 15 August 2008 (UTC)

What articles edited under Smallbig? shouldn't contributions still be accessible?

I thought contributions stayed forever, even after user pages deleted. I don't think you can just forward like that can you? Just want to make sure you aren't a sock puppet since there is a sock puppet problem at a page you've recently edited to, so I am asking you first. Carol Moore 15:41, 31 August 2008 (UTC)Carolmooredc {talk}

Your Reply moved from my talk: I was formerly known as Smallbig but then I changed my name at WP:CHU. As a result, all my contributions were moved to the user name anonymous101. I hope this answers your question. If not, feel free to ask me. Anonymous101 (talk) 15:44, 31 August 2008 (UTC)

OK I looked at your wikinews contributions and they went way back. The only ones I see here on Anonymous101 go from about the time the problematic sock puppets started operating, early August 2008, and thus my concern; plus the barnster proliferation similar to one of the sock puppets. Anyway, people creating several accounts and editing anonymous to plug their positions can be very annoying and must be dealt with, as I'm sure you can agree. Have written draft. Need help formatting and uploading article.

In the Wikipedia entry on Shared Space, I am named as a proponent. The other four named proponents have individual Wikipedia entries. As a published writer with original views, I thought it would be appropriate for me to have my own Wiki entry. I note that we are advised against posting our own entries. Also I find the system difficult to navigate. So I wonder if you would execute an entry if I send you a draft? If possible please reply by email to [email protected]. URL is www.fitroads.org. Anticipating that you might be busy, I might post this on one or two other adopters' talk pages and go with the first who replies. Of course I will let the others know. With thanks, Martin Cassini - Seeplain (talk) 21:35, 3 September 2008 (UTC) Seeplain

[edit] I thought I had posted the second draft on your talk page for your comments, but I'm not sure it pasted. In any event it is on my talk page. Would appreciate any feedback. Thanks Seeplain (talk) 14:49, 6 September 2008 (UTC) [edit]

GA Review

I have responded to your points at the GA Review. It was a pretty good review, the only things I'd say to keep in mind is basically just WP:LEAD and that it's hard to ask for more material at times, if it simply isn't out there after an exhaustive search for WP:RS/WP:V secondary sources. Orphaned non-free media (Image:British Orienteering Federation.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:British Orienteering Federation.jpg.

Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 15:19, 3 October 2008 (UTC)

Image:549755 9ad9ad5a-by-George-Evans.jpg is now available on Wikimedia Commons as Commons:Image:Redland Green School.jpg. This is a repository of free media that can be used on all Wikimedia wikis. The image will be deleted from Wikipedia, but this doesn't mean it can't be used anymore. You can embed an image uploaded to Commons like you would an image uploaded to Wikipedia, in this case: [[Image:Redland Green School.jpg]]. Note that this is an automated message to inform you about the move. This bot did not copy the image itself. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 13:31, 4 October 2008 (UTC)

Sons of Anarchy edit

In what way exactly did my additions to the Sons of Anarchy page constitute Vandalism? The additions were neither incorrect nor defamatory, I was merely trying to flesh out the character descriptions.--Tricksterson (talk) 17:43, 23 October 2008 (UTC)

When making statements about a person (especially implying that they have an interest in necrophilia), they need to be cited. All material on Wikipedia needs to be verifiable. Your satements were not and were reverted. LeilaniLad (talk) 17:51, 23 October 2008 (UTC)
While content obviously needs to be verified, I think it may have been inappropriate to define it as vandalism. Anonymous101 (talk) 14:01, 24 October 2008 (UTC)
Put yourself in my place, you are patrolling vandalism (as I know you are wont to do), and you see this uncited edit making a claim of a characters penchant for necrophilia. Would you not also have reverted the change? LeilaniLad (talk) 14:17, 24 October 2008 (UTC)
Edit: I am however trying to be more accurate in how I revert, using the editing error template now for situations like this. LeilaniLad (talk) 14:21, 24 October 2008 (UTC)
Edit: Also, I don't want to come off as defensive. I realize that with each new tool I am given to work with that there is a period of learning to use it efficiently. Please understand that I am not being dismissive and am taking your advice to heart. My ultimate motivation is the improvement of the encyclopedia. LeilaniLad (talk) 14:47, 24 October 2008 (UTC)
Yes it should be reverted, but i don't think wanring the user for vandalism is appropriate. I have seen your other recent edits and the vast amjority are great, this is just one small concern I have. Thanks, --Anonymous101 (talk) 15:50, 24 October 2008 (UTC)

Wikimedia UK v2.0

Hello! Thanks for showing an interest in Wikimedia UK v2.0. Formation of the company is currently underway under the official name "Wiki UK Limited", and we are hoping to start accepting membership in the near future. We have been drawing up a set of membership guidelines, determining what membership levels we'll have (we plan on starting off with just standard Membership, formerly known as Guarantor Membership, with supporting membership / friends scheme coming later), who can apply for membership (everyone), what information we'll collect on the application form, why applications may be rejected, and data retention. Your input on all of this would be appreciated. We're especially after the community's thoughts on what the membership fee should be. Please leave a message on the talk page with your thoughts.

Also, we're currently setting up a monthly newsletter to keep everyone informed about the to-be-Chapter's progress. If you would like to receive this newsletter, please put your username down on this page.

Wiki UK Ltd Membership applications now invited!

Hello,

It gives me great pleasure to announce that Wiki UK Limited is now inviting membership applications! You can download the application form in PDF format from meta:Image:Wiki_UK_Ltd_membership_application_form.pdf

Information is given on the form about membership fees (£12/year standard, £6 for concessions); these need to be paid by cheque initially, although we hope to accept other forms of payment in the future. Applications should be submitted to me at the address given on the form. If you have any queries about the application process, please let me know.

We will formally start accepting members once we have a bank account, as we cannot process membership fees until that time. We will be submitting our application for a bank account in the very near future, and we hope to have this set up by the end of December at the latest.

Thank you for your support so far; I look forward to receiving your membership application.

By the way, I think all users of Virgin media use this IP so this may be a problem for several users. Thanks, Anonymous101 (talk) 16:14, 5 December 2008 (UTC)

Your request to be unblocked has been granted for the following reason(s):

Autoblock of 62.30.249.131 lifted or expired.

Request handled by: J.delanoygabsadds 16:21, 5 December 2008 (UTC)

It should be gone now, I think someone else removed it. There's like 10 people requesting IP unblock, so can you let me know if it really is gone? J.delanoygabsadds 16:21, 5 December 2008 (UTC)
The block has gone now. Thanks, Anonymous101 (talk)

Question on moving pictures to Commons

I was attempting to work on the backlog of User-created public domain pictures to be moved to Commons, but I couldn't quite figure out the process. Could you explain it in more detail? Thanks, ErikTheBikeMan (talk) 21:57, 13 December 2008 (UTC)
