[edit]

Throughout the offseason, Mauk competed for the Tigers' starting quarterback job but was ultimately named the backup to returning starter James Franklin.[7]

Mauk played sparingly to being the 2013 season until Franklin left the Tigers' games against Georgia with an injury.[8] Mauk entered the game with Missouri leading 28-26 in the fourth quarter and ultimately helped lead them to a 41-26 victory.[8]

Mauk made his first career start the following week against Florida, leading the Tigers to a 36-17 victory and earning Southeastern Conference freshman of the week honors.[9][10]
