CarAdvice is an Australian automotive content publisher, which publishes comprehensive independent editorial reviews, suggestions, entertainment and news on different platforms on a daily basis. CarAdvice's team reviews new models to help new car buyers choose the right vehicle for the specific needs. CarAdvice focuses on test-based original, independent editorial content publication and advertising solutions mainly for car manufacturers. CarAdvice was a blog about cars registered by Alborz Fallah in 2006. Since then, CarAdvice has more than 40 employees in its offices in Sydney and Melbourne.[1] In September 2016 ,CarAdvice was acquired by Nine Entertainment Co. and provide the following programs: the automotive social networks in Australia including the official website, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram; A YouTube channel; A national radio show; A weekly podcast; A weekly TV show on the Nine network.

CarAdvice.com.au was registered with a domain registration price of $35 as a blog about cars by Alborz Fallah in Brisbane in 2006[2]and has grew into an automotive content website called CarAdvice reviewing vehicles and offering car advice. It launched its first TV campaign in 2012, which was broadcast on Ten Networks with adverts of 30 seconds and 15 seconds respectively.[3]In 2015, CarAdvice launched independent editorial marine contents publication, Boatadvice.com.au which provides new boats reviews, news, suggestions and a communication platform[4]. He sold his business to Channel Nine, also known as Nine Entertainment Co. in March 2016, for a reported $35 million. [5]

Nine Entertainment Co. acquired 59.22% in CarAdvice for cash consideration of $17.3 million plus acquisition coasts of $153150 in September 2016 and then has been the parent company of CarAdvice with 100% ownership within 3 years from the date of initial acquisition of 59.22% shares. Nine had obtained control and the exercise of the put and call option. [6] [7]After the acquisition, it pulled out of AMAA's digital traffic measurement service and changed to use IAB-backed Nielsen website measurement service to count the number of unique monthly audiences.[8]CarAdvice and Facebook cooperated to launch a new platform using social media streams to attract and engage new car buyers called CarAdvice Next in 2017.[9] It was announced that CarAdvice is to merge Drive motoring platforms on May 2, 2019. Its automotive content shares onto the Drive platforms including digital, print ,radio, television and social medias through a greater audience scale.[10]

CarAdvice confirmed the appointment of Christian Clark as National Sales Manager on September 5, 2012.[11]CarAdvice announces the departure of CEO David Holmes and commercial director Justin Whelan took over as CEO in May 2013.[12]In October 2013, Justin Whelan, who had been appointed CEO of CarAdvice died tragically. Andrew Beecher has become the CEO of CarAdvice.[13]CarAdvice's National Sales Director Benn Sykes joined the Daily Mail Australian in February 2018, becoming the company's national sales director. He managed revenue and growth and launched Chicane Studios for CarAdvice.[14] Former CarSales and News Corp sales manager Stewart Parker was appointed CarAdvice's National Sales Director, working with media agencies to represent all major car brands.[15] Just eight months later, Ben Sykes returned to CarAdvice as Commercial Director in October 2018.[16]

CarAdvice won the Anthill 2015 Cool company Award which was a Number Crusher Award for a fast growing number of audiences in website and social media following in 2015.[17] And it won the award for Website of the Year at the Mumbrella Publish Awards in Sydney in 2015. The Publish Awards recognize the best in print and digital publishing across Australia. The awards were organised by Mumbrella in association with Publishers in Australia. [18]CarAdvice also won the 2016 SmartCompany Smart50 Awards which recognize and celebrate Australia's fastest growing SMEs in 2015-2016 and ranked at 27th.[19]

CarAdvice was shortlisted for the finals of Media Brand of the Year in 2018 B&T Awards, Digital-Only Magazine Brand of the Year in 2018 Ad News Australian Magazine Awards and best branded podcast in 2019 Australian Podcast Awards. [20][21][22]

CarAdvice has a unique monthly website audience of 1.275 million which is under SimilarWeb's Website Analysis Overview Report. [24]CarAdvice is mainly targeted website for car manufacturers supporting a advertising solutions through different digital accesses.There are different formats for advertising which are offered by CarAdvice: video pre-roll, video post-roll, title sponsorship, full-page takeover, leaderboard, editor sponsorship, medium rectangle, half page.[25] CarAdvice focused on high-quality content which avoids low-yield programmatic advertising as the CEO Andrew Beecher said: 'We do not sell one cent of revenue programmatically. We have an in-house sales team, we have 39 advertisers that have spent money on Car Advice in the last twelve months, 37 of them are car companies.”[26]

Website Contents are divided into different sections including News, Reviews, Comparisons, Advice& Opinions, Culture, Showrooms and Videos. In the CarAdvice's mainpage, the information form mixes texts, images, videos. From the source, there are automotive content edited by reporters from CarAdvice, and there are also owner car reviews which are posted by the website registered users. At the top of the page, user can find relevant content for the specified model by selecting make and model, including reviews, videos, compare reviews, news, owner reviews and galleries. CarAdvice also provides advertising and marketing platforms for enterprise manufacturers, helping companies to promote their products, and providing a platform for deals and after-sales service providers to provide information.

News

The following branches of news are all news, new models, technology, industry sales results, motor show and recalls.  All news is a combination of the following different categories.  The new model is a report and introduction to the information on released and unreleased cars, including the attention and analysis of new car spy photos, redesigns and new cars, to present new trends and changes in the design of various manufacturers.  The reporter reported various appearances, interiors, interior spaces and other pictures, and expressed their opinions and suggestions based on specific configurations and prices.  Technology refers to the report on the technology of different manufacturers' cars, including the invention, selection, upgrading and application of technology by various manufacturers.  Industry sales results provide domestic and international car sales, car production information, car sales data analysis and monthly car sales rankings.  Motor show reports on different auto shows and reveals the configuration and features of some specific models.  Recalls reports on the recall of the car by the car manufacturer, and reports the problem of the product, the cause of the problem, the improvement method, etc.

Review is a test drive for a specific car and its evaluation.  CarAdvice analyzes its ten aspects of performance, ride quality, handling & dynamics, driver technology, interior & packaging, infotainment & connectivity, fuel efficiency, safety, value for money and fit for purpose. And give scores for each aspect based on 0 to 10 points and give the vehicle an independent rating, and provides a list of advantages and disadvantages.  In the specific evaluation, specific configuration such as engine, interior, and appearance could be provided and analyzed, and related images are attached. Garage Review tests the acceleration, braking, fuel efficiency data and noise of the vehicle by means of professional inspection. Launch Reviews is a test drive evaluation report for the new model, and shares the motoring journalist’s own feelings about the first drive of the new car. Long-term Report is a new vehicle evaluation of a certain model for a long time, experience its performance, and present the reliability, actual fuel consumption, maintenance costs and other links. The following branches of Advice&Opinion include Finance,Car Buying,Ask Car Advice. In Finance and Car Buying, caradvice provides a list of different car loan programs to allow the required audiences to compare and select and a loan calculator. The car loan calculator is used to calculate the monthly payment, the total amount of car loan interest and the total repayment amount after selecting or filling out the loan amount, repayment period, interest rate and repayment frequency for personal loan or car loan. Opinion refers to an area for caradvice reporters and road testers to express their opinions, including the evaluation of a specific model, experience and some stories about life and the car, and views on a car event, etc. Ask Car Advice refers to the section that registered users can ask questions on the website to seek automotive information.

Culture

The following branches of Culture include Car Culture, Great Drives, Car Life, In the Metal, Past Blast, Aftermarket. Car Culture is a combination of the following branches. In Great Drives, it records the experience of a test drive of a specific model, and the story in the driving.There are less specific configuration in the article than Reviews.In Car Life, the stories about automotive life are written such as Buying and Modifying, road trips, motorsports  . In‘ In The Metal’, it provides the stories about a car or a car manufacturer such the design review for a specific model. In Past Blast, there are reviews for models released in the past and some comparisons between old models and new models in some articles.And it shares the modifying experience and driving tips in Aftermarket.

Showrooms

Showroom offers recommended car manufacturers and all car manufacturers for the audience to choose. After selecting a brand, CarAdvice provides news, reviews, comparisons, photos, videos, owner reviews and galleries about the brand. It provides a full-page area of a specific car manufacturer to select the relevant models and articles for the brand.
