Klothild de Baar (a pseudonym) is a Canadian writer ^[1] She has written professional works, as an economist, often focussed on the petrodollar circulatory system ^[2], a series of science-based children’s stories ^[3], novels ^[4], novellas ^[5], books of 300 Fireside, Veranda, and Lawnchair short stories ^[6] ^[7], epistolaries ^[8], as well as the definitive book of Canadian culinary culture ^[9]. Her books have been translated into several languages ^[10], and some short-listed and long-listed for prizes, including the Fred Kerner Prize of the Canadian Authors Association ^[11], and the 2016 Book Excellence Awards ^[12]. The Canadian Federation of University Women included her in their category of Notable Women, and Ottawa Distinguished Women nominated her as a Woman of Inspiration ^[13] . She was an officer of CIDA ^[14], now Global Affairs Canada, Government of Canada ^[15] .

Early life and education

De Baar was born in Egg, Alikon ^[16], a farming estate in the canton of Aargau in Switzerland . She grew up in Europe and was educated in several countries, obtaining a doctorate in the United States.

Personal life

She is married to Peter Sorokan, QC ^[17], and lives and works in Canada's capital, Ottawa ^[18] , and at a cottage on Chauncey Lake ^[19],Quebec.
