Redirected to Rhythm and blues

[edit]

I've redirected this to rhythm and blues. The thousands of "R&B" links need to be fixed before this page is turned into a disambiguation page. Extraordinary Machine 14:43, 4 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Either merge Rhythm and blues with Contemporary R&B...

[edit]

Or redirect "R&B" to "contemporary R&B". That is what R&B means nowadays most of the time. It makes stupid sense to redirect it to it's historical once-upon-a-time ancestor. Doing that is like redirecting "Rock" to "Rock 'n Roll". --Loginnigol (talk) 10:20, 11 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Please read WP:COMMONNAME. There are decades worth of books that refer to "historical once-upon-a-time" rhythm and blues as R&B. How many books refer to contemporary R&B simply as R&B?
This page should either be left "as is" or changed into a disambiguation page. — Malik Shabazz Talk/Stalk 17:51, 11 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Keep as redirect to Contemporary R&B

[edit]

As said, absolutely barely any articles say "Contemporary R&B" when referring to "Contemporary R&B" they just say "R&B". Having this re-direct stops lots of frustration of people redirecting to the Rhythm and Blues genre when it is a Contemporary R&B song. This redirecting to Contemporary R&B helps prevent that as it's super frustrating because not everyone is gonna type out "Contemporary R&B" and neither do most articles that do mention it. This will not affect any current Rhythm and blues articles as I've checked. There is no need for this to redirect to Rhythm and blues, articles usually spell out "Rhythm and blues". Also see here on how Contemporary R&B is mentioned, it's the modern day now and Contemporary R&B has gained far more notability and is now the WP:COMMONNAME and I have far more sources than just that to prove it, look at most Contemporary R&B article you'll notice most publications simply wrote "R&B" when citing Contemporary R&B.
