Prime Cabinet Secretary v. Prime Minister
[edit]The office of Prime Minister was abolished after the current Kenyan constitution was effected in March 2013. In the history of Kenya, the first PM Kenyatta was appointed when Kenya had the Queen as the head of state; the PM was assumed head of government. The second one was re-established as a power-sharing deal, where the president and the PM had equal power in government, even as the former remained head of government. However, the Prime Cabinet Secretary role is neither defined nor recognized in the current laws of Kenya. It is a new position and should be treated as such.--102.140.222.226 (talk) 14:57, 29 October 2022 (UTC)
- @Therequiembellishere:I have been editing on the role of the Prime Cabinet Secretary in the Government of Kenya. The Prime Minister office was abolished twice in 1964 and 2013. In 1963, the head of state was Queen Elizabeth II who was represented through a Governor-General in Kenya. This Governor-General could then select a Prime Minister from whichever political party had the majority in the House of Representatives (Source: Wikipedia). In 2013 the office was abolished when the new constitution was effected. However, Prime Cabinet Secretary is an office purely created at the discretion of the President but not a recognized office by law. This is how the position was re-established in 2008 by an act of Parliament. Prime Minister is a constitutional office that needs a law to be re-established.-102.140.222.226 (talk) 17:39, 29 October 2022 (UTC)
