The result of the move request was: Procedural close. An Undiscussed rescoping of the page from dab to article has been reverted, so this RM is now redundant — Amakuru (talk) 12:12, 29 November 2022 (UTC)
OAD (Caste) → Oad (caste) – The body of the article uses conventional capitalization for the name, and the disambiguator should also be lower-case. I would also propose that either Oad or OAD should be changed into a disambiguation page between the caste and the various other uses of the term (Oad Street, Oad Swigart, Original animation DVD, etc). - Guys, this is the talk of an established disambiguation page that got hijacked for an article and then moved just a week ago. Also, there is already an article about a caste with the name, which probably is about the same group. – Uanfala (talk) 14:23, 27 November 2022 (UTC)

- Amakuru, the dab was moved from OAD to Oad because for cases like this WP:DABNAME recommends the form of the title that's a pronounceable word rather than an initialism. – Uanfala (talk) 12:28, 29 November 2022 (UTC)
- @Uanfala: - "oad" is not a word though, it has no dictionary meaning. The majority of TLA dabs that are not words are housed at uppercase, e.g. OAN, PLO (disambiguation) or OWU (disambiguation). My reversion was to take the page back to its longterm stable title, prior to the recent Undiscussed moves. Cheers — Amakuru (talk) 14:50, 29 November 2022 (UTC)
- The wording in DABNAME is confusing, but the main point there is not whether there is a dictionary meaning (as that's irrelevant), but whether the word is an acronym or not. This is in accordance with the principle to use the simplest possible form for the title of a dab page (Foo is more basic than FOO). If OAD was titled the way it was then that was because at the time of creation it only contained acronyms. – Uanfala (talk) 14:57, 29 November 2022 (UTC)
- It's high time that bit in DABNAME got clarified: I've started a discussion at Wikipedia_talk:Disambiguation#DABNAME_and_abbreviations. – Uanfala (talk) 15:49, 29 November 2022 (UTC)
