... that throughout her career in the 1930s and 1940s, Marilyn Knowlden appeared in six films that received nominations for Best Picture at the Academy Awards? Source: "How many actors or actresses can say they were in six films nominated for the best picture academy award between 1930 and 1940? Just one: Marilyn Knowlden" [1] & "I was in some big pictures ---- important pictures,” said Knowlden. “I was in six films that were nominated for Best Picture in the 1930s" [2]
Reviewed: This is the first time I'm doing DYK, so no QPQ needed.
Article has been fivefold expanded fivefold, is of sufficient length, and appears well referenced. The hook is stated, backed with the relevant inline citations, and is under 200 characters. Hook looks interesting. Personally, I would have gone with "... throughout the 1930s and 1940s, child actress Marilyn Knowlden..." which is shorter, but yours might be more "hooky". No signs of plagiarism or close paraphrasing. No QPQ needed. Should be ready for promotion. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Shuipzv3 (talk • contribs)
Thanks for reviewing this. I'm fine with either phrasing. Perhaps the word career is in fact superfluous as it is implied in the context.OscarL22:10, 31 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
This is in response to the recent removal of the text that Knowlden was one of the last surviving actors from the 1930s. Since the removed text was from the lead, it's not surprising that it lacked inline citations. After all, Wikipedia leads are meant to summarize every important detail in the main text. And yes, the main text not only has this fact, but also provides a citation (Township Journal, see 3rd paragraph). Call it trivial if you want, but it is not unsourced. It's also aged like wine, because six years have passed since the interview was published, making her even more rare in a film historical context. I think adding things like this is fine, as long as it avoids hyperboles like "star" and such. OscarL23:30, 1 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Oscar, that was me who removed it. You're quite correct – it is sourced in the main body of the article and thus I've restored it to the lede. Apologies. I have however just removed another sentence from the lede which talks about her spouses (they're not notable in their own right, and they're already listed in the infobox anyway). Thank you, Jk, I appreciate it. With that one editor who adds this type of info, I understand the need for vigilance in general. Fair enough re the spouses. OscarL22:46, 2 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
