Talk:List of songs recorded by Fiona Apple/Archive 1
Construction
[edit]All songs (not including bonus tracks) from Apple's four studio albums are included. Moving on to guest appearance, singles and other collaborations.
"Frosty the Snowman""Sally's Song""Why Try to Change Me Now""I Walk a Little Faster""Dull Tool""I Want You"
Ruby, thanks for offering to include references (with details from liner notes). --Another Believer (Talk) 03:39, 20 January 2013 (UTC)
- Great. I've sourced most of the current table's entries -- all but Idler Wheel (I wanted to verify all its songs were by Apple before I inputted the liner citations). I should be able to jump back in soon. Good progress so far! Ruby 2010/2013 05:27, 20 January 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks so much! I was going to ask you to double check that all songs were written by Apple. Also, I am assuming you are reading liner notes from the CD booklet, so I indicated this in the album notes template (type=booklet, per template page). Looking forward to more work on this list! --Another Believer (Talk) 05:29, 20 January 2013 (UTC)
Credits at Allmusic. This page should contain a thorough list of credits. --Another Believer (Talk) 05:32, 20 January 2013 (UTC)
- Wow, that Allmusic list is great (and massive)! I'll work on adding more from it soon. And yep, I've been using the booklets and double checking all the songs. Apple really makes it easy, having written pretty much all of her songs alone. :) Ruby 2010/2013 05:47, 20 January 2013 (UTC)
- Exactly! Her name appears quite a few times on this list. --Another Believer (Talk) 06:06, 20 January 2013 (UTC)
- Wow you've been busy! I like the content you added into the lead -- I was thinking we could organize the info into chronological order (like with Rihanna's and Adele's). And I'm not sure if we have to add in every song she's collaborated on, just the most prominent ones (not sure how we gauge that though). Again, I'm just following the models set by the aforementioned lists, so discount my ideas if you have other plans in mind. :) Thoughts? Ruby 2010/2013 06:32, 21 January 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks. Actually, I think our list is pretty complete. At least according to Allmusic (see the General reference). I did find this version of E.M. with a bonus disc, which includes "River, Stay Away from My Door" and "You Belong to Me". Feel free to amend the lead. I had started to construct one in chronological order, but I found grouping tracks by type worked better for me. --Another Believer (Talk) 06:57, 21 January 2013 (UTC)
- Just realized my comment might have been misconstrued -- I meant I'm not sure we have to add every song of hers to the lead. I'll tweak the lead when I get a chance. Were you planning on submitting the article for DYK? Ruby 2010/2013 07:11, 21 January 2013 (UTC)
- Oh, ok (re: lead). Yes, feel free to improve. I was not planning on submitting a hook to DYK... I don't really participate at DYK because I find the review requirement a nuisance. If you are interested, please feel free! --Another Believer (Talk) 07:19, 21 January 2013 (UTC)
- I figured there were few enough songs they could all somewhere be incorporated into the lead, but I don't feel strongly that all must be included. --Another Believer (Talk) 07:22, 21 January 2013 (UTC)
- I don't mind the process (though admittedly the review requirement can be irksome). I'll work on editing the lead in the next day or so, and will submit it for DYK. Ruby 2010/2013 07:45, 21 January 2013 (UTC)

Thanks for working on the lead. Looking forward to the rest of its expansion. Making notes here so I don't create edit conflicts:

Singles
[edit]Both the Adele and Rihanna lists designate singles with colored cells. We should probably replicate this feature. I noticed the Rihanna list displays "Single release only" under the "Album(s)" column, while the Adele list displays "N/A" -- preference? Once the lead is finished, we just need a few more sources and this list is FLC ready. --Another Believer (Talk) 20:36, 21 January 2013 (UTC)
- I have no real preference, so do which ever option you like best. And awesome! I'll nominate it for DYK later today, as we're already past the requirements threshold. Ruby 2010/2013 21:05, 21 January 2013 (UTC)
- Actually, in this case, I think both may be used. Some are released as singles, while "Angel Eyes" has not been released in any official form, apart from the film itself (as far as I can tell). Will leave as is and address if need be during FLC process. --Another Believer (Talk) 21:28, 21 January 2013 (UTC)
As far as I'm concerned, this list is complete, apart from the few missing references. Ruby, if you have time to add sources for "The Idler Wheel" (booklet) and confirm writing credits, that would be much appreciated. That would leave only a couple missing cells, one being "Still I", which we need to verify was actually released as a single (and color accordingly, if true). --Another Believer (Talk) 21:30, 21 January 2013 (UTC)
- Yep, will work on adding to references. I think I tried searching for "Search I" the other day and came up empty for anything reliable. Ruby 2010/2013 22:05, 21 January 2013 (UTC)
- I am having difficulty finding a reference verifying that "I Want You" was released as a single. I would resort to the iTunes Music Store but I cannot even find the single there. I have it in my library so I know it exists, or existed...! --Another Believer (Talk) 03:01, 22 January 2013 (UTC)
To do
[edit]ref for "It's Only a Paper Moon"ref for "I Want You"ref for "Still I" (and credits)"Angel Eyes" credits- "Come On and Get It (Up in 'Dem Guts)" credits
"River, Stay Away from My Door" credits(traditional, at least according to TwentyFourBit)
--Another Believer (Talk) 16:22, 22 January 2013 (UTC)
- See http://www.twentyfourbit.com/2011/04/watch-hear-fiona-apple-cover-15-songs/ for cover songs, some of which just show live concert footage and should not be included in this list (since they are not official recordings). What about "Shabby Doll", though? Are television programs considered recordings? "I Want You", from the same television program, was released as a single and should therefore be included.
- Hmmmm it's a fine line between a live song and something that's been produced for an album/single. I'm more inclined to say we leave out "Shabby Doll", as I'm not sure what we would use to source it.
- I tried searching for a ref for "Paper Moon", but only found this (in case you don't have Highbeam access, "Though Maggart says she and Apple are close and have contemplated a sister act (they sing an eerie duet of "It's Only a Paper Moon"), she's glad to have avoided the spotlight Apple attracts.") Don't think it's enough, since it doesn't mention the album. Sourcing for this list is becoming harder than I expected! Ruby 2010/2013 01:31, 23 January 2013 (UTC)
- Well, for "Paper Moon" we could just cite the album liner notes the same way we did for Apple's own albums. I have the track, and the credits are obvious, so no harm. --Another Believer (Talk) 03:07, 23 January 2013 (UTC)
- Oh, didn't realize. That sounds like a good solution. Feel free to add it in whenever (I can cite the Highbeam source in there too). Ruby 2010/2013 03:37, 23 January 2013 (UTC)

Ruby, do you have the booklet for "The Idler Wheel" nearby? We will see how well "unknown" works at FLC, but I've tried hard to find reliable sources. If the entries have to be removed, so be it. I am happy to co-nominate the list at FLC, unless you have other changes to make to the list. --Another Believer (Talk) 04:10, 23 January 2013 (UTC)
- Sorry for delay. I've added in the booklet citations and made a few other minor changes. I was wondering how necessary the "incomplete" template at the top of the list was (the Adele and Faith No More lists for instance don't have them). Otherwise, I think this is ready for FLC! Ruby 2010/2013 21:42, 26 January 2013 (UTC)
- Fantastic, thanks so much. No need to apologize. I think I saw the 'incomplete' template on another FL for recordings, but I have no problem with its removal (or inclusion). I'd be happy to co-nominate the list for FL status. --Another Believer (Talk) 01:49, 27 January 2013 (UTC)
