The article currently exceeds 10 000 words right now, which is definitely too big. I believe something urgent needs to happen to reduce the article size. That's why I'm proposing that the Caribbean sections be split off into their own article since it forms a significant part of the article's size (it is pretty large). It was also notably affected by the storm, with numerous impacts spread across most of the region. However, if that is going to happen, I believe Effects of Hurricane Irma in the British Virgin Islands should also be merged into the proposed subarticle if the split proposal goes through. Any thoughts? ZZZ'S01:03, 4 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Oppose - there is a Florida subarticle, so having a Carib subarticle would basically be the rest of the areas Irma affected. I would rather a more specific area, like the Lesser Antilles. Hurricanehink mobile (talk) 15:13, 4 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Support I agree with the splitting of the article given the article size being large at the moment and the fact that Irma caused significant damage along the Lesser Antilles; however, I would not recommend merging the Effects of Hurricane Irma in the British Virgin Islands into the proposed sub-article. If it does split, there could be a short summary on the effects in the British Virgin Islands and a link to that sub-article would be recommended. tai (he/him) (talk) 19:20, 4 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
