Iraq and Roll
[edit]Would anyone more knowledgeable than me about the this subject comment on his pro-Iraq war song, and perhaps the impact it has? As a statement of political position and, as the article states, neotraditional style, I find it an interesting number and worth a mention - although I only have heard the track and not much about its background.
From Texas?
[edit]On biography his mother sounds Southern, are they from Texas and only in New Jersey for a little while? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 209.206.165.32 (talk) 04:28, 23 January 2007 (UTC).
Chelsea Bain
[edit]Can we find a citation for this girl being Clint's daughter? A Google search for a combination of Clint Black and either Renee or Chelsea Bain only brings up mirrors to this article.Spell4yr (talk) 02:05, 25 January 2008 (UTC)
I can recall a mention of this accusation in an article from 18 years ago. A woman appeared on a weekday talkshow like Oprah or Geraldo claiming Clint had fathered her child. Nothing was ever said of it again, though. When he had his baby in 2001, every article refered to her as being his first child. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.249.195.155 (talk) 22:25, 16 February 2009 (UTC)
I remember Clint's mother being interviewed once and she commented on how Clint had thrown "loads of money at that situation" and she acted really disgusted. Sounds like Clint had a fling when he hit the big time and paid the mother off to try and make her disappear. If you Google Chelsea Bain, she has a lot of Clint's facial features. It's not hard for one to believe she is his daughter. Some say it was more Lisa's idea of making the issue go away than Clint's. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 208.126.111.158 (talk) 04:40, 11 January 2014 (UTC)

Article needs list of band members
[edit]This article would be well served if the author would include a list of band members. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.174.177.49 (talk) 21:05, 18 October 2011 (UTC)
Spouse/personal life
[edit]Does Wikipedia only publish professional life now? Why is there no mention of marriage to Lisa Hartman? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 166.249.134.36 (talk) 13:47, 28 May 2012 (UTC)
- I added the basics, it could use more details.Tomsv 98 (talk) 17:46, 6 July 2012 (UTC)
Keyboard?
[edit]I removed keyboards from the list of musical instruments, as I cannot find a source. Tomsv 98 (talk) 14:27, 17 July 2012 (UTC)

- review
- suggest first heading should be "Early life"
- "Personal life" should be moved down - as in Reba McEntire for example.
- likewise "Marriages and family" should be removed and those two sentence put under "Personal life".
- suggested TOC
- Early life
- Music career
- 1989–1991: Early career
- 1992: Lawsuits and The Hard Way
- 1993–1999
- 1999–Present: Later career
- Songwriting
- question whether the section "Collaborations" is needed. His biggest collaboration is with Hayden Nicholas, which is under "Career" above and also under "Songwriting". The others can be mention under the relevant "Music career" section.
- any info on how Black and Nicholas collaborated? Did both write music and lyrics, or did Black primarily write the lyrics, or what.
- Film and television
- Musical styles and legacy (suggested)
- "Musical styles and legacy" section is needed to cover his overall contributions to country music. Here his voice could be described as it never is in the article. His skills as a musician, type of music he played. Any instrumentals? His influence on other performers. etc.
- Personal life
- Awards
- Discography
- Filmography
etc.
- "after singers George Strait and Reba McEntire transformed the genre" - meaning returned it to its early days e.g. George Jones etc.?
- there seems to be little mention of his abilities as a musician. That he played the guitar is noted. But in the infobox it says he played additionally bass, harmonica, keyboards, drums. When did he play these? On his own records, in performances etc. How good was he as a musician?
- Under "Songwriting" - what were the themes of his songs. Sample lyrics?
- apparently his career as a singer has declined? Mostly he appears in television now?
- what were his performances like? Did he have a lot of backup? What instruments/singers backed him up? How big/long were his tours, or did he tour? Did he only perform in Nashville? Was he mostly a recording artist rather than a performer?
Will put on hold now. Please feel free to comment/disagree with me. MathewTownsend (talk) 12:55, 15 July 2012 (UTC)
- ps - there are four dead links marked. MathewTownsend (talk) 17:45, 17 July 2012 (UTC)
- one of the dead links is to a quote, so remove the quote and the dead link, or find a working link for the quote. MathewTownsend (talk) 17:02, 18 July 2012 (UTC)
- CLINT BLACK is a mirror site of wikipedia and can't be used to back up this article. MathewTownsend (talk) 17:20, 18 July 2012 (UTC)
- Mirror site meaning it mirrors the Wikipedia article? I will have to remove the quote as there is not an additional source now that the link to the Smiley interview is dead.
I did most of the TOC changes and am working on the Musical styles and legacy section. Most descriptions of his voice are long on platitudes and short on descriptions. I am thinking using, "His voice is described as a smooth baritone and was initially compared to Merle Haggard."Tomsv 98 (talk) 17:36, 18 July 2012 (UTC)
- reply
Yes, the source was using the wikipedia article. I looked around for another source but couldn't find anything. Great that you are fixing the article and recognize the "platitudes" pitfalls! MathewTownsend (talk) 23:00, 18 July 2012 (UTC)
- I'm still working on it. I'll delete the mirror reference now and figure out what I did delete by using history. Tomsv 98 (talk) 19:32, 19 July 2012 (UTC)
- reply
I added a different quote from another source. Revert if you don't like. Change it to the way you want. MathewTownsend (talk) 18:47, 19 July 2012 (UTC)
- I like it. I did find one other comment he made comparing that album to his previous, but the one you find is much better.Tomsv 98 (talk) 19:32, 19 July 2012 (UTC)
- Collaboration
I did remove that section all except Steve Wariner and Bruce Hornsby are covered elswhere in the article.Tomsv 98 (talk) 19:35, 19 July 2012 (UTC)

I think the article is in good shape now. You can tell from the history that I've made several edits that you are free to change, interspersed with yours. I think its a good article now.

Adding an extra television credit. What sources do I need?
[edit]Hi. I want to add an extra television credit to Clint Black's discography; In the series Transformers: Rescue Bots, Black is credited with the performance of a song, "Light the fire" during the episode "The Riders of Midwinter" (S3E09). What kind of source information do I need to provide to add this? Sunil The Mongoose (talk) 19:10, 18 April 2017 (UTC)
