Austin

[edit]

Austin's Violet Crown is a formation of deep violet clouds seen at sunset in the west, which has a flat bottom and rays pointing from the southeast around to the northeast. It can be seen a few times a year. I saw it tonight. There are no good images of it on google. 70.114.146.227 (talk) 01:39, 7 September 2013 (UTC) Eric[reply]

I took some pictures of a poorly formed Violet Crown on February 14, 2014. It was hardly comparable to the one I saw Sept. 7, 2013, which was almost perfectly formed. This cloud formation only lasts 15 minutes or so at the most. I am uploading one of the photos if I can figure out how to do it. 70.114.146.227 (talk) 01:08, 11 March 2014 (UTC) Eric[reply]
This is a photo of a Violet Crown, Austin, TX

Let's hope we have a better one soon. I hesitate to include this in the article, because it is less than beautiful. Wastrel Way (talk) 01:35, 11 March 2014 (UTC) Eric[reply]

I saw no Violet Crown during the winter of 2014-15. Perhaps we will have a good one next year. 76.253.72.116 (talk) 00:41, 12 June 2015 (UTC)Eric[reply]
