This page is totally incorrect by Landroving Linguist.
His conclusion is not based on any facts .Moreover he is a German with no to connection to the community .
The borana and the burji if you go by oral tradition come from Liban precisely.Furthermore a ethnic groups has nothing to do with Highland and Eastland cushtic.
I urge you to correct the page as it was. There are not even 20000 burji speakers .He is faking numbers.Marsa is a a known burji after whom the city Marsabet is named. The latest conduct by other researches revealed that this language is not even spoken.
He talks about PhD Gollo Hukka Liban who has A Ma,Mrs and a PhD in this field as Fringe theory.Besides that he lived in the Booran and the Burji community where both clans live together .Especially in Magaa and Yabello .I call it fringe that someone with no credentials in this field starts editing and correcting true stories . Thanks for engaging here, which is better than constantly reinserting information. My credentials, whatever they are, are beside the point, as in fact I didn't contribute much material to the page as it stood before the last round of edits. What differentiates the state of the page that I reverted to twice is that it is supported by reliable sources, whereas Gollo Hukka Liban is a selfpublished book without any apparent review process, and therefore not a reliable source according to Wikipedia's standards. Please, acquaint yourself with the rules of Wikipedia before continuing to edit here. If you insist that Gollo's book is a reliable source, the next step is to have this case determined at the Reliable sources noticeboard, which, if invoked, is very likely to affirm what I am stating here. He is a PhD Professor and also used to teach in Addis Ababa at the Addis Ababa University .
First and Foremost the details of his book are precise. You can verify it or tell me how to verify his book .
there are many researches and publishers that do not acknowledge the Burjis as a distinct group .Look at the Kenyan which withdraw 1999 the status as an ethnicity and recognized them as part of booran Oromo. Moreover there aren’t 83000 native speakers. Why do I know that.Cause my family live are to some part Burji and Borana .Less than twenty percent of the Burji population can speak it fluently. And even more and more are assimilating to the Borana Oromo Community by the right of Gogessa.that’s why I am telling you that there are many misinformation.
The Burjis are from a city which is called Liban. Where the Konso,Borana and Burji have their hereitage.
They lived over 600 years together and have the same ancestry (Same father or Fira).
I wouldn’t used this source if it wouldn’t be true .
Dr Liban used to teach at the Addis Ababa university and is a known ethnologist in the booran Oromo,Burji and Konso community . Abel94B (talk) 17:12, 1 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Abel94B, I started a discussion here, where other editors will decide the reliability of Gollo's book as a source for Wikipedia. Please do not reinstate your content (which had many other formal problems and is not up to the standards of Wikipedia) before you have confirmation that Gollo's source is sufficient to contradict all the other sources cited on this page.
