"Ratatata" is a song by Japanese rock band Babymetal and German rock band Electric Callboy. It was released as a single on May 23, 2024.[1][2]

It was later used as the main theme for WWE's 2024 PPV Bash in Berlin.[3]

The two bands later collaborated on an interactive mobile game, featuring "Ratatata" as the only song on its soundtrack.[4]

Background

[edit]

On May 16, 2024, a teaser video surprisingly announced that the two bands would collaborate on new music. It was simultaneously announced that a single entitled "Ratatata" would be released the following week, on May 23.[5][6] They debuted the song live together for the first time two days after the songs release on May 25 in Saitama, Japan as part of Babymetal's Fox Fest.[7]

Compositon

[edit]

Speaking for Consequence, Jon Hadusek described the collaboration between the two bands as "two of the most prominent practitioners of “dance metal” and lives up to its billing. Tech-y metal riffs are infused into a pulsing EDM beat, over which Babymetal and Electric Callboy share vocal duties — the former handling the higher melodies and the latter providing the gutturals and metalcore vox.[8]

Music video
