Welcome to the WikiProject on closed proxies. Some Wikipedians have formed this collaboration resource and group in order to enable editors in filtered countried to edit. This page and its subpages contain their suggestions and various resources; it is hoped that this project will help to focus the efforts of other Wikipedians interested in the effort. News

  • 18:54, 2 November 2007 (UTC) — The project's first proxy server is online! Users who wish to use a proxy server to edit Wikipedia can visit Wikipedia:WikiProject on closed proxies/List of servers to find a server to register on.
  • 21:01, 17 October 2007 (UTC) — WikiProject started. We're currently preparing to roll out proxy servers before we begin accepting small amounts of applicants. We need help; join today! People with experience working with Linux servers and Apache webservers are encouraged.

Goals

  • Coordinate efforts to aid editors in China and other countries that employ government-level filtering of Wikipedia to bypass their firewalls.
