Since it's been about a month since I submitted this entry, I'm wondering whether it's actually in the queue for review or whether I made an error when I submitted it that took it out of the queue. Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/John Wesley Ross Thanks. Ken Alexander Kenrossalex (talk) 02:38, 21 March 2014 (UTC)
- Checked. It is properly submitted. There is a notice at the bottom that reads "Review waiting" and "The Articles for creation process is highly backlogged. Please be patient." Anon126 (talk - contribs) 02:54, 21 March 2014 (UTC)

- It's unclear what you are asking. Can you explain a bit better? There is a page User talk:Yogaraj, but it has only a welcome message on it. Are you the same person? As for User:Yogu Thala/sandbox, I see that you have submitted this for review. It would be failed immediately. There are no references at all, just a broken link to some sort of blog, and it appears to be about yourself. I see that you have also placed the same material at User talk:Yogu Thala and User:Yogu Thala. Are you trying to create a Wikipedia article about someone else or yourself? It is not appropriate to create an article about yourself. For guidance, please read What Wikipedia is not. Voceditenore (talk) 09:10, 21 March 2014 (UTC)

Makari (Band) Deletion.
I received two messages saying that my article has not been accepted.
A page with this title has previously been deleted. If you are creating a new page with different content, please continue. If you are recreating a page similar to the previously deleted page, or are unsure, please first contact the deleting administrator using the information provided below and Your recent article submission to Articles for Creation has been reviewed! The submission has not been accepted because it included copyrighted information, which is not permitted on Wikipedia. You are welcome to write an article on the subject, but please do not use copyrighted work.
I am a little confused by this. Copyright? The band owns this information and it was given to me by my son who is the frontman for this band, with the band's permission to create a Wiki page for them. This is information that was written by the band for public information. As far as a previous article being deleted, I believe that may have been done prematurely and by my son who was struggling to figure out how to submit the article, which is why he asked me to do it.
Can you please respond and give me some advice on how to get this article published? Thank you so much — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tank1105 (talk • contribs) 12:27, 21 March 2014 (UTC)
- Material on Wikipedia has to be freely licensed, which the band's website is presumably not. You could freely license the text as described at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials, but it would probably make more sense simply to write it in your own words. Also, to be accepted as a Wikipedia article, the band would need to meet the notability criteria mentioned in Wikipedia:BAND. Arthur goes shopping (talk) 12:48, 21 March 2014 (UTC)

Hi,
I would like some help on updating/formatting the citations for Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/American Standards. They have been updated in the body of the wiki using the edit page however the changes do not reflect at the bottom of the page under citations.
I'm also hoping to understand how to get the picture of the band to show by the bands name. I reviewed the coding on other artist pages and did a fair amount of research online but still am unable to figure it out. The picture coding is in the edit page but does not appear when I review.
Thank you!

- Hi FoundationAgency. I'm not clear what you mean about changes to the references not reflecting in the citations at the bottom of the page. The references seem to be displaying correctly as far as I can see.
- As regards the image, you need to upload it to either Wikipedia or Wikimedia Commons for it to be useable - having it at picresize.com is no use. If you own the copyright to the image, for example because it's a photograph that you took yourself, then upload it at Wikimedia Commons (with the Upload file link on the left) and then put the filename into the infobox back at the draft Wikipedia article. Hey there! I just submitted our company profile, Bruno Event Team. Also, I noticed that when you google "Bruno Event Team", it brings up the golf tournament Regions Charity Classic. Although they do relate, we don't necessarily want it to bring up that tournament and would rather have Bruno Event Team's wiki pull up first.

Hello Helpdesk, I need some guidance on getting an article posted on Wikipedia. I have attempted several times to post this article: Articles for creation/Zeenyx Software. Twice I have been denied for lack of notability. This most recent attempt included 5 good, reliable third party sources. I studied the notability criteria and believe that my article does in fact meet the requirements. Can you help. Thanks Blesuer (talk) 19:03, 21 March 2014 (UTC)
- Hello Blesuer, let's look at your references:
- 1. is a presentation by the company of its own product
- 2. no link or article title given, but probably more of the same
- 3. is the company's CEO talking about his own company in a trade publication
- 4. was clearly written by the company itself, note "Our solution produces robust, easy to maintain tests, developed without a requirement for programming experience."
- 5. is a presentation by the company of its own product
- Now, read Wikipedia:Notability (organizations and companies) and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations, which will put all this into context for you.

- Hi Kit. I've removed it as well as the categorization tag and the stub tag. In future, you can do this as well, provided you feel that what the tag s were flagging up is now remedied. Best, Voceditenore (talk) 20:43, 21 March 2014 (UTC)
I created a page on behalf of my company, with my company name as the username. It was rejected, because Wikipedia's rules state you cannot create a page on behalf of a company (along with some other issues I think I resolved and changed in the copy). I created a page with my own username, and copied the Wikitext to be approved to that page and sent it in for approval. Unfortunately, before I realized the issue with the username, I sent in my company username page to be approved as well. Will I be penalized for having submitted 2 pages with the same copy to be approved? What is the best way to deal with this issue? I just want one page under my username to be reviewed for approval.

Dear Reviewer, I am an exchange student from China recently study at University of Massachusetts, Boston. I study as a graduate at the American Studies Program. My name is Xiuyue Lu. It's very nice to talk to you.
Creating an article on wiki is an very important component of my American Popular Culture and Technology course. We are required to submit an article and analyse the audience's reception of the article. But since now the review is heavily blocked, I cannot get my article published on time. I really worries me. If I cannot publish it sooner, I cannot hand in a report which should due on mid-April.
Hope you can kindly help me! I really appreciate what you have done! I know you guys are all volunteers, I really admire your sacrifice and passion. Wish you all the best! Yours, Xiuyue Mindhunter333 (talk) 03:41, 22 March 2014 (UTC)

- You have not resubmitted the article for review - in fact nobody has touched it at all since 19 October 2013 when the last review was done. There are no references at all, so where are these "Third party proofs"? We will not Google anything, we will not search for news and magazine article that you claim exist, we do not care about anything at the Hindi Wikipedia does. It is your responsibility to properly reference these sources that you claim exist. Please see Referencing for beginners for guidance. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 17:51, 22 March 2014 (UTC)

- Have you looked at the pink review box at the top of the page yet? The reason for the decline is explained there and there are also various links to pages that contain guidance on how to fix the problem. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 20:11, 22 March 2014 (UTC)
- @Courtneyscole: First, presumably you are the same Courtney Cole that is the Executive Director at Missouri Senate Democrats? You already declared that you are the campaign manager for Paul LeVota, so you have a conflict of interest and you shouldn't be writing articles like these. Secondly, the article has no references at all which violates WP:CITE. If I were you, I would gather reliable sources and ask a disinterested third-party to write this article. Wikipedia is not here to help your campaign. Chris Troutman (talk) 21:03, 22 March 2014 (UTC)
I'm not sure I understand why the submission has been declined this time. I checked the criteria of notability: - Added multiple references to huge websites such as Deadline.com, The Wrap, Variety and The Hollywood Reporter. All of the websites are in the Top 5000 most visited websites in the world according to Alexa.com. The four articles used as references are specifically about the subject, three of them include photos of him and are 100% focused on his career. They are independent of the subject and reliable. - He played in "Harry Potter" and recently filmed one of the main characters of a feature directed by Ron Howard. Again, I proved this by adding references to reliable websites such as "The Independent".
I don't understand how he can still be considered as a "non-notable person". Thank you in advance for your clarification.

Review of Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Cisco ASA - plus removal of unnecessary redirection
Dear AfC Reviewer: Once the page Cisco ASA is approved for creation, the link of Cisco ASA redirecting to Cisco PIX#Adaptive Security Appliance (ASA) must be removed as it will now have its own page. KlarkKent (talk) 03:41, 23 March 2014 (UTC)

Hello,
I submitted an article on Anna Hashimoto, a young virtuosic Clarinetist and it was turned down for non-notability. I am independent of the subject and really think she is notable enough, according to WP:MUS notability guidelines, as I understand it, she would be notable under points 6, 9 and 12. My reasoning is thus:
- Point 6, she has performed several concerto's with some of the most prominent Orchestra's in the world, she has also performed as principal Clarinet with some of the most prominent Orchestra's in the world.
- Point 9, she has won two of the most major Clarinet competitions in existence.
- Point 12, cited in the article a BBC Radio 3 interview and performance, also been broadcast on NHK TV and FM, FM Tokyo, ABC Radio and BBC Radio 3 on other occasions as well as featuring on NHK-FM's 'Best of Classic' and NHK TV's 'Classic Club' (in a joint recital).
The article is located at: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:Articles_for_creation/Anna_Hashimoto
I would appreciate any assistance anyone could provide. Have tried to provide thorough and multiple reputable sources (once I started to understand what one of those was) but as I said, any assistance or help someone could provide would be gratefully received.
Thankyou.

Review of User:Kanawishi/Five Against Venus
I have no idea of how to establish notability for a science-fiction novel from the 1950's, when science fiction was a literary ghetto. You should delete this submission and not have anyone waste any more time on it.Kanawishi (talk) 16:53, 23 March 2014 (UTC)
- Hi Kanawishi, don't be discouraged. It is difficult because of its age and genre and the lack of easily accessible independent sources and reviews, but they do exist. The author (Robert S. Richardson) is notable. The book was published not only in English (3 printings), but also in Dutch [1] and German [2], and sources about it exist at The Encyclopedia of Science Fiction here, and in various other publications here, here. here, probably a fair amount here (but only available as a snippet view on Google books, so you'd need to find it in a library). There's also this review in Kirkus Reviews. This page on the Internet Speculative Fiction Database gives list of all the published reviews of the book. Since this draft is still in your user space. Simply remove the decline notice for now. Take your time and keep working on it. Give me a shout on my talk page when you think it might be ready, and I'll have a look at it. Voceditenore (talk) 11:00, 24 March 2014 (UTC)
- Notability is established by referencing information about the topic to significant coverage in independent reliable sources. You may wish to take a look at the References section for another science-fiction novel from the 1950's, The Stars My Destination, to see how it was done in that instance. Dear Sir/Madam, My Properly Referenced Article About A Pakistani Writer/Poet Stub was declined after a review awaiting more than 3 Weeks. I would request to Please grant a second Review of The Same At Earliest Thereby Accounting For Following 3 rd Party Notable/Reliable References as Per Wikipedia's guidelines:-
This Article is about A Pakistani Poet Stub And is Supported by Two Reliable Sources,i.e, The Prominent English Newspaper The News Story/Article About The Poet & His Recently Published Book in its Publication Dated 9 th Feb, 2013(web link Given Therein), whereas, the Second Notability Source Is Government Of Pakistan's Writers' Directory Profile On Its Pakistan Academy Of Letters' website Showing The Writer/Poet's Details Alongwith Publication( web link Given In Referencing); In The Presence Of The Above Cited Two Reliable/Verifiable Sources I Am Completely At A a Loss To Understand The Reasons Of Your Rejection. - Hello, Azhartokyo. I have cleaned up and formatted your draft, but I'm afraid there simply isn't enough to demonstrate notability. There is one article about his first and only poetry collection in the Karachi edition of The News International and his self-written profile in the PAL Writers' Directory. This is not enough to pass the inclusion criteria for Wikipedia. You need multiple reviews of his work, evidence of awards for it, and multiple independent, in-depth coverage of Azhar Naazir himself. Please read our guidelines at Wikipedia:Notability (people). You are also going to have a problem because Azhar Naazir was inappropriately created as an article so many times that it will require an administrator to move it into article space. There were also multiple attempts to create the article under the inappropriate title Azhar Naazir (Poet) ( اظہر ناظر )(اردو شا عر). Are you using two accounts? There appear to be two editors with similar names submitting this draft, see Azhar01 (talk · contribs). If you are the same person, please read this page for guidance. These user names are also very similar to the name of the article's subject. If you are the article's subject or have a personal or business affiliation to him, please read WP:Autobiography. Voceditenore (talk) 09:54, 24 March 2014 (UTC)
Hello! Voceditenore! First of All Please Accept my Gratitude for cleaning up/formatting my Article About Azhar Naazir, I feel fortunate enough that my query here caught your Attention. Thanks A Lot Again. Regarding your further queries & Record Of Multiple Submissions of subject Article InAppropriately, the Explanations follow:- A) The Main Reason for Multiple Submisdions In InAppropriate format may be Attributed to not understanding the Proper Editing formats, for which I tender my Apologies here and am really thankful for your timely help.I should have come on this Platform earlier to have a better understanding of where I Am wrong. B) I use only Azhartokyo login id. C) As Regards your 'The News' Intl story of Writer/Poet's Publication & Detailed Introductory Article, for treating it as reliable source I am grateful; D) Regarding your Observation about PAL Profile Information, I do hereby clarify that Pakistan Academy Of Letters' Website is Officially being maintained by Government Of Pakistan and The Writers' Introductory Profiles are updated Against their Publications by Academy Itself, So, these details on Academy's Website are Also Not Self Written By Writer/Poet , as the Site is being Administered by Academy Of Letters, Pakistan by Itself and updated Periodically by them, So, the second source may also be treated as Reliable & Independent. E) Lastly, as you pointed to the similarity of Article's subject with id names, it merely co-incides as the id is not Azhar Naazir itself, And Azhar Naazir is an independent Subject. Moreover, as you pointed out due to Multiple In Accurate Submissions the Article needs to be Approved/ moved to Article Space By An Administrator, I would like yo know how to Approach An Administrator And Re Submit The Same. I Shall Be Eagerly waiting for your Response. Thanks Again.Azhartokyo (talk) 14:29, 24 March 2014 (UTC).
- Azhartokyo , if the article is approved here, the reviewer will contact an administrator about moving it. However, there simply is not enough evidence from these two sources to demonstrate that it meets the criteria for inclusion. No reviewer will approve it in its current state. Once again, please read my original comments carefully and the guidelines that I have linked there. If this draft were moved into article space in its current state, it would be immediately taken to a deletion discussion where it would almost certainly deleted. You need to find multiple in-depth coverage of this person and his work before it can be created as an article. I wish I had better news for you. Voceditenore (talk) 19:17, 24 March 2014 (UTC)
Thanks A lot Voceditenore! I am so grateful to you Again for helping with My Article, Sure, I ll try to provide some more links/sources, but only wished it to be Approved as a Short Stub To Start With in the Presence of 2 Reliable /Verifiable Sources Initially, To Be Expanded later when More Links Are Available.Any How It looks Much Better After Your Kind Help & I do hope That Wikipedia Considers It for Inclusion As A Short Stub To Start With In Its a Present Shape. I Shall take the liberty to revert to you in case I Add more links for your kind opinion Again! With Lots Of Prayers for You!Stay Blessed.Azhartokyo (talk) 21:10, 24 March 2014 (UTC).
Proposed article on the renouveau catholique
Concerning the proposed article on the renouveau catholique, you might like to tkae look at the German version of Wikipedia which has an article on this subject which will provide an idea of what would appear in English. There really would not be much point in providing a full scale article to have it rejected by editors who are not expert in the field and not au fait with a very significant research subject currently under way in the German universities, especially in the Heidelberg. We refer you to the work of Kullmann and Lucksheiter. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.251.194.64 (talk) 23:58, 23 March 2014 (UTC)
- The German Wikipedia article is at de:Renouveau catholique. Have you started the draft here on English Wikipedia? If so, can you provide a link to it?. Or do you just want some advice on whether you should? It is definitely a notable topic and several Wikipedia articles already have a red link for it [3]. If you register an account, you don't have to use the Articles for Creation process. You can simply create the article directly. Whichever path you choose, I suggest you provide a good range of references and cite the article meticulously. I suggest reading Wikipedia:Your first article for further guidance. Voceditenore (talk) 09:18, 24 March 2014 (UTC)
- and, 92.251.194.64, take a look at Wikipedia:Translation/German/Translation advice, which is valuable even for those expert in both languages. Looking at the eWP article, I would make an effort to use as alternatively or additionally, sources in English--of which there are many. I'd also tailor the examples to people to enWP has articles on, link to appropriate enWP articles, and, because just as you say our readers characteristically have considerably weaker academic background in such areas, provide more context. (Even for the deWP, I find it strange that the lede paragraph doesn't immediate give the chronological period). DGG ( talk ) 01:44, 25 March 2014 (UTC)

- Hello Mustafay007. Are you trying to create an article here on Wikipedia or at Wikispecies? Wikispecies is an entirely different project. If you wish to create an article there, you need to go to their help page. Voceditenore (talk) 07:36, 24 March 2014 (UTC)
Hi Team,
Hope you are doing good.
I really appreciate wikipedian's contribution. This time, I have a question and definitely need your help. Actually, I have created an article https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:Articles_for_creation/giikers. So I don't know the why it is rejected by wikipedia so please let me know the exact reason and please help or guide me to publish this article on wikipedia.
Thanks, Muktesh — Preceding unsigned comment added by Muktesh.kmr (talk • contribs) 04:06, 24 March 2014 (UTC)
- The exact reason is given in the grey box on the decline notice on the top of your draft:
- "This submission appears to read more like an advertisement than an entry in an encyclopedia. Encyclopedia articles need to be written from a neutral point of view, and should refer to a range of independent, reliable, published sources, not just to materials produced by the creator of the subject being discussed. This is important so that the article can meet Wikipedia's verifiability policy and the notability of the subject can be established. If you still feel that this subject is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia, please rewrite your submission to comply with these policies."
- I strongly suggest you click on the blue links in the decline reason and read our policies and guidelines. Voceditenore (talk) 07:29, 24 March 2014 (UTC)
Hi
I have made a mistake by leaving my IP address while editing a page (with another name) : is it possible to erase the IP adress or the old page (empty now) with this bad history (still in the Namespace Articles for creation) ?
Thank you for your answer.
Morenglish (talk) 05:59, 24 March 2014 (UTC)
- Hi Morenglish. Yes, it is possible. Wikipedia:Requests for oversight, explains how to request removal of that information. Voceditenore (talk) 06:21, 24 March 2014 (UTC)
- Thank you for your quick answer, and nice that it possible ! Morenglish (talk) 06:28, 24 March 2014 (UTC)
Hi-
My article was rejected. I included only secondary sources, and followed the notability guidelines. This is the second time it has been rejected. Can anyone help me figure out what needs to be changed?
Thanks,
Bonnie Farber username: Bonniefarber (Bonniefarber (talk) 13:59, 24 March 2014 (UTC))
- I don't think it's likely to meet our notability standard. First of all, the references are essentially press releases, which we do not consider reliable, even if a trade paper or local business paper reprints them. (Bloomberg is just a listing, good enough to establish the basic facts about the company, but not notability) Second, I'm not sure I'd expect better references, because I see only relatively minor awards. A bronze award in one of many categories art a trade show ins not significant importance, and neither are "best workplace" awards. The possible significant awards are only the best of show gold, and I do not see references to them. I say only possible, because we'd need to have some evidence that this is the major national show of recognized importance. DGG ( talk ) 01:34, 25 March 2014 (UTC)
Hello I'm not sure the status of this page. It shows it's still in review but someone just commented on it within the past 15 hours. Not sure what the new comments are.

Hello,
Curious as to why my submission was declined and how I can make it better?

- Hi, the submission was declined for the reasons given in the pink box at the top of the submission page. Click on the links in the decline reason for more information. Arthur goes shopping (talk) 14:56, 24 March 2014 (UTC)
- I don't consider this kind of reply very helpful after someone has come here. or to an individual talk page. If they haven't read or understood it, they need some specific assistance. the purpose of this page is to give personal assistance; we're people. We're people, not bots, and shouldn't act like ones, or make them come back once again. (I'm not intending to blame Arthur in particular, for I've seen it all too often from many people. )
- So, to follow my own advice: There is no reason to think a city amateur rowing club notable, unless it can be shown by references providing substantial coverage from 3rd party independent published reliable sources, print or online, but not press release. The references here are from the club's own site, or are routine notices elsewhere. The normal reason to expect the necessary coverage is if the club or its members have won notable prizes at a national level. The article says some of the members have, so list them, along with references. Even so, the necessary coverage must be about the club itself not just the specific individuals. If you can find the materials, you can probably write a satisfactory article. To do so, include only material that will be of interest to the general public The material here in what you did write is the sort of detail that belongs on the club's own website--it's really addressed only to prospective members in the area. When you've rewritten this accordingly, then resubmit it. DGG ( talk ) 22:01, 24 March 2014 (UTC)
- That's not correct. In cases where an editor has not read the decline reason, it is entirely helpful and constructive to tell them where to find it. A very large proportion of AfC article submitters who ask questions here about a declined submission have not read the decline reason. This is mostly because of the unfortunate arrangement that the decline message the editor sees tells them that their submission has been declined, but does not include the decline reason. A prompt reply to such queries is important to make the submitter aware that more information is available to them. Arthur goes shopping (talk) 10:13, 25 March 2014 (UTC)
Article submission help
Hello, my article "Sean Rush" has been rejected and I'd like to know how I can fix it. It says it had copyrighted information but I cited everything. Also, can you have direct quotes in an article if they are cited?
SeanRushAtelier (talk) 18:32, 24 March 2014 (UTC)Sean
- SeanRushAtelier, please do not paste drafts here. I have removed it, not only because it is inappropriate to paste drafts here, but because it is copied virtually verbatim from http://www.seanrush.com/#!about/c786. Your first draft was not rejected. It was deleted outright as a copyright infringement. If you try to recreate it at Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Sean Rush (artist) with the same text you pasted here, it will once again be speedily deleted. Even if it were not a copyright infringement, it was so hopelessly and blatantly promotional, that it would probably be speedily deleted on those grounds alone. Your user name suggests that you are closely associated with the subject. Please read WP:Autobiography and WP:Conflict of interest before going any further with this attempt at creating an article. Then read Wikipedia:Notability (people) and WP:Reliable sources. – Voceditenore (talk) 18:52, 24 March 2014 (UTC)
Article rejection
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:Articles_for_creation/Adam_Bartley the above referenced article has been rejected again, and I don't understand why. There are plenty of independent references, the actor is real, appearing in a recurring role on the networks highest rated drama. What am I doing wrong? I have already altered based on the first rejection's recommendations. Not sure what I can do to fix it. I would really appreciate yoyr help. 50.188.152.12 (talk) 18:40, 24 March 2014 (UTC)
- I've fixed some incorrect code for the references. Note that they should look like
<ref>...</ref>
(pay attention to the punctuation). - I only see two reliable sources in the artice: Pioneer Press (twincities.com) and Dallas Morning News (dallasnews.com). Much of the article is still supported by references to IMDb, which, as the comments on the draft explain, is not considered reliable. All information should be verifiable, especially when it is about a living person. I suggest getting rid of the IMDb references (the external links are okay, though) and finding other sources to support the rest of the information. I care about the quality of Wikipedia articles and very much appreciate the time that reviewers put into this valuable common resource. But I would nonetheless like to contest rejection of my entry https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Shaypar/Alfonso_Dávila_Ortiz Wikipedia talk: Articles for creation/Alfonso_Dávila_Ortiz
This entry is backed up with no less than 12 references and numerous links to websites in the text. Out of the 12 references, 9 are published books with ISBN numbers or chapters by respected publishers. Yes, most of them are in Spanish because Colombia's language is Spanish, but this does not make them any less worthy than those published in English. I have seen plenty of entries about US or British politicians or business people with far fewer references, and many make do with just a few references to websites. This fuels a sneaking suspicion that there is a very strong Anglo-Saxon bias in the English version of Wikipedia which this rejection does little to assuage. And please do not take this as a emotional blackmail of the PC kind. It is a genuine belief that there is an unhealthy Anglo-Saxon-centric view of the world which, in the long run, is detrimental to what ought to be a genuinely valuable common resource.
Shaypar (talk) 19:24, 24 March 2014 (UTC)
- I reviewed it earlier. As I said then, it does show notability. I consider the review of 24 March erroneous, because it did not take into account the rules for WP:POLITICIAN. But there are three remaining problems: first, the specific key facts of the career need references. It should for example be easy to find references for the ambassadorships. Second, the article was written in a rather promotional style, with adjectives of praise. and redundant wordy expressions. I did a preliminary run through to give you an example of what I mean, and removed many of them from the first two sections. Now check for the others. Check also for claims of political importance, because these are only usable if you have a reliable third party source. Third, and least important, there were some significant style errors: you linked to the web pages of universities and other organizations, where you needed to link to our articles on them--I changed a few as an example. , but you need to check for others and see if there are other possible links. You also needed to do section headings properly--I fixed that.
- I took the liberty of resubmitting it. Although it's borderline acceptable now, please clean up the rest quickly before it gets reviewed. DGG ( talk ) 22:17, 24 March 2014 (UTC)
Hi,
My article was rejected, and it is very important that I find a way to remedy whatever was problematic in order to resubmit and hopefully be accepted.

Hi WikiProject New Articles for creation Help,
As advised, I have now extensively edited and added a number of additional references, in an effort to comply with the suggested criticism and prior to my anticipated future resubmission for Wikipedia New Section reconsideration.
Please see link: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:Articles_for_creation/No_Oil_Producing_and_Exporting_Act_of_2007_%28NOPEC%29
Please also see, in the "History," a correction of my original submission heading/title, where the missing word "Cartels" that had been inadvertently omitted in the original, has now been properly added.
Please also see that while my complete and most-current edit IS very accurately reflected in the current "Edit" window, that is Not the case in the actual, most-current "Read" view. I have clicked on the "Show preview" and subsequently, the "Save Page," also. However, neither effort has updated the current "Read" view to accurately reflect my latest modifications, as they are properly displayed in the current "Edit" view.
Please advise me as to how I can proceed to correct this issue. I would also greatly appreciate any additional suggestion that could be beneficial in gaining acceptance, prior to my New Section resubmission.
Thank you for your kind assistance.
Sincerely,
Robert (Prevenient)

- I think you've successfully established the notability. But what would help before we accept it is to add a paragraph of basic biography in the text: birthplace and date, education, early career if any before Lycos. The names of the colleges are in the infobox, but we need dates also. then add section headings for the phases of his career. DGG ( talk ) 21:39, 24 March 2014 (UTC)

I saw that this article was declined. I don't understand why? Matthew has traveled over 300,000 miles in the US over the last three years, all on film, met thousands of people, maintains an organically generated social media audience of 16,000+, has released two films for 2014 Grammy Nominated Dream Theater keyboardist Jordan Rudess, three major cable tv pilots, a feature length filn, and was well known enough to walk into Seattle and be recognized and harassed by people who oppose his film work. How can you say this guy is not notable. That makes no sense.

Imdb is a credible source for tv pilot information. It's the only credible source currently available. Imdb's editorial staff confirms these credits with the distributors and networks.
YouTube us used by everyone in the industry regardless of their status. In fact, 2014 Grammy Nominated Dream theater was nominated for a Grammy for a song, in which the video was solely released on YouTube, Enemy Inside.
I'm trying to understand. Evidence of this persons notability is everywhere. I know Matt, personally. He was walking down the street in Miami Beach other day. He signed over 20 autographs for his work with Jordan Rudess. The guy just participated in getting the director of the Ohio EPA removed from office. He outed in Akron, Ohio that hundreds of people have been exposed to toxic waste. His accomplishments are legendary, all over the country.
I can't understand how a guy who can walk into a city, get spotted, and then get harassed by opposition is not notable. Regardless of sources. That happened. The people who caused it to happen are even publicly touting it happened. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Middleamericajames (talk • contribs) 08:10, 25 March 2014 (UTC)
- @Middleamericajames: Did you click help links given above by Voceditenore? Subject requires significant coverage in the secondary, independent and reliable sources. See, Wikipedia reliable source examples. Anupmehra -Let's talk! 09:50, 25 March 2014 (UTC)
Matthew is intensely private. He refuses to do interviews. So what you are saying is that I can have him send an e-mail to one of his hundreds of national press contracts, ask them to write some national articles about him, in which they will re-print his exact words, the same story listed in his wikipedia article, and then he is notable? That's hilarious.
Matthew also works with a 2013 Emmy Winning writer for Modern Family and is probably one of the most well connected guys in L.A. Since he is, in fact, notable, your policy is about to be bypassed. It's also going to express what a farce your system for verification is. In that context I can probably talk Matt into doing some interviews. He loves finding cracks in the system and exposing them.
My own observation here is that Matt is undeniably notable in reality. Your suggestion that he isn't is laughabl and quite insulting to Matthew. Can you imagine living with thousands of people personally attacking you only to have a small group tell you that you are nobody? Seriously guys. wow. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Middleamericajames (talk • contribs) 17:08, 25 March 2014 (UTC)
UPDATE: I talked with Matt. He's a funny guy. He said, "OK, so I can just ask some friends in the industry to publish an article about my thoughts on how stupid wikipedia's source verification system is, get it published all over the world and then I'm notable?? OK. I can do that!"
LOL
Guys... can you please put some effort into this article? Matt is about to release the trailer for Death Water, a film that reveals that almost 60 million Americans have been exposed to hexavalent chromium by The Department of Defense, all confirmed by public record.
The problem here is that Matt does not want to be notable. He uses social media in the capacity of getting his work out but he stays out of the spotlight because he is not an attention whore. Also, stepping into a spotlight, making himself a well known documentarian is not beneficial to his career, or for the type of work he does. His work is very controversial. Think about if Morgan Spurlock, or Michael Moore showed up in your neighborhood in a fake mustache to do a hidden camera investigation. The more aticles that are published about Matthew, himself, the less he is able to work to expose toxic waste dumps. If everyone knows who he is, he's out of business, essentially.
I am the one who is trying to convince Matt to do more things in public, do more press, and to get this wikipedia article. Since he is, in fact, notable people are able to get aggressive with him, with him having no way of defending himself in the form of an offical record. He is all over the country enduring meritless, vicious personal attacks, which are very publicly visible in search engines, that are effecting his life. He's getting death threats. Having an article would greatly help Matt in his work simply because it would give people a moderately reliable source to confirm information about him since people all over the country are talking about him.
I know Matt was just being sarcastic, but what he said was true. He's that kind of guy who does stuff like that, just like the mayor of Key West. I feel like more could be done here. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Middleamericajames (talk • contribs) 17:53, 25 March 2014 (UTC)
- James, "notable" in the Wikipedia sense has nothing to do with either "fame" or "accomplishment" or "importance". We are not a publisher of original material. We only publish summaries of what has been written about a subject in reliable secondary sources. If the subject has not been covered outside of Wikipedia in those sources, we cannot publish it. Those aspects of Wikipedia are non-negotiable. On the one hand you seem mto be saying that you want/need the article to publicize his work. Well, that's not what we're for. On the other hand, you say he's an intensely private person and the Wikipedia article will protect him in some way. Well for starters, that's never a reason for us to publish an article. And equally important, if he is an intensely private person, a Wikipedia is probably the last thing he should have. Ask him to read Wikipedia:An article about yourself isn't necessarily a good thing. In any case all this is moot. If his film is successful and makes an impact, it will be covered widely. That's when a Wikipedia article is appropriate. Not the other way around. Voceditenore (talk) 18:18, 25 March 2014 (UTC)
Cool. Cool. Monsanto and The Department of Defense win again, people stay poisoned with toxic waste, and Wikipedia supports this. Matt does not need Wikipedia to promote his name or work. That statement is borderline insulting. As a matter of fact, much like Metallica, Matt is becoming famous in a grass roots style that directly opposes the very mainstream media sources you so depend upon for "accurate information."
Every aspect of Matthew's life has been placed out in public by really horrible people. He can't even say his name, anywhere, without enduring a personal attack. When he undergoes these personal attacks people scour the internet for reliable information about him leaving the only available sources as "things put there by Monsanto." That's great. Great job Wikipedia. What a joke. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Middleamericajames (talk • contribs) 18:27, 25 March 2014 (UTC)

I think all of you make a lot of assumptions and check zero facts. Did you know that it's possible for someone to become well known and notable in this country simply by traveling hundreds of thousands of miles and meeting everyone without doing a single interview? Your litmus test for notability is faulty. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Middleamericajames (talk • contribs) 12:01, 26 March 2014 (UTC)
Hi guys,
This is Matthew Berdyck. I'm just getting to read all of this. Can I say how I really feel? I don't give a shit about any of this. Four years ago, I was a legally disabled homeless person sitting in the streets of Portland, Oregon with nothing but a wrecked life and a death wish. Now I'm sitting here reading about my own notability on Wikipedia and my work for Jordan from Dream Theater, a 2014 Grammy Nominee, with a death wish. How is that for perspective. Wikipedians, I am happy just to sleep in a bed and not on concrete, right now. You do what you have to do. I'll keep living my life.

The credibility of Imdb.
As someone who works in L.A. in the film industry Imdb can be contentious. In the context of certifying shows that have been done within the scope of Hollywood it's reliable. Imdb independently confirms tv pilots with the proposed networks and distributors and thenm lists them as "tv movies." I'd submitted an article about someone I trying to get on Wikipedia. I was told that the Imdb credits were "unreliable." They are not. Imdb does not let people fake legitimate television credits. Is there a clarification of this policy of discrediting legitimate information just because it's listed on Imdb? Truth be told, there is nowhere else to certify a tv pilot other than imdb unless one were to post the pitch e-mails.
Any thoughts on this subject would be appreciated.
JamesMiddleamericajames (talk) 08:03, 25 March 2014 (UTC)
- @Middleamericajames: I can understand where you're coming from and you may be right about verification. I hadn't taken part in the earlier discussions about Imdb as a source, so longer-time Wikipedians can reply about that. My understanding is that a large number of people in the industry have access to edit Imdb, which makes the data unreliable (which is why you can't cite Wikipedia, either. It's just as untrustworthy if not more so.) Additionally, this is an encyclopedia. If your intent is to write about a pilot episode or very recent production we can't fairly judge its importance contemporaneously. I'm a history major and I'd be fine waiting a hundred years before writing about anything in order to avoid recentism. Furthermore, writing about The African Queen attracts academic study. Writing about a pilot episode attracts promotional material. Wikipedia tries to avoid becoming a public relations receptacle. These are just my thoughts and not policy. I hope they help. Chris Troutman (talk) 08:19, 25 March 2014 (UTC)
In this case I am referring to Matthew Berdyck. I guess I am unclear. Part of his story is that ten months into his career his work was so impressive that he was contacted by Adult Swim. Imdb independently confirmed this fact, production photos are all over the internet. In the context of promotions a "failed" tv pilot is considered a closed project. One could not benefit from attempting to promote something that is not publicly available or has not been monetized. In the context of the article it was adding to historical content which establishes credibility.
The issue with Imdb, and I have problems with it as well, is that anyone can certify a credit for anything, as long as they have a blog, a Facebook, and a trailer. This means anyone who has a computer, windows movie maker, and Facebook is now a "film maker." My question, however is specifically related to the credits on Imdb for major cable network tv pilots. In cases where networks are involved Imdb's editorial staff makes independent confirmation or else you could say you were in the pilot episode of ER, or something similar. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Middleamericajames (talk • contribs) 08:27, 25 March 2014 (UTC)
Hello again, Middleamericajames-
- IMDb is not considered a reliable source because it doesn't not have adequate levels of editorial oversight or author credibility and lack assured persistence. One exception being that certain film authorship (screenwriting) credits on IMDb, specifically those which are provided by the Writer's Guild of America, can be considered to be adequately reliable.
- Blogs/Facebook/Twiiter/MySpace/YouTube etc., are considered primary sources (WP:NOYT) and if verified accounts, could be used sometimes for verification purpose, like, d.o.b, middle name, etc. but not for some outstanding claim (WP:SELFPUB).
- As per Wikipedia general notability guideline, primary sources does not help to establish notability of the subject. Subject requires significant coverage in the secondary, independent and reliable sources (WP:42). This is why reviewers do not count blogs/facebook/twitter/youtube while assessing your submission page against notability guideline.
- If you are still not satisfied regarding reliable sources, I'll request you to raise your concerns at Wikipedia reliable source noticeboard. If you have some more questions related to your submission page, I'd love to answer them here. Anupmehra -Let's talk! 10:31, 25 March 2014 (UTC)
Imdb most certainly does have editorial oversight over "tv movies." I think a lack of experience in the film industry and a lack of understanding of how Imdb's system works is leading you to express your opinions rather actual reality. An regular person CANNOT add television credits to Imdb. That is a FACT.
What I am not satisfied with is knowing that my friend is famous enough to sign autographs, everyday, and endure endless public attacks all over the country but wikipedia can't take the time to watch or investigate the content of these sources, which is what really matters. Where can I object to this lazy form of investigation of sources? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Middleamericajames (talk • contribs) 17:19, 25 March 2014 (UTC)
- We have investigated the content of these sources. They do not attest to his passing the criteria for inclusion here. You have been linked to the inclusion criteria and to the types of sources that are acceptable for attesting to his passing those criteria. If you want to write an article on your friend, then you must find the types of references that support his inclusion. Railing at experienced editors simply because you don't like Wikipedia's policies is a waste of your time and ours. If his pilot listed on IMDB made a significant impact, you should be able to find press articles about it and him in reliable sources. So far you have not provided a single one. Voceditenore (talk) 17:42, 25 March 2014 (UTC)
You haven't invetsigated anything, at all. You looked at the format of the links, and said, "Nope." When it states that Matthew has traveled 300,000 miles, there is a link to YouTube of FILM showing that he did the travel.
I am not trying to list a pilot. I am trying to use the Imdb credit as a source for the statement in the article. It says Matt made a major cable network pilot, then lists the Imdb link. You say that source is not credible. The pilot itself is not notable but it is a confirmble part of Matt's article.
As far as criticizing experience editors, I am a professional researcher. I am part of the team that uncovered the fact that sixty million people have been poisoned with toxic waste by The DOD without being informed. I know how to investigate and confirm facts. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Middleamericajames (talk • contribs) 18:13, 25 March 2014 (UTC)
- Being a professional researcher of original material is entirely different from what is required here. Wikipedia does not publish original research or investigations. We only summarize what has been covered in reliable secondary and tertiary sources and we only publish articles on subjects which have received significant in-depth coverage in such sources. Voceditenore (talk) 18:25, 25 March 2014 (UTC)
I find it deliciously ironic that Matt's work directly discredits about 90% of your "reliable sources." How perverse. We have a man who is undermining the system, and outing journalistic corruption all over the country, showing these secondary credibile sources you depend upon are entirely not credible. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Middleamericajames (talk • contribs) 18:32, 25 March 2014 (UTC)
My last observation here is that there are some really crazy forces at work in Matt's life because of what he does for a living. He's exposing the government, it's contractors, national media outlets for misreporting, mayors, and anyone else who covers up an EPA Superfund toxic waste dump. I can assure you that you refusing to publish an article is playing right into those forces hands. Seeing this happen right now is eye opening. If you were looking for any form of truth in your life you'd find it right here if you'd also open your eyes. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Middleamericajames (talk • contribs) 18:50, 25 March 2014 (UTC)
- there are excellent places and ways of promoting a cause; our purpose is different. to the extent we promote any cause whatsoever, no matter how important, we diminish our own credibility. Expert research has a very important place in the world, but not here. It is certainly true that from the perspective of an activist, our approach of relying upon sources and the published consensus of experts inevitably places a certain weight on the status quo, on the establishment. The very nature of an enterprise dedicated to recording what exists in the world favors what already exists, not what changes ought to exist. To the extent I have been an activist in some RW things, I didn't and wouldn't think of coming here for the purpose. Everything you say here leads me to the conclusion that what you are trying to do is harmful to the encyclopedia. This is not a place for protecting the environment: efforts to do so should be carried out more directly. DGG ( talk ) 04:57, 26 March 2014 (UTC)
- Was invited to stop by and am going to add my two cents, as Wikipedia editor for 6 years and as an actor (of sorts) for over 15.
- IMDB is NOT user edited. While anyone may submit information to them, only paid IMDB staff members have the yes or no buttons... and it is those staffers members who control what content makes it to their database or not. The proper term is "user submitted", not "user edited". But the issue still remains that IMDb does not reveal the level of or describe the vetting processes used within their editorial processes. And the site is considered unreliable because it includes a whole lot of unvetted information... actor biographies, forums and trivia jump immediately to mind.
- A TV pilot is like any other film or television pilot. Simple existence is not enough to show notability for a separate article. In a BLP, any questioned assertion requires verifiability in reliable soures. Period. In the case of Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Matthew Berdyck, we have too many things stated that require reliable sources. IMDB is generally acceptable for information about cast and crew of released works because that same information can be found in the on-screen credits of those released projects. If you have a press article statingt he he submitted a pilot, then fine. If you have any press articles telling us that he exposes the government, it's contractors, national media outlets for misreporting, mayors, and anyone else who covers up an EPA Superfund toxic waste dump, please bring them forward.
- That article was rejected under WP:RS and WP:V. Read WP:NPOV. Read WP:NOR. Also, read the article on Internet Movie Database and then the essay WP:CITINGIMDB. Archived discussions 1 and 2 shed some light on current impressions of IMDB among Wikipedians.
- 1. Reliable source: http://www.ohio.com/news/local-news/epa-begins-new-review-of-superfund-cleanup-at-akron-s-summit-equipment-1.356906 but one that does not deal in any manner with Berdyck
- 2. Fair source for screen credits, as these are verifiable to the film itself: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2823486/?ref_=nm_flmg_dr_8
- 3. Poor source under WP:SPS. Anyone with the ability can create a film and upload it to YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zWzAFQjpc08
- 4. Poor source under WP:SPS. Personal blogs fail reliability. Anyone with the ability can create andpost a blog.
- 5. Poor source under WP:SPS. Anyone with the ability can create a film and upload it to YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nOL8YxX-iEs
- #6. Poor source under WP:SPS. Anyone with the ability can create a film and upload it to YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aKTg9LOtw1w
- 7. Iffy source under WP:QUESTIONABLE, WP:USERGENERATED, and WP:SELFPUB: http://www.matthewberdyck.com Limited usability ONLY IF the material is neither unduly self-serving nor an exceptional claim, it does not involve claims about third parties, it does not involve claims about events not directly related to the source, there is no reasonable doubt as to its authenticity, and the article is not based primarily on such sources.
- So essentially, your Matthew Berdyck article makes a number of unsourced assertions and has only one sentence with a proper citation... and that one citation about poisoned grounds does not say anything about him nor anything about Berdyck having a paper route. The article depends far too heavily upon his personal website.
- ... so look for reliable sources which confirm the many sentences in the Berdyck article. If Matthew's activities get press coverage (not blogs or forums of social network sites) or win recognition or he wins awards for his filmmaking, the article on him might corrected to meet WP:BLP. See Too Soon. Best of luck, Schmidt, Michael Q. 07:42, 26 March 2014 (UTC)
It's pretty clear what is happening here. What I see is a bunch of artists who have not come close to Matt's accomplishments being permitted to judge his notability. We know all about that one in this camp. It's the content of the links that matter, here, not the sources. And no, not anyone can upload a video for Jordan Rudess from Dream Theater. You're minimizing, intentionally. You make repeated claims of trying to promote things, because you yourself have to resort to things like this for an audience, not Matthew. You may think the things you are saying are not insulting but they are.
The part I can't understand here is that all of you are pretending that you don't have the ability to read and comprehend simple sentences. The article about toxic waste is there as a citation to confirm the statements about the dump, to repeat myself. The report does mention teenage trespassers. Also, I don't buy for one second that you read ten thousands pages of EPA documentation looking for Matthew's name, since, most of it was digitized in the 90's with no indexes, and cannot be searched. Matthew's name is in those documents, as a matter of fact, and his address because his house was one of the houses that got mailers.
Interestingly, you've shown you've not read a damn word of the article or the sources. The article states that Matthew has been viciously attacked with libelous blogs, and then directly links to one of those blogs. As a matter of fact every statement in that article is already posted on the internet somewhere, not by Matthew.
To answer your question about Imdb, when one has more success they have a greater understanding of the editorial process at Imdb because eventually you get to know Imdb. They have a strict review staff who go over things not related to "big" Hollywood, and then a separate editorial staff for approving tv stuff, in which they verify credits. A simple to Imdb for clarification could resolve that question.
If you want success go out an earn it. Don't sit here and try to passive aggressively take shots at a guy who isn't even in the room. That's pretty weak. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Middleamericajames (talk • contribs) 12:27, 26 March 2014 (UTC)
- Regardless of the merits of IMDb, Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Matthew Berdyck is about a living person and contains large amounts of personal (date of birth, sexuality) and controversial (legal attacks, allegations of State mispractice) information which is not sourced (let alone reliably sourced). Your article won't make it past first base in this state. Rather than spend large amounts of time railing against Wikipedia editors, it would be a much better use of your time to look for reliable news sources about Berdyck and add them to the article. Sionk (talk) 12:58, 26 March 2014 (UTC)
When I was making the article I took the format from Andrew Tiernan, the star of 300: Rise of an Empire and narrator for Matthew's next film, which includes date of birth. As a documentary film maker and journalist, Matthew Berdyck himself, is a legitimate source. The film Poison in the Grapes, another legitimate source of investigative journalism, was directly created from public record.
The statements of state misconduct are sourced as well, and were reported on throughout the state, and are even part of Mayor Dob Plusquellic's wikipeida article. If he has been deemed as potentially corrupt by his own article and external sources how can you attempt to discredit statement, drawn from the same exact sources, to discredit Matthew's article? If the article has been improved there is plenty of time to add those citations. There are hundreds of them.
But let's REALLY look at why there isn't a news article in Akron, Ohio about Matthew. Matthew's film Poison in the Grapes, in which every single statement is confirmed the purposes of encyclopedic documentation, or for courtroom use. You cannot discredit the statements. They have all been published. Stating that they are poorly sourced statements is pure fantasy on your part. In Mr. Plusquellic's Wikipedia article, even though he is notable for nothing, the source is Bob Downing. In Poison in the Grapes Bob Downing has been (Redacted) journalist, using his own actions and statements, as documented by EPA records, and Akron Beacon Journal archives. Well, gee. If Matthew took on a local newspaper, are they going to publish something about it? This source is bumpkiss: "Downing, Bob (24 February 2012). "Israeli water company to open first U.S. office in Akron".
Outside of Akron, Ohio Don Plusquellic has done nothing, and in fact, has only reached a potential audience of 600,000 local to Summit County. Yet Matthew regularly publishes film to people nationally, with a much larger audience and numbers, and works with artists with audiences in the millions, which of course is documented in that pesky YouTube link from a Grammy Nominee you seem to not want to mention.
And in case you haven't been reading, Matthew can put things in the newspaper. We just want to be clear here. What you are saying is if Matthew picks up the phone, and has LA Weekly, and every other indie news rag publish his pre-printed words, sourced from himself, with no verification, because no one would ever actually ask him because he is a credible source, then every word is now verified by secondary sources?
I'm not going to "find" some article. I'm going to go make them. Because Matthew, is notable. That's the kinds of things notable people can do. It comes with the territory. Citing Bob Downing, though, that is priceless. Now I know everything published on this site is crap.
JamesMiddleamericajames (talk) 20:48, 26 March 2014 (UTC)
- No, if LA Weekly (which is not a great source, but an adequate one I suppose) were to republish Matthew's words, sourced only to Matthew, that would not help to establish Matthew's notability on Wikipedia at all; just as a press release does not help to establish notability if it happens to get published in a newspaper for some reason. --Demiurge1000 (talk) 21:12, 26 March 2014 (UTC)
You are incorrect. Matthew's documentary work, all sourced and cited from public records, newspaper articles, is a legitimate sourece of accurate, and court admissible information. If news editors from all over the country start citing, and quoting Matthew's words, again all backed up with proper citations, some of which are actually in the narrative in the film, they are citing a legitimate source. This means editorialized repetitions of Matthew's words would, in fact, be a legitimate source for secondary citations.
I'd also like to note that you've made the allegation on my talk page that Poison in the Grapes is "poorly sourced" even though there are hundreds of published citations, directly to articles and government archives, including the location of the federally required document respository at the Akron Public Library which includes Mr Berdyck's name. What happens here is people watch the film, come to the fan page, click on the sources, see that the information is published and public record truth.
So, let me ask the question again. So, what I have to do is sent out some e-mails to friends, ask them to help Matthew by taking twenty minutes to personally confirm the source, while including the fact in the article that they verified sources independently, then publish the articles all over the country, maybe fifty or sixty of them, then Matthew's own words become facts, and he is now notable? Consider it done.
I would also like to ask, based on this users personal attacks that they refrain from commenting on this subject matter die to personal bias. Source: my talk page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Middleamericajames (talk • contribs) 04:43, 27 March 2014 (UTC)
When I come back in a week or so I am actually going to sit down and source every sentence in Matthew's article with about five or six hundred sources. I would have done it already if you weren't so busy trolling people about notability.
Hello,
Would it be possible to get some feedback about why Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Principle Group was rejected? The feedback was that "this submission's references do not adequately evidence the subject's notability", but as far as I can tell I followed the guidelines. Perhaps I missed something simple?
Thanks, Martyn

There are independent references- including the Guardian.
Any ideas?

DO I need to include more like below:
http://www.literaryfestivals.co.uk/londonhistory.html
(C.h.books (talk) 12:12, 25 March 2014 (UTC)).
- We don't generally consider GoodReads to be an independent reliable source. That means that, although yes the Guardian article is an independent reliable source that mentions Foreman, it's the only one your submission currently has. And also, it does not say very much about Foreman. Adding a link to a website of an event run by Foreman does not get around the issue that you need to provide references to significant coverage of Foreman in multiple independent reliable sources. Arthur goes shopping (talk) 12:18, 25 March 2014 (UTC)
- Incidentally, if what's written about Foreman's work as an author is correct, it should be easy to satisfy the requirements of Wikipedia:NAUTHOR by referencing reviews of books that he has written. Arthur goes shopping (talk) 12:20, 25 March 2014 (UTC)

- In general, Wikipedia needs significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject. (Follow the link for more on what that means.) One award is usually not enough to count (and the article doesn't even say what award it is).
- I also suggest that you should go through the editing tutorial to learn how to format and cite sources. Anon126 (talk - contribs) 21:30, 25 March 2014 (UTC)
Help with notability
Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/United States Agricultural Information Network (USAIN)
I need help regarding "This submission's references do not adequately evidence the subject's notability" I thought I followed the guidelines regarding "significant coverage in reliable, independent sources", but I am clearly off the mark. I reside in the world of science and academia where scholarly books and peer reviewed journals are the ultimate independent and reliable sources. But perhaps 10 references are not enough? For Wikipedia, are "popular" sources of information preferable- even if less reliable? (newspapers, magazines, etc.)
Regarding: "Please improve the submission's referencing, so that the information is verifiable, and there is clear evidence of why the subject is notable and worthy of inclusion in an encyclopedia." Does this refer to the fact that these journals and books are not open access and that only subscribers can view their content? (though there may be some open access in the list, I'm not sure), If I were to include doi's and URL's through my own institution that are still only accessible if one has a subscription, would this "improve the referencing"?
What you can do: Add citations (see Wikipedia:Referencing for beginners) to secondary reliable sources that are entirely independent of the subject. - How many more? I was hoping the article would go up and others could add without me having to do all the research. Based on other submissions, I thought that 10 was more than enough - or is the issue more with the lack of "popular sources"? They are peer reviewed journal and scholarly books, so entirely independent and reliable.
It is disheartening to be rejected so I'd like to get the last attempt right or know when to stop trying.
Thanks in Advance.

NatDezo (talk) 18:29, 25 March 2014 (UTC)
- I accepted it, and moved it to United States Agricultural Information Network. There is a redirect from your original title, and also from USAIN. I think it sufficiently shows importance under the GNG, but of course anyone who thinks otherwise can challenge it. (The informal standard for acceptance if a reasonable likelihood of passing AfD -- often interpreted as 50%, and it certainly is that.) It needed major rewriting, because a good deal of it was copyvio from their website. Normally, that would be sufficient reason not just for declining the AfC , but for immediate deletion--the earlier reviewers should have spotted it, because the tone was so exactly that of a organizational website, full of wordiness and official language. The only reason I didn't do the deletion as an administrator was because I have a special interest in libraries, recognized the organization as important, and decided I was willing to do the work and take the responsibility. This is not something that any contributor can count on: we expect contributors to do their own writing and as a minimum read our rule that material must be original, not copied from elsewhere. I've usually done one or two such rewrites a week, but nobody has the obligation to do that for you. I also made a number of necessary formatting improvement: They are no reason to decline an article, since all articles are subject to improvement, but it does affect the way people look at it, DGG ( talk ) 03:21, 26 March 2014 (UTC)

1) Categories--how do I get them into a box, or do you do that when reviewing? 2) Do I need to delete the previous comments before resubmitting? 3) I want to include two photographs of Roberts' paintings, but after reading the page on copyright issues and importing, I still haven't a clue how to proceed. What do I do? 4) I have an internal link to an article on Kafi Benz that references my subject. Do I need to link to the paragraph within the article and if so, how do I do that? 5) I have an "External References" section with only one article. Should I include more on painting technique?
I would appreciate your assistance yet again. Thank you! Evelyn4414 (talk) 20:20, 25 March 2014 (UTC) Evelyn 4414
- They will be placed in the category box if the article draft is accepted.
- No. As a matter of fact, you should keep all the old comments, so that reviewers can see what progress has been made.
- The paintings are most likely still under copyright, so by policy they cannot be added until the draft is accepted.
- Generally, it is not necessary to link to the specific section, but if you wish, the code is [[Article name#Section tit:le]], or, in this case, [[Kafi Benz#Fine arts activities]]
- If you have only a few general references, you can include them in the same section as
{{reflist}}

Hello, I'm failing a bit at this whole creating a new article for the Be. Accessible (title of the article) Movement in New Zealand. I wondered if it would be more likely to be approved if it were submitted as a "stub" instead? I've checked another New Zealand disability sector service provider (Blind Foundation NZ) and that seems to be how theirs works.
Thanks, Ambrosia.recordsAmbrosia.records (talk) 21:18, 25 March 2014 (UTC)
- Hello Ambrosia.records. Whether it's a stub or not makes no difference to it meeting the criteria for inclusion, although trimming an article of any kind of PR-speak and "Mission statement" material is always a good thing. The problem is that all the references so far are to the initiative's parent institute, the initiative's website, press release-based material, or the head of the parent institute talking about it. This initiative is quite new (2011), and thus coverage beyond the types of sources you've used is going to be hard to find in the short term. I had a look at the Blind Foundation (New Zealand) article you mentioned. It was very poorly sourced, but I was able to rectify that quite easily. Its importance and a history which dates back to 1890 can be found in multiple independent sources, including a lengthy write-up in The Lighthouse Handbook on Vision Impairment and Vision Rehabilitation (Oxford University Press). THE OTTER AFRICAN TRAIL RUN ARTICLE MARKED FOR DELETION
Hi there,
Please could you assist me with my article. My article The otter trail run has been tagged deletion, because the article doesn't clearly say why the subject is important enough to be included in an encyclopedia.
Not sure where or how to make my statement on why it should be important to be included.
Please could you let me know where I should do this.
Kind Regards Gail — Preceding unsigned comment added by Windstorme (talk • contribs) 13:54, 26 March 2014 (UTC)
- Hello Windstorme. The contents of the now deleted article The otter trail run appear to have been the same as the draft in User:Windstorme/sandbox, which was declined today. The problem is that you have simply reproduced the material from the event's website and have provided no independent reliable published sources that have covered this event in depth. In fact, you have provided no sources at all. Thus, there is no evidence that it meets the criteria for inclusion in Wikipedia. Wikipedia:Notability explains in detail what these are, and Wikipedia:Verifiability explains why these types of sources are required. I also suggest you re-write the article completely, making it much shorter and more encyclopedic. It shouldn't be a brochure for the event and its participants. Wikipedia does not host material like that, and you have to remove the rather extensive "peacock wording" which violates Wikipedia's policy on neutral point of view. See Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Words to watch for guidance on how to word an article neutrally. Voceditenore (talk) 14:31, 26 March 2014 (UTC)
- I Googled "Otter Trail Run" and found many good sources - magazine articles, news reports, etc. Rewriting it using these types of sources is not too difficult. You must however keep the marketing-speak out of the article. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 14:50, 26 March 2014 (UTC)
- Yes, examples of the kinds of sources you could use to improve your draft: [5] in Sport24, [6] in Go!, [7] in Runner's World. Voceditenore (talk) 15:00, 26 March 2014 (UTC)

Is there any way you could give me more specific details on the problems with the article I am submitting. The reviewer said that I need to sight verifiable and reliable sources. the vast majority of my article is referenced from three notable published books about Mr. Livesey's profession: The International Who's Who in Popular Music, The Encyclopaedia of Record Producers and The 100 Best Australia Albums. is the problem that these sources are not recognized as reliable or is there specific parts of my article that are problematic, or something else? I would really like to understand this very interesting process.

How do I find and include a list of existing data that gets updated elsewhere. For example, I saw the following on a number of wikipages:
1. Where do I find a list of similar pages/templates... that I might want to insert into a page?
2. What does {{ }} mean?
3. At the moment, I want to use these type of lists to update or improve two wikipedia pages.
- Bulleted list item
One is "Yokneam" in English. I saw the the Hebrew version gathers data automatically from a BOT ( Template:בוט יישובים/0240 ), which I assume is from an official source. I would like to add the equivalent source.
- Bulleted list item
The other is "Startup Village - Yokneam", which is a page that I recently resubmitted after making changes to meet wikipedia standards. I would like to add existing information on things like startup ecosystems in Israel or worldwide.
4. I noticed that the Israel NASDAQ list is not complete. For example, I checked the site of an Israeli company (Lumenis) that I thought was on NASDAQ, but did not appear in the list. According to the Lumenis website, it is listed on NASDAQ as LMNS. Should I update Template:Israel NASDAQ when I find similar examples? Should I notify someone else (if yes, who?)? In the light of my discussion with the last reviewer—see here, and previous discussions on this subject—see here and here, what is the actual problem with this submission—Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Randy Gage, what (specifically) should be addressed before I resubmit it? —JOHNMOORofMOORLAND (talk) 16:44, 26 March 2014 (UTC)
Hello,
I am writing an article for a photographer, filmmaker, director and actor Steven Lyon. I have some online references but also a lot of magazine print references and PDF files from old articles that are not on the internet. I am not sure exactly how to reference these. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Chloe.pecorino (talk • contribs) 17:01, 26 March 2014 (UTC)
Hello,
I have created an article about Aruhat - a company name why it is declined. There are other articles named by the company names - so why mine is rejected.
Aruhat (talk) 18:27, 26 March 2014 (UTC)
- Hello Aruhat, the declined draft is at User:Aruhat/sandbox. At the time, it was because you had submitted a blank page for review. However, before proceeding further with the draft, I suggest you read Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations and Wikipedia:Notability (organizations and companies). - Voceditenore talk) 18:55, 26 March 2014 (UTC)
Please advise me of the status of this submitted page.I feel I have addressed all of the reviewer's concerns but if there are still issues I would appreciate hearing them.
Cheers,
Alan
PS: here is my response to the comments of initial reviewer Aggie80:
Dear Sir/Madam: Thank you for considering our recent application for a Wikipedia page for Mr. Charlie Mayrs of West Vancouver, British Columbia. As you may have guessed, it was our first time attempting to establish such a page, and despite reading your helpful instructions beforehand, it appears we unfortunately fell a bit short of satisfying your requirements regarding proof of Mayrs’s credentials.
Although much of it is in printed form and predates the much easier internet forms of referencing, we have outlined below the considerable evidence we have subsequently assembled to confirm Mr.Mayrs’s accomplishments and standing within the community. We would greatly appreciate it if you would advise us as to how we may best employ it to satisfy your needs.
Thank you in advance for your time and consideration.
Best regards, Alan Davidson (acting on behalf of Mr.Mayrs)
Advertising & Public Relations Mr.Mayrs was a successful and leading member of the Vancouver & West Coast advertising community for many decades, and as such was a “go-to” person for journalists hoping to understand and explain industry trends. As proof of this high-profile aspect of Mr. Mayrs’s career, we can supply scans of original NSP articles and references (Vancouver Sun, Vancouver Province, North Shore News) and magazines such as Marketing, Equity, Business in Vancouver and Strategy) — all with articles on/quotations from CM. If desired, we can also supply samples of Mr.Mayrs award-winning creative advertising design work from his days at Dome Advertising and FCB.
Painting/Fine Art Mr.Mayrs is a prolific and accomplished painter, and over the years has had many exhibitions on the West Coast as well as in Hawaii, where he has a second home. On this front, we are happy to supply scanned proof of original articles in magazines such as “Arts Alive”, Air Canada “Enroute”, a CM biographical listing in the reference book “Artists of British Columbia” as well as scanned proof of CM exhibitions in Vancouver (Vancouver Art Gallery) and West Coast galleries such as Woodworks, Diane Farris Gallery and Seymour Art Gallery (“Preview of the Visual Arts” and “Boulevard” arts magazines,“Plus” magazine, Vancouver Sun newspaper, North Shore News, The Moncton News, Vancouver Art Gallery catalogue). There is also proof of an 2000 exhibition on the Hawaiian island of Maui. (”Maui Art” magazine). Of course, if desired, we can also provide scanned samples of Mr. Mayrs’s paintings.
Limited Edition Books (Design, Photography, Illustration) Mr.Mayrs has conceived and published a significant number of limited edition books about the people and landscape of Canada and British Columbia. He writes and designs each one, augmenting his unique poetry and prose with his own photography, painted imagery, and graphic illustrations. They are subsequently printed using the laborious but beautiful letterpress technique, often with hand-crafted covers and special handmade papers. Copies currently reside in the reference libraries of educational institutions across Canada such as the University of British Columbia. We can supply high resolution scans of the books themselves (or you may visit www.charlesmayrs.com to view them in their entirety), first place awards from the likes of the Alcuin Society of Canada, and feature articles in the society’s magazine “Amphora” as well as a references to jury selection in the Biennial International Miniature Print Exhibition. There are also a reference available to an earlier CM award for graphic design and personal profile in “Typography 60”, of which we have scans.
Editorial Cartoon Illustration For a number of years, Mr.Mayrs created political and social commentary cartoons for the editorial pages of the North Shore Outlook newspaper. He called them “Glimmericks”, and we are happy to supply multiple scans of these pages featuring his work as well as Letters to the Editor pages in which readers bemoan his eventual retirement from that job.
Finally, Mr. Mayrs biography may be found in two editions of the Canadian “Who's Who” reference book. (1988 & 2010). If desired, we are happy to supply high rez scans of same for your consideration. Can you please advise as to how best to proceed? Thanks! CMayrs 23:30, 26 March 2014 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Wikicharlie1992 (talk • contribs)

How can I tell if my submission went through? Can I find it under my account? Allershf1 (talk) 02:43, 27 March 2014 (UTC)
I have been unsuccessful in establishing notability for the celebrity photographer Michael Grecco in my article submissions. I added this reference http://www.photoworkshop.com/artman/publish/michael_grecco.shtml from an independent and verifiable source that covers Michael's career and accomplishments, in addition to references to verify the number of celebrities that have been his subjects, along with magazines he's done work for and awards he's won, but yet it has been deemed inadequate. Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. RonEwer 02:47, 27 March 2014 (UTC)
If you happen to be connected to Mr Grecco, please tell him I LOVE his work.

Clarification for YouTube link policy.
In trying to get an article to be approved I have learned that Wikipedia judges anything that is posted on YouTube is "poorly sourced." I am wondering where I can post to ask for clarification for this ineffective, and narrow minded, policy. I want to know how one can get information that is correctly source, and released on YouTube, considered for an article.
The piece of film I presented as the source is sourced from public records, news articles, Center for Disease control data, and other historical documents. From the date of release, until today, not one human being has been able to discredit this particular film. It's not "poorly sourced." In fact, the hundreds of sources for the film, the links to the sources, are published on the films Facebook fan page.
My questions:
How does one source legitimately sourced information that just so happened to be posted on YouTube?
How do I source public records, and newspaper articles that are part of a closed archive system? Say, an article form 1987 that has been scanned and uploaded to non-publicly accessible database. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Middleamericajames (talk • contribs) 03:47, 27 March 2014 (UTC)
