It's not a good idea to add random comments like "hi!" to articles though. While they don't really hurt anything, one of the other contributors has to remove it which is slightly inconvenient. If you want to test the editing system out, you can do that easily either on your userpage or at the sandbox. Also try to avoid inserting fan rumours, since here on Wikipedia we try to only report verifiable information.
