| Forest shrew range | |
Myosorex varius, the forest shrew, is a species of shrew in the Soricidae (mouse shrews) family. It is found in Lesotho, South Africa, and Swaziland.[1] Its natural habitats include temperate forests, dry savanna, Mediterranean-type shrubby vegetation, and temperate grassland.[1] The term "forest shrews" in the plural is sometimes confusingly used to collectively refer to a different genus, Sylvisorex.
The forest shrew is a predator of the slugs Ariostralis nebulosa and Ariopelta capensis.[2]
Parasites of the forest shrew include the brachylaimid trematode Renylaima capensis.[2]
