Mr. Carpainter (カーペイターさん, Carpainter-san) is the evil cult leader of Happy Happy Village in the Super Nintendo Entertainment System video game EarthBound.[1]
Starting out as a normal man, he has become possessed.[2] Carpainter is responsible for the painting the entire town blue and kidnapping Paula (from Twoson), who becomes Ness' girlfriend in the game.[1] Carpainter established the cult after being impressed by the Evil Mani Mani statue.[3] Using thunder attacks, his weakness is the Franklin Badge which can deflect all forms of lightning.[3]
After being defeated, he abolishes his religion and returns to local obscurity.[1] The evil Mani Mani Statue is handed over to Master Belch and eventually to Geldegarde Monotoli before being destroyed permanently in Moonside; an alternate world made out of parts of Fourside.
