Can we get some images up? Any original reporters or photographers in the NYC area? --JulesMattsson (talk) 17:18, 30 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

I'm trying to get some press releases, when i can i will try to get some images. But I live downtown, it might take a little while. Cocoaguy (talk) 17:42, 30 December 2009 (UTC)Reply
Okay we might have a photog on route now, will update. --JulesMattsson (talk) 17:53, 30 December 2009 (UTC)Reply
I'm on a bus now, ETA 15min
To clarify, that was Cocoaguy, who has no tilde key. He's en route to the scene. --JulesMattsson (talk) 18:16, 30 December 2009 (UTC)Reply
Have pic's uploading now Cocoaguy (talk) 18:48, 30 December 2009 (UTC)Reply
File:DSC02265.JPG for now use DSC02265.JPG Cocoaguy (talk) 18:55, 30 December 2009 (UTC)Reply
They're not linking?--JulesMattsson (talk) 18:56, 30 December 2009 (UTC)Reply
'No file by this name exists' Not yet anyway, when they're online, put them into the article and/or join the IRC asap. --JulesMattsson (talk) 18:57, 30 December 2009 (UTC)Reply
Sorry, the inet cafe i was useing had a bad connection, 160px Cocoaguy (talk) 19:25, 30 December 2009 (UTC)Reply
Thanks, is that definately 'the van'? Anything from the cops on scene we should know? --JulesMattsson (talk) 19:26, 30 December 2009 (UTC)Reply
The only thing the cops on the scene had to say was that there was no bomb. They also said that the van would be towed some time this afternoon. Cocoaguy (talk) 19:51, 30 December 2009 (UTC)Reply
Just to note, I had to delete one of the images uploaded to the article - it was taken from CBS news, taking images from competing news agencies is not allowed per WN:FU. Since we have a reporter on the scene though, we should get some other images. Tempodivalse [talk] 19:30, 30 December 2009 (UTC)Reply
  • Yeah, I restored it because I was misinformed in IRC; tagged for speedy now. Always take out of articles and leads prior to deletion. I believed Flagged Revisions will not stop redlinks appearing in place of deleted images. --Brian McNeil / talk 19:40, 30 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

Notes

[edit]

I have telephoned the NYPD's information bureau {+1-(646)-616-6700} and they have no comment at 12:30p 12/30. Cocoaguy (talk) 17:45, 30 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

Update:The van contained little more than clothing or something, it was pretty full of stuff. Conformation, Nasdaq building was evacuated Cocoaguy (talk) 19:35, 30 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

In the photo that roll of fabric looks like a rip-off of the Burberry pattern. Source: my girlfriend loves that stuff. Probably some sort of counterfeiting scheme --74.192.15.233 (talk) 09:34, 2 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

  • Techie question; if we can track down free web cams that look over targets like Times Square what would it take to have a running cache of 1-2 hours data from each cam? Would this kill the toolserver? --Brian McNeil / talk 19:43, 30 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

Update?

[edit]

Anyone want to update this article considering "NYPD: No Bomb Inside Abandoned Van with Tarp Covering Windows; Street Reopened" and "Times Square Security Scare Over" headlines from CBS (http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2009/12/30/national/main6037921.shtml) and our on scene reporter's account from speaking to the cops. --JulesMattsson (talk) 20:16, 30 December 2009 (UTC)Reply
