[1], [2] persistently removing the same content. Warned [3], [4] about the sock puppet policy but continues to edit disruptively, see[5] for one of several typical comments. As an aside the edit he proposes is out of date as the FAC was cleared. Wee Curry Monster talk 12:08, 15 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Addendum. After reviewing the talk page, I found User:Jacob805 doing pretty much the same thing and the similarities in the writing style, spelling and grammar mistakes are striking. It looks like probably this is a sock as well. Wee Curry Monster talk 13:11, 15 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Generalmesse is a prolific sockpuppeteer who has repeatedly returned to wikipedia disrupting military history articles. Generally creates a large number of sockpuppets that are used sacrificially one by one some time after they're created. User:Noclador and I have been finding these for some time now, so we tend to spot the same pattern of editing.

Typically uses WP:SPS to introduce contentious edits, rarely uses a reliable source. Doesn't respond to talk page discussions, ignores warnings on his user talk page and repeatedly re-introduces contentious material. A common ploy is to introduce a contentious edit, following by a minor edit so the contentious edit never appears on a watch list eg [6] followed by [7]. What tipped me of this time was the use of this website [8] to cite a contentious edit on Friendly fire, this WP:SPS website has been used by Generalmesse before and includes the same fringe material he has constantly pushed regarding Italy in WW2.

On past performance I would imagine there are more sock puppets to emerge. Note Paulioetc19 is already confirmed as a sock puppet of Paulioetc. See Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Paulioetc Wee Curry Monster talk 13:40, 4 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Paulioetc is in danger of breaching 3RR for edit warring to repeatedly add the same erroneous information to Friendly fire. [9] IP 67.164.105.159 has re-added the same erroneous information. Paulioetc is aware this information is incorrect after asking an expert on the topic User talk:Reedmalloy#hey reedl. IP has also edited the same articles, where contentious and erroneous edits of Paulioetc have been removed eg List of post-1945 U.S. friendly-fire incidents with British victims. I rather suspect given the pattern of editing and the use of sources such as [[10]] that this is the latest incarnation of User:Generalmesse a prolific sockpuppeteer who has plagued military history articles for years. Continuing to add the same erroneous information on multiple articles [11] corrected by User:Nick Cooper [12] and re-added [13]. Paulioetc has repeatedly edit warred to force the comment based on an old newspaper report that the British FAC faced charges into the Friendly fire article [14], despite the fact subsequent reports show he was cleared and never faced such changes. Paulioetc has been plaguing the Friendly fire article with disruptive edits. Usually uses WP:SPS to source his edits. After further disruptive edits and sock puppets was blocked indefinitely today. [16] Adds the same erroneous information that appears to be an obsession of Paulioetc (you need to scroll down to the incident of August 23, 2007) - this is potentially a WP:BLP issue as it incorrectly asserts the FAC faced manslaughter charges when all involved were exonerated without any charges whatsoever. The IP address is a known Paulio sock, that he has been using prolifically to add unsourced material to the Friendly fire article and to add the same erroneous information [17] to McDonnell Douglas F-15E Strike Eagle. By now he knows adding incorrect material that is a potential WP:BLP violation is completely unacceptable. Based on comment from User:Bilcat I've added User:Jacob805. This was previously a suspected sockpuppet of Paulioetc but checkuser was not appropriate due to staleness. Apparently editing again withe the same pattern of problematic edits on Queen Elizabeth class aircraft carrier. Does it need a fresh SPI report? Wee Curry Monster talk 19:17, 9 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Both IP addresses are already known socks of Paulioetc. Both used to edit the talk page to add the same argumentative complainst about reverts of dubious content and pretending to be a different person. [18] and [19]. Guy includes some legitimate information but all is unsourced and a lot is very dubious. Also obsessed with adding a WP:BLP violation based on an erroneous newspaper report see Talk:Friendly fire#23 August 2007 (please note the date and he added back the same info this week, after serving a one month block). This sock puppeteer is very active and makes a ton of work for those cleaning up after him. Wee Curry Monster talk 19:44, 10 May 2011 (UTC) Wee Curry Monster talk 19:44, 10 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Am I seriously involved in this? Unlike Paulio, any sockpuppet of mine would at least be able to spell and punctuate properly. Mdw0 (talk) 01:15, 11 May 2011 (UTC) [reply]
No involvement by Mdw0 on this report, cleared by checkuser in a previous report. Wee Curry Monster talk 07:55, 11 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
You re-added material that is incorrect based on the same source the sock puppet used and that is a potentially a WP:BLP violation. I would have presumed an experienced editor is well aware of the problems with WP:BLP. Regards. Wee Curry Monster talk 07:53, 11 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Actually I was reverting a line that said actions were accidental, which was contrary to the source, and I mentioned that in the notes. It was careless of me to revert the other bit as well without investigation. However, it was equally careless of you to infer that such a reversion meant I was some other user's sock puppet based on a single event without even bothering to ask me about it first. I'm an experienced enough editor to judge that one line mentioning the actions of 'an Australian pilot' is hardly a biography. Very little BLP rules apply here.Mdw0 (talk) 02:29, 12 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Checkuser note: Personally, I'm not seeing it: 6 edits, 4 to article space, 3 to the same article Paulioetc targeted...it may be that I can be convinced, but I'm not yet. No prejudice against another CU checking...I'm not rejecting this request, just asking to be convinced it's reasonable.  Frank  |  talk  12:58, 2 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  •   Administrator note I've blocked the IP for a week based on behavioral evidence. Compare this edit by an IP I blocked a few weeks ago to this one by the new IP. Note the move of the Six Day War section, and also the edits in the Sgt Stevens section ("Iraqi protester was also killed in that same incident"). There are some other similarities, but I'd rather not voice them right now. (You can email me if you want, though.) — HelloAnnyong (say whaaat?!) 13:12, 2 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I've just blocked this account per this comment by them (note that they'd never edited this article before). This is consistent with the conduct of other socks of Paulioetc. I agree that CU would be useful to detect any other socks. Nick-D (talk) 10:55, 3 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Newly registered account. Heads straight to Civilian casualties caused by ISAF and US Forces in the War in Afghanistan (2001–present) and repeats editing in the same style as User:Paulioetc eg [20] and [21]. His usual style is to start with what appear to be legitimate edits and then gradually introduce wikifiddling that is a PITA to clean up. On past performance likely to be other sleeper accounts. Seems like whack a mole with this guy, as soon as you shut one sock down another pops up. IP from the same range and geo location as other Paulio socks. Same pattern of editing on Civilian casualties caused by ISAF and US Forces in the War in Afghanistan (2001–present) and other articles and apparent wikifiddling by changing dates see [22]. Per WP:DUCK obvious block evasion by a persistent and prolific sock puppeteer. Wee Curry Monster talk 10:23, 15 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

User:Generalmesse was a prolific sock puppeteer obsessed with using wikipedia to redeem the fighting repuation of Italy in WW2. [23] Newly registered user turned up at Military history of Italy during World War II to reinsert one of his edits. Has been doing so periodically since 2006. Wee Curry Monster talk 08:12, 23 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I think I can explain that, we made the connection to Generalmesse through one of Paulioetc's socks as he was using similar sources such as Radio Berlin for his edits. See Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Paulioetc/Archive#04 March 2011. On past performance likely to be a number of sleeper accounts ready to roll. Its the guys style, with a new sock he edits on unrelated topics before heading back to familiar ground. That way he builds a reputation as a "productive editor". I'm away on business with infrequent net access but User:Noclador is very familiar with the case. Wee Curry Monster talk 11:27, 24 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • Endorsed - please check for sleepers and open proxies to block accordingly as Paulio and his various incarnation has been socking very frequently in Italian military history related article pages, pushing his skewed view with insertion of his WP:SYN and generally causing nuisance to the regular editors there. --Dave ♠♣♥♦™№1185©♪♫® 09:31, 23 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • As I am sadly familiar with the POV+socking campaign by Paulioetc let me chip in with a few thoughts:
First the use of Comando Supremo is strong hint that this is a sock - Comando Supremo only with its recent redesign removed a photo of Mussolini from all their pages! Then the article by David Aldea is a really bad source, because it uses - as Paulio etc. did - the New York Times articles, which reported on the propaganda sent out by Radio Berlin and Radio Rome... while the NYT clearly says this is enemy propaganda Aldea, Paulio and co. take the Radio Berlin/ Radio Rome communiques as authoritative sources for Italian bravery... (RadioBerlin was also the name of a sock of Paulio!)
the other author of the "source" given is Joseph Peluso "He is also a military history buff fascinated with the role of the 25th “Bologna” Motorised Division in North Africa. He is currently writing a book about his father, Carmine Peluso who served in the 40th “Bologna” Infantry Regiment as an NCO and was decorated."... and this is followed by a comment by the user "Peppe Peluso": "Hello David Really a wonderful article. Ciao. Peppe" Peppe is the Italian nickname for Joseph...
Comando Supremo is as a source maybe acceptable to Secolo d'Italia, but not to anyone with an unbiased view of history.
back to the socking: also the socks in the Category:Wikipedia sockpuppets of Generalmesse belong to this circus and if you want another fresh sock: user:TOATR is one. No new user knows the ref stuff as well as GuntherMoss [24]. Please check for sleepers too!
conclusion: There is a concentrated effort by people coming over from Comando Supremo rewrite Italian Military history as glorious... citing their own webpage as source! Therefore constant sock returns are a common sight at the Italian Military articles. noclador (talk) 07:00, 25 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  •   Clerk note: Dave, I'm not sure what you thought you were endorsing (non-clerks don't endorse, BTW), but all the data on the master and his socks has gone stale. I don't really see any recent frequent socking; the last case was for Gloryhog99, who was blocked more than three months ago. Further, I can't find evidence that Paulioetc included text in that article like in the diff, so can you clarify/expand on the evidence? — HelloAnnyong (say whaaat?!) 14:29, 23 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
