Messhermit

edit
  • Code letter: B

This case was refered here from Wikipedia:Suspected sock puppets/Messhermit.

Messhermit is banned from editing Alberto Fujimori.[1][2] However, I believe that he is editing the article as 65.2.103.216, 147.70.124.59, 74.225.187.18 74.225.227.204, 147.70.153.117, and 68.215.109.135. The following are my reasons to believe this:

If 65.2.103.216, 147.70.124.59, 74.225.187.18, 74.225.227.204, 147.70.153.117 and Messhermit are not the same editor, than I deeply apologize to all of them. I feel somewhat embarrassed to be the one to make such a serious accusation, but it seems to me that a wikipedian banned from editing Alberto Fujimori may be doing so.

I also ask that a decision be made on 147.70.124.109, even though he has not edited in about a month. This user, who has injected the same pro-Fujimori POV into other articles, edited Paquisha War. Messhermit is banned from editing any articles dealing with wars between Ecuador and Peru (See Wikipedia:Requests for arbitration/Messhermit), and it is thus important to know if 147.70.124.109 and Messhermit are the same person. --Descendall 19:35, 24 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Messhermit

edit
  • There is a strong probability that Messhermit may be involved in the recent vandal attacks on the article Ecuadorian-Peruvian war. While most of the recent attacks have come from open proxies in Lima (see this request for investigation), the first ones came from IP addresses in Miami (which is where Messhermit apparently resides). Messhermit is banned from editing any article on the history of the Ecuadorian-Peruvian dispute for one year (see Wikipedia:Requests for arbitration/Messhermit), and it looks an attempt at gaming the system, with the help of one or more friends from Lima.
  • The fact that Messhermit came out fast to report an "edit war" between the IP users and me, (see [29]), and the wording used when he asked for a full protection of the article (see [30]), which was denied, as well as the modus operandi of the IP vandals only reinforce the suspicion that Messhermit is involved in this issue and has recruited the help of others, apparently editors of the Spanish Wikipedia.
