Foundation Day is a completely made-up name that Mr Taz has invented, and not provided a single source to support. For more information see Talk:British Day. Suggest deleting this redirect. O Fenian (talk) 19:59, 8 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

See comment below. This is not just nonsense but seems part of an ongoing "crusade"... Enaidmawr (talk) 21:00, 8 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

What is more, this is at least the second time he has done this (i.e created these redirects). He uses these and similar redirects to give readers the impression that this and other invented days (e.g. the now deleted series "English Day", "Cornish Day", "Welsh Day" and "Scottish Day", redirects to 'Culture of England'/etc) actually exist and then inserts them in articles like National Day (see here). This is at best plain silly and at worst deliberately misleading. Another thing, he can't do so at the moment as the page has been locked, but the last 'Foundation Day (United Kingdom)' redirect was then used not only to take you to British Day from Foundation Day but also placed as a piped link in the British Day article: higly misleading and totally unacceptable. Something should be done about this and scores of similar edits by Mr Taz (I had about 70 of them speedily deleted a few weeks back). Enaidmawr (talk) 20:59, 8 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • Jeez, was all this really necessary? Just because the redirect doesn't work doesn't mean the page is non-functional: it gets the editor to where they want to be. Convert all to {{softredirect}} and urge against these spurious nominations in the future (they are entirely helpful redirects). –xeno talk 14:44, 8 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
    • There are many other such redirects that have not been listed here. I created some of these several years ago (but only one of those listed above) for two reasons:
  1. I would sometimes forget to search for a special page in the Special: namespace and instead search in Wikipedia:.
  2. Many special pages gave no indication of a talk page where one could discuss them. The Wikipedia: redirect pages provided convenient corresponding talk pages.

Redirect from subsidiary company to parent company article. I get repeated complaints from new users that there is nothing on the target page about Primelocation. And they're right. There's nothing worth mentioning - all previous versions of this redirect were deleted under CSD A7, and the Trust being such a large company, no doubt has too many similarly non-notable subsidiaries. Even the section this redirect used to point to has been removed. Thus we won't be able to have info on Primelocation at the target page, and this redirect should be deleted as it only serves to confuse the reader. Kimchi.sg (talk) 08:37, 8 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Another redirect to a special page. Precedent seems to indicate that these should be deleted, as none of them work due to technical restraints (i.e., typing in the shortcut dumps you at the actual redirect page instead of the target). I've been RFDing these because redirects to special pages just plain don't work (i.e., if you type in the shortcut, it dumps you on the shortcut page instead of actually redirecting). Precedent seems to be that we should get rid of redirects to special pages because of their broken nature. Ten Pound Hammer and his otters • (Many ottersOne hammerHELP) 04:17, 8 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
How about this page? User:-Zeus-/Sandbox/1? it all depends on your definition of 'works'. It does provide a link to the special page. What if I hardcoded a link? what's the difference? I understand removing the WP: redirects, but I don't see what business you have coming to my userpage. Is there a policy on this? -Zeus-u|c 04:20, 8 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I've {{db-user}}'ed the redirect. I created it a long time ago when I migrated from manually maintained talk archives to the standard form. I had long forgotten about it, and never use it. • But, looking at other discussion on this page, I have to say: I don't see the point of combing through user pages looking for redirects to special pages. It seems like pointless busy work to me. They're not hurting anything. Some people obviously find them useful. What's the benefit to this? —DragonHawk (talk|hist) 12:56, 8 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Not all of them are out of userpages. I just don't see a purpose in them if they're b0rked. Ten Pound Hammer and his otters • (Many ottersOne hammerHELP) 13:12, 8 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
