- I could simply replace the photograph with an image used originally in 1866. (from http://hrcak.srce.hr/file/110727 , EGGER) The current image is seemingly from 1976. Is that ok? Er-vet-en (say) 09:55, 15 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- If the older image was published in 1866, that image can be used. I can't read the text in the link, so I can't check whether the image is OK. --Stefan2 (talk) 12:41, 15 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

- I would assume that "EGGER 1866" means that it was published in 1866. In that case, the other image can be used, but this one is still unfree. --Stefan2 (talk) 00:04, 21 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

- Is this really 100% own work and not based on some previous map? Stefan2 (talk) 01:28, 15 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Question is moot. Please remove this file from the Wikipedia database.
However, discussion of Imboden_movement2 applies to Imboden_movement. (see below) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Donaldecoho (talk • contribs)

- Is this really 100% own work and not based on some previous map? Stefan2 (talk) 01:28, 15 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Of course it's based on some previous map, a free Wikipedia file: File:Juniatamap.png
File:Imboden_movement2.png
As I've added to Stefan2's talk page, the underlying map of the Juniata River watershed is by Karl Musser. He permits adaptation and requests attribution as I have added to the caption at Colonel Jacob C. Higgins. To his original work I have added the cities of Gettysburg, Chambersburg, Mercersberg, McConnelsburg, Cumberland MD, Hanover MD, Bloody Run (Everett), the movement arrows for Imboden's cavalry, the position of Milroy at Bloody Run (blue circle), and the orange dots for Higgins' makeshift forts. I have also added the 'conflict' explosions around McConnelsburg and Gettysburg. All of this was done with MSWord shapes and text boxes.
Issues related to unclear attribution to Karl Musser have been clarified at File:Imboden movement2.png. Additionally, the topic this file addresses is sufficiently esoteric that the probability of someone further adapting Imboden_movement2.png is virtually 0. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Donaldecoho (talk • contribs)
- I see. So the map was really unfree (no attribution and wrong licence). However, since it is free now (your changes were listed as CC-Zero before you added the attribution which is compatible with the original CC-BY-SA 2.5), I have moved it over to Commons. --Stefan2 (talk) 00:23, 16 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

- Not properly sourced: the page doesn't confirm that the photographer is anonymous and there is no date of publication, so there is no way to confirm that it is out of copyright in the European Union. Furthermore, the {{PD-EU-no author disclosure}} template tells nothing about the copyright status in the United States. Stefan2 (talk) 15:13, 15 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Stefan2 (talk) 15:35, 15 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

- There is no explanation as to why this would be out of copyright in the source country on the URAA date. This photo appears to have been taken during some trials after WWII, so I can't see how it can be out of copyright in the European Union. Stefan2 (talk) 15:41, 15 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

- Also, I tried to add notices on the image page and the uploader's talk page but they don't seem to be rendering correctly. As far as I can tell I followed the instructions on WP:PUF, so I'm a little confused. Could someone fix the pages or tell me how to do so? Thanks. - That's a difficult one. If it's being used to illustrate the console, perhaps the design can be treated as de minimis. Certainly use to illustrate the character would be infringing. --He to Hecuba (talk) 19:03, 15 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- While PUF isn't really for discussing the nuances of NFCC (that would be NFCR or FFD), I agree that de minimis may apply if being used to illustrate the console - but it's worth noting that the image is only being used on two userpages. Acather96 (talk) 19:11, 15 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I, Mr. Sinistar, took this picture and I have licensed it under the Creative Commons Attribution ShareAlike 3.0 license.
- Quite clear: the licence is CC-BY-SA 3.0. But:
Here is the link to the license: http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/3.0/
- So is CC-BY-SA 3.0 sourced to the CC-BY-NC-SA 3.0 licence or is it licensed under both of them? Further down, it says {{cc-by-sa-2.5}}. One could interpret this to mean that it is licensed under all three mentioned licences... --Stefan2 (talk) 00:48, 16 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

- Cars are usually considered utilitarian objects and thus only separable elements (flames painted on the side, for instance) can be copyrighted. I don't believe the fact that these are scale models negates that. This argument applies equally to other files you nommed except those with product packaging in the photo.
