Municipalities of Colima

I brought this page from a stub to what I think is featured list quality using some of the templates I made for other list of municipalities in both the USA (ex:List of cities and towns in Montana) and Canada (ex:List of municipalities in Nunavut). It seems Mexican geography articles are under represented on here, so I thought I'd give this one a try. Why isn't "List of municipalities in Colima" the title of this article? Sandvich18 (talk) 13:09, 1 August 2017 (UTC)

Not sure, but all Latin American articles appear to be this way. I have nominated Cantons of Costa Rica without problem. The list of is a bit redundant I think, but if you think it should be changed that could be done, but it should be done to all ~40 or so articles... Mattximus (talk) 13:54, 1 August 2017 (UTC)

Comments - this is a very short article, and others may find it difficult seeing it as a FL. Technical issues: Are you referring to the lead? If so I'm very open to any recommendations on increasing it's length. As for the list, there is not much that can be done, as it is 100% complete. Colima mentioned three times in the opening three sentences, reads poorly. Done "The largest municipality by area is Colima" to avoid "Colima" being linked the same way yet pointing at different targets, rephrase this to "The largest by area is Colima Municipality..." Done "1917 Constitution" and "plurality" are piped to redirects, just pipe to the articles in question. Done Conversions in the table as well as the lead would be good. Into American units? I'm not sure this is necessary in non-American articles, for example: Cantons of Costa Rica. Is this a make or break recommendation? If so I can add conversions to Imperial. It's not just "American units", us Brits enjoy using them too, so I would strongly advise conversions are included. • First, big one is that the table needs to be accessible. MOS:DTT gives some guidance on this.
• The equals signs don't work in the '#' column, as they break the sortability.
• Personally, I'd expect this list to give me some indication of the captains of the team.
• Visually, I think the table would be better narrower.
• The lead could probably do with being expanded a little bit more for a featured list too.

Overall I think a fair amount of work is needed to improve this to Featured quality. Perhaps take a look at the more recently promoted List of Cardiff City F.C. players for a more up to date idea of what is expected. Harrias ^talk 09:01, 27 August 2017 (UTC)

Hello, thanks for your comments. Resolving the problems:

• Done, recreated the table from scratch.
• Removed "#" column, which is not really needed.
• Marked players which captained the team in five or more matches with source; there are no "fixed" captains over longer period, so its hard to do it year-by-year.
• The table is now narrower, same as on Cardiff article.
• Expanded the lead with 3-4 new sentences, if the lead is still too short I would like some ideas what could be mentioned as well since I cant think of anything. Snowflake91 (talk) 19:33, 27 August 2017 (UTC)

Comments Spell out Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia instead of just using SFR Yugoslavia. Link "friendly" in the lead. "73rd minute for the final score of 1–1" maybe "73rd minute, the game ending in a 1–1 draw". " has managed to qualify for" -> "has qualified for". " earned at least one appearance for " a bit odd for me, maybe "have represented" " who made 98 appearances" is he still playing? if so then "who, as of 2017, has made 98..." "with 81 caps between " don't repeat "cap" here, just "with 81 appearances" " twelve years between 1992 and 2004" that's actually 13 years inclusive. "A total of 22 players captained the national team for at least one match" "A total of" is unnecessary although we shouldn't start sentences with numbers. "official matches.[12][9]" reverse order those refs. " list is ordered by" is initially. "Only the players with at least ten appearances in official matches are listed." this probably means the list title needs to be changed (see List of Arsenal F.C. players (1–24 appearances) for instance). The listing criteria should be mentioned in the lead section, or? Regarding renaming the article, maybe it should follow the example of another FL, List of France international footballers, where there is a note at top of the page that only the players with 20 appearances are listed?
