Tcpekin (talk · contribs) I just want to know what I can do better so I can better serve the Wikipedia community. As I am in high school, I do not get to edit as much as I would like to, and seem to read more than edit. Tcpekin 21:12, 18 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • There's nothing wrong with reading- that's what wikipedia's here for. Since you aren't able to get on a lot, which is unfortunate but probably wise-help! the wiki is controlling me I can't stop it! It's taking ... me over... cant resist... what a world... (glik)

...Now that I've restrained my subconscious, back to you. If you want to help out, we encourage it, and there are plenty of ways to do it. Lots of WP spaces have backlogs, many of which you can help and clear. You could go on Recent Changes or New Page Patrol- essentially, going through recent edits and identifying harmful vandalism or pages that should be speedily deleted, marking them and notifying/warning the users. I admit its thankless, but without RCP Wikipedia would be cluttered with crap and cruft like 'JESSIE MORGANS is 16 and HE ROXORS! LOLLERSKATES' (I'm not getting down on teens, but lets face it mate, half the population under 18 is by and large a mass of morons and we get lumped in with them). You can also look through WP:FAC, and WP:RFA to vote and share your concerns on articles or admin nominations. Or take a gander at the Community Portal- there are requests for pages, cleanup tasks, even "bounties" in which you can get cash for improving articles (I kid you not). Either way, you're edits have been valuable so far and I hope you can continue to help out in whatever way you wish. If you have questions, drop me a line. Questions

  1. Of your contributions to Wikipedia, are there any about which you are particularly pleased, and why?
I liked starting San Diego Yacht Club and Artificial wave because I thought they were useful. I have knowledge in both areas and don't have any regrets about creating those pages. I also have started Belmont Park at Mission Beach, but I don't edit it enough.
  2. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or do you feel other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
I have not been in any conflicts, but I would try to resolve them using the guidelines set forth by Wikipedia. I have made mistakes, but they have been resolved quickly and peacefully.
