Please do not remove deadlinks
editHello, and thank you for your efforts to improve Wikipedia! However, you should know that it is not a good idea to remove citations or information sourced through citations simply because a link to a source is not working, as you did to Tavern League of Wisconsin. Dead links should not be deleted. Instead, please repair or replace the link, if possible, and ensure properly sourced information is retained. Often, a live substitute link can be found. Links not used as references, notes or citations are not as important, such as those listed in the "External links" or "Further reading" sections, but bad links in those sections should also be fixed if possible. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. MarconiCheese (talk) 22:57, 20 February 2024 (UTC)
- OK, Thank you for the notice, In the future I will make a effort in repairing or replacing the dead links. THANK YOU! Zyxrq (talk) 23:19, 20 February 2024 (UTC)
Wikipedia and copyright
editHello Zyxrq! Your additions to Emanuel L. Philipp have been removed in whole or in part, as they appear to have added copyrighted content without evidence that the source material is in the public domain or has been released by its owner or legal agent under a suitably free and compatible copyright license. (To request such a release, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission.) While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoid copyright and plagiarism issues.
- You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
- Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify the information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
- We have strict guidelines on the usage of copyrighted images. Fair use images must meet all ten of the non-free content criteria in order to be used in articles, or they will be deleted. To be used on Wikipedia, all other images must be made available under a free and open copyright license that allows commercial and derivative reuse.
- If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. Understand, though, that unlike many other sites, where a person can license their content for use there and retain non-free ownership, that is not possible at Wikipedia. Rather, the release of content must be irrevocable, to the world, into either the public domain (PD) or under a suitably free and compatible copyright license. Please see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
- Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you must follow the copyright attribution steps described at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. See also Help:Translation#License requirements.
It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, please ask them here on this page, or leave a message on my talk page. Thank you. — Diannaa (talk) 14:08, 21 February 2024 (UTC)
"No reliable sources for the coat of arms"
editUh hey so why did you remove the coats of arms off of the Reichsgau Sachsen page? Are the historical artifacts I posted not reliable? Hubert de Vries has a page showing off every single one and he was one of the best sources for coats of arms in the world. NorthTension (talk) 11:17, 8 April 2024 (UTC)
- So I did some digging and it seems like what you called the coat of arms of Gau Saxony. was actually a Symbol of a Nazi organization that operated in the state. If you could give me the sources you originally posted, I could search for the sources I found on the topic. Zyxrq (talk) 21:47, 9 April 2024 (UTC)
- Is this postcard that's posted on Wikipedia not reliable? NorthTension (talk) 22:09, 11 April 2024 (UTC)
- Personally I wouldn't consider it reliable but we should get a third opinion on it. Theo I don't know much German this source dose seem to source Wikipedia it self which isn't considered to be reliable. [[1]] Zyxrq (talk) 02:10, 13 April 2024 (UTC)
- Why wouldn't you consider that postcard reliable...? NorthTension (talk) 13:37, 29 April 2024 (UTC)
- so uh, did you ever make a decision on this? NorthTension (talk) 17:34, 15 July 2024 (UTC)
- @NorthTension I don't mind The coat of arms. Someone ended up re-adding the coat of arms anyways. Personally I don't think its the official arms, I'm also not going to get into a edit war over it. I would rather improve the body of the article itself, rather than talking about the coat of arms. so yes it can stay. Zyxrq (talk) 00:40, 16 July 2024 (UTC)
- My suggestion is just look for more reliable sources. Zyxrq (talk) 00:42, 16 July 2024 (UTC)
