Speedy deletion of Jon Owens

edit

A tag has been placed on Jon Owens requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. Leonard(Bloom) 03:08, 10 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Please restore Sean Connaughton

edit

Please restore Sean Connaughton. You deleted Sean Connaughton as csd-a7 and csd-g10. I don't have access to the version you deleted, but when I created the article it was relatively neutral and identified him as a senior government official, head of the Maritime Administration. There is extensive media coverage of him at http://news.google.com/archivesearch?q=%22Sean+Connaughton%22 , but much of it refers to his prior role as a county-level politician. Even so, articles such as http://www.accessmylibrary.com/coms2/summary_0286-29352627_ITM and http://www.accessmylibrary.com/coms2/summary_0286-25442588_ITM discuss him as a federal government official. If you prefer to send the restored article to AfD, that's fine, but I do think that he's notable. --TruthbringerToronto (Talk | contribs) 21:01, 10 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Alumni Notability

edit

As has been stated many times when this same guy has been removed from Towson High's page, "Members of notable bands are not-notable by default (WP:BAND), so not appropriate to list non-notable people notable". His WP entry is a redirect to the band's page, so there's no page about him, and it's not appropriate to list redlinks or "not clearly notable" people in alumni lists (WP is for notable stuff, not laundry lists). If you feel this person is notable, please create an actual page for him that meets the WP:BIO/WP:BAND standards. Unless he's proven notable himself (not just "part of a notable band"), he actually is not notable enough to list. DMacks (talk) 22:13, 26 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Let's discuss this on the Talk:Towson High School page. – Zedla (talk) 22:42, 26 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

User talk:Flewis#November 2008

edit

Why didn't you give him the courtesy of a warning first? Flewis is a very proficient vandal-fighter, and he has a long track record of fine reversions. Take it from someone who has made more than 50000 reverts. (And 50000 warnings...) Why it so difficult to give users {{uw-3rr}} before {{uw-3rrblock}}? What hell is up with random admins blocking perfectly good vandal-fighters without any warning? Seriously, I think you need to reconsider that block. J.delanoygabsadds 05:41, 2 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

I've lifted the block but note that User:Flewis has been warned about and is aware of 3RR previously ([1] over Antonio Luján) – Zedla (talk) 05:56, 2 November 2008 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for unblocking, and I apologize for over-reacting. I do that a lot. I should have written that note, got a snack, and then come back and changed it to something rational. I'll leave Flewis a note asking him to slow down in the future. It's easy to do that with Huggle. (I'd show you the diff where I got bugged about doing something similar, but it was in February, and I'm lazy...)
Again, thanks, and please accept my apologies for my tone of voice. J.delanoygabsadds 06:04, 2 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

File source problem with File:Burlingame HS CA football 1.jpg

edit

File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:Burlingame HS CA football 1.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 05:29, 9 April 2009 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Radiant chains (talk) 05:29, 9 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Your opinion on Amador Valley High School?

edit

Hi Zedla, I'm leaving this message for you because of your early assessment of Amador Valley High School and your work with Balboa High School (San Francisco, California) I was wondering if you had time to give your opinion on the Amador Valley High School, since it's been improved much since the last time you've seen it. I fear that the article is not "comprehensive" enough. Thanks for your time. Deltawk (talk) 03:53, 24 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

AfD nomination of Production and Design Conservatory

edit

An editor has nominated one or more articles which you have created or worked on, for deletion. The nominated article is Production and Design Conservatory. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also Wikipedia:Notability and "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion(s) by adding your comments to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Production and Design Conservatory. Please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate.

Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 01:05, 18 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

Suspension of admin privileges due to inactivity

edit

Following a community discussion in June 2011, consensus was reached to provisionally suspend the administrative privileges of users who have been inactive for one year, meaning administrators who have made neither any edits nor any logged actions in over one year. As a result of this discussion, your administrative privileges have been removed pending your return. If you wish to have these privileges reinstated, please post to the Wikipedia:Bureaucrats' noticeboard and the userright will be restored per the re-sysopping process (i.e., as long as the attending bureaucrats are reasonably satisfied that your account has not been compromised and that your inactivity did not have the effect of evading scrutiny of any actions which might have led to sanctions). This removal of access is procedural only, and not intended to reflect negatively upon you in any way. We wish you the best in future endeavors, and thank you for your past administrative efforts. Notice of change

edit

Hello. You are receiving this message because of a recent change to the administrator policy that alters what you were told at the time of your desysopping. The effect of the change is that you will not longer be able to request restoration of the tools because of your prior inactivity. You have until December 30, 2012 to request restoration or else the policy will prevent you from doing so in the future; you would need to seek a new WP:RFA. Until December 30, you can file a request at WP:BN for review by the crats. Thank you. MBisanz talk 04:22, 3 December 2012 (UTC)Reply

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Thanks for uploading File:WHSseal2.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
