Emma Watson

edit

Hi, thank you for your contributions. Your edits have been reverted, with the exception of the link to J. K. Rowling, accidentally removed during a previous edit. All other examples already were linked in the page, and repetetive links are not in keeping with Wikipedia style. Also, the original quote, "brightest witch of your age" needs brackets for "[her]" since it was changed for sentence context. Questions? Write me :) RadioKirk talk to me 01:58, 8 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for removing most of my edits on Emma Watson. I was not sure which ones would be repetative, and which ones would not be.
It can be tricky at times, especially in longer articles; I've had to copy+paste into an editor some of the pages I work on so I can check for repeats. Anyway, good catch on the missing Rowling link; the page recently underwent some reorganization and that one got lost. RadioKirk talk to me 02:06, 8 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

"Blanking" your talk page

edit

In case you're not aware, "blanking" one's talk page is a common trick used by vandals to hide their histories (it doesn't work, either—the page history is visible for as long as Wikipedia exists). Please see this link for an explanation. RadioKirk talk to me 19:30, 8 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

Fr. John Corapi

edit

(copied form User talk:DESiegel):

Thank you very much for editing the article on Fr. John Corapi. I'm trying to learn how to write aricles in a Neutral PoV better. Tony 23:37, 16 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

You are quite welcome. Please note that the articel should read like a neutral account, not an exceport from hsi own work nor form the work of a fan. Statements of fact should be distinguished from opnions, adn all opnions should be attributed to a specific source, preferably with a reference cited. The articel is still far from the best on wikipedia, but it is significantly better than it was. I wish i could find an outside source on the effect or prominence of Corapi's talks and preaching. WP: Admin Intervention again Vandalism

edit

Hello Tvaughn05, just wanted to let you know that when you list a vandal on the WP:AIV page, you have to post it at the bottom of the page. You accidentally replaced the example that was under hidden text, which is just there so users know the format, thus, the vandal you reported didn't get listed. I noticed this and have blocked the vandal, so no harm done; this is only a friendly notice for the future. Also, when signing you name, please use four ~~~~, so that a timestamp comes out. This way, administrators can know what time you placed your warning to the vandal compared to his or her last vandalism (so we know if he or she has stopped vandalising). There is a way to add a customized signature so that it comes out when using the four tildes. simply go to "my preferences" and under nickname, enter all the special wiki markup you want to make the signature come out, then press save. Doing this will allow your username, and any other special feature you'd like to add to your sig come out when using the tildes. If you have already done this, then enter four tildes, instead of three so that the timestamp comes out next it. Thanks for reporting the vandal. -- PRueda29 / Ptalk29 / Pcontribs29 19:09, 26 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

  • I apologize, I clicked the add button that was in the instructions. I listed another vandal in the same way!! I'm sorry! Thanks for the tip on the signautre, I just missed a tilde =). I appreciate you letting me know this! Ø tVaughn05 talkcontribs 19:11, 26 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

Welcome to Esperanza!

edit

Welcome, Tvaughn05, to Esperanza, the Wikipedia member association! As you might know, all the Esperanzians share one important goal: the success of this encyclopedia. Within that, we then attempt to strengthen the community bonds, and be the "approachable" side of the project. All of our ideals are held in the Charter, the governing document of the association.

Now that you are a member you should read the guide to what to do now or you may be interested in some of our programs. A quite important program is the StressUnit, which seeks to support editors who have encountered any stress from their Wikipedia events, and are seeking to leave the project. So far, Esperanza can be credited with the support and retention of several users. Redwolf24 runs the spam to keep members up to date. Also, we have a calendar of special events, member birthdays, and other holidays that you can add to and follow.

In addition to these projects, several more missions of Esperanza are in development, and are currently being created at Esperanza/Possibles.

I encourage you to take an active voice in the running of Esperanza. We have a small government system, headed by our Administrator general, Celestianpower, and guided by the Advisory Committee comprised of FireFox, Flcelloguy, Titoxd, and Karmafist. The next set of elections will be in February, and I would be glad to see you vote, or even consider running for a position.

If you have any other questions, concerns, comments, or general ideas, Esperanzian or otherwise, know that you can always contact Celestianpower by email or talk page or the Esperanza talk page. Alternatively, you could communicate with fellow users via our IRC channel, #wikipedia-esperanza (which is also good for a fun chat or two :). I thank you for joining Esperanza, and look forward to working with you in making Wikipedia a better place to work!

An Esperanzial note

edit

As I remember, the last spam that was handed out was on the 20th of December last year, so I think it's time for another update. First and foremost, the new Advisory Council and Administrator General have been elected. They consist of myself as Admin General and FireFox, Titoxd, Flcelloguy and Karmafist as the Advisory Council. We as a group met formally for the first time on the 31st of Decembe. The minutes of this meeting can be found at WP:ESP/ACM. The next one is planned for tonight (Sunday 29 January) at 20:30 UTC and the agenda can be found at WP:ESP/ACM2.

In other news, Karmafist has set up a discussion about a new personal attack policy, which it can be found here. Other new pages include an introductory page on what to do when you sign up, So you've joined Esperanza... and a welcome template: {{EA-welcome}} (courtesy of Bratsche). Some of our old hands may like to make sure they do everything on the list as well ;) Additionally, the userpage award program proposal has become official is operational: see Wikipedia:Esperanza/User Page Award to nominate a userpage or volunteer as a judge. Also see the proposed programs page for many new proposals and old ones that need more discussion ;)

Other than that, I hope you all had a lovely Christmas and wish you an Esperanzially good new WikiYear :D Thank you! --Celestianpower háblame 16:57, 29 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

Who's playing Jesus?

edit

Hi. I doubt very much that the picture you posted at Jesus Christ Superstar shows Ian Gillan. According to the article and what I know of this, Gillan sang on the original album but never appeared in any production. If you carefully read the text at the page you took the picture from, you can see that although one might think the album is the cast album of the musical, it's really the album of the score of the musical. As the article says, this album, the one that topped the charts, was made before the play was ever produced.

I haven't been able to figure out which production your picture is from and who is playing Jesus. —JerryFriedman 21:45, 1 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

Esperanza User Page Award

edit

Hi Tvaughn05! You've signed up to be a judge for the Esperanza User Page Award! You'll be assigned three user pages to examine. Pick your favorite one and award it 1-10 points in four categories:

  • Attractiveness: general layout, considering colour scheme and/or use of tables if applicable
  • Usefulness: links to subpages or editing aids, helpful information
  • Interesting-ness: quirky, unique, captivating, or funny content
  • General niceness: at the judges' discretion

Please see the Scores section on this page for additional information on your job as a judge.

Keep in mind that your scores are a secret! Email KnowledgeOfSelf with your scores and final picks. Please contact him for information on how to email him. As soon as all the scores have been tallied, a winner will be announced! Thanks.

You'll have to choose your favorite amongst the following three user pages:

  2. Joanne B
  3. Lord Voldemort

Another Esperanzial note...

edit

Hi again Esperanzians! Well, since our last frolic in the realms of news, the Advisory Council has met twice more (see WP:ESP/ACM2 and WP:ESP/ACM3). As a result, the charter has been ammended twice (see here for details) and all of the shortcuts have been standardised (see the summary for more details). Also of note is the Valentines ball that will take place in the Esperanza IRC channel on the 14th of February (tomorrow). It will start at 6pm UTC and go on until everyone's had enough! I hope to see you all there! Also, the spamlist has been dissolved - all Esperanzians will now recieve this update "newsletter".

The other major notice I need to tell you about is the upcoming Esperanza Advisory Council Elections. These will take place from 12:00 UTC on February 20th to 11:59 UTC on February 27th. The official handing-over will take place the following day. Candidates are able to volunteer any time before the 20th, so long as they are already listed on the members list. Anyone currently listed on the memberlist can vote. In a change since last time, if you have already been a member of the leadership, you may run again. Due to the neutrality precident, I will not vote for anyone.

Yours, as ever, Esperanzially,

Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading Image:She Said Yes.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. 86.152.203.212 13:02, 18 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:Beauty geek.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Beauty geek.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Replaceable fair use Image:Celeb_joanne.jpg

Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Celeb_joanne.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, fair use media which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if not used in an article), per our Fair Use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Garion96 (talk) 09:51, 8 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading Image:Bo Duke.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Britneysaints (talk) 13:09, 8 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

File permission problem with File:Kelseylynn.jpg

edit

File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:Kelseylynn.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to [email protected], stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to [email protected].

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. MBisanz talk 05:07, 26 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

Just so you know, I removed this bit here. I think it veers too closely into mission-statement language, and offers nothing specific. (Those two "in"s also seem a bit awkward to me.)
