About Archives
You don't have to blank the page to archive it. I could just take away most of the things you are done with, and perhaps add more to the archive later if you want. R U Sure? 2D Backfire Master oh yeah 20:03, 9 May 2010 (UTC)
- You can archive it now, convos are done here. Time for a clean page! Thanks, Tommy2010 23:04, 9 May 2010 (UTC)
- Good? I think that turned out very well, myself. Happy to be of help anytime. 2D Backfire Master oh yeah 11:29, 10 May 2010 (UTC)
- Thank you :D Tommy2010 11:33, 10 May 2010 (UTC)
- (edit conflict) P.S. How to archive: Simply create a link underneath the latest archive's link in the archive box. The new link should read [[/Archive 3|May 2010 - month of archiving]], etc. Then, cut everything that you want to put away. Paste into the new archive. To top it off, put the template {{archive}} on the top and bottom. That's really all there is to it. 2D Backfire Master oh yeah 11:35, 10 May 2010 (UTC)
- Ah I see. Okay, thanks! Tommy2010 11:56, 10 May 2010 (UTC)

RE:Warning
Hey if you're talking about me removing the categories on user pages, they were accidental and caused by my recent addition of twinkle. I have undid them myself. If you are talking about something else then please do explain--JDDJS (talk) 23:49, 10 May 2010 (UTC)

Not quite sure which is the "unvandalized" version, but the 18April one seems more likely than the changes made today by 217.42.95.50 as part of a vandalism spree. DMacks (talk) 17:16, 11 May 2010 (UTC)

User warning templates showing diff
Hi Tommy,
Can you tell me the format for the warning template you use that adds the link to the specific diff resulting in the warning, like you did here, or show me where that's located for future reference? I don't see that discussed on the template page, and it doesn't show up in diffs because of the substitution. Thanks much, Northumbrian (talk) 16:51, 12 May 2010 (UTC)
- I actually use an application called Huggle (sounds terrifying I know) which does that automatically. Nifty huh? Tommy2010 17:00, 12 May 2010 (UTC)

Why
why do you keep reverting my edit? Anything written in that section is pure propaganda, not 1 source is cited. Please elaborate. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.83.2.35 (talk) 02:46, 13 May 2010 (UTC)
- Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but your recent edit removed content from Wikipedia. When removing text, please specify a reason in the edit summary and discuss edits that are likely to be controversial on the article's talk page. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the text has been restored, as you can see from the page history. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia, and if you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you. Tommy2010 02:47, 13 May 2010 (UTC)

- As said above, you removed content without any reason, and a large section I might add. Tommy2010 02:50, 13 May 2010 (UTC)
- I gave a reason on the talk page, can you cite 1 source that supported that section? It is build on thin air because it is pure propaganda. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.83.2.35 (talk) 02:59, 13 May 2010 (UTC)

User talk:59.144.60.98
Hi, re this message [1], was it intended to be a different one? I was wondering if it would be OK to remove it as the user has been editing disruptively. Cassandra 73 (talk) 19:39, 13 May 2010 (UTC)
- Hello Cassandra. (Finally remembers why now) It was regarding this edit in which the IP says that the section is removed. That's why I sent the "So fix it" notification. --Tommy2010 19:43, 13 May 2010 (UTC)

Temperance, Michigan
I, David Latford, am a prominent figure in the homosexual rights movement of Temperance, Michigan. I am currently trying to get a bill passed to allow gay couples rights for registering as a couple on formal town documents. I will gather the proper citations if needed.

TMi cbbc page.
TMi cbbc page.
Not sure why random people were vandalizing that page. I should have put a edit summary to show what i had deleted.
Someone was being "creative" with the TMi guest list and kept adding guests that did not ever appear on the programme. I.E Michael Jackson: he had never appeared on this show, it was singer Alesha Dixon who filled in for the female host and some idiot thought Michael Jackson had filled in for her!
I was simply deleting the vandalism that others were making on that page and yes i should have added an edit summary! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.74.232.4 (talk) 23:11, 14 May 2010 (UTC)

Mitch Lewis
I am sorry for the inconvenience of the Mitchell Lewis being posted under December 21, because clearly the link sends you to a page about some one different. However, the other Mitch Lewis is actually born on that date and is an important person who deserves to be on this page. He is an artist and a musician growing in popularity. He is said to be "changing the world of music forever." So if you could not ban me when I add him I would be extremely thankful.24.9.122.200 (talk) 05:25, 17 May 2010 (UTC)

Users and IPs have the right to remove any content they want from their talk pages as evidence that they have read the messages, although archiving is preferrable for a number of reasons. However, if a user is being continuously warned for vandalism, removing warning templates are not a free pass. Obviously not true for your case, but generally speaking, yes. Bar Mitsvah?
Hello...I was wondering if there was a valid reason you reverted the Bar Mitzvah page to an edit before my correction of
/ Bar Barakah means, in *Hebrew*, "Son of the Blessing." ----> / Bar Barakah means, in *Aramaic*, "Son of the Blessing."
The revised text is incorrect; my initial edit was a correction of the faulty information included in the article. You should not be so enthusiastic about blindly reverting all edits made by unregistered users as "vandalism" without first checking to ensure the propriety of their contributions. I have changed the text back to read "Aramaic" once more; please do not revert this to "Hebrew" again! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.68.72.108 (talk) 05:21, 20 May 2010 (UTC)
- Everything I reverted in that article was blatant vandalism. However, I did have to jump back a few revisions, in which case that information might have been lost, which I'm sorry. Tommy2010 11:56, 20 May 2010 (UTC)
- Hmm...actually, the revision I had made was immediately after one of yours, which happens to have been the one that you reverted to when you erased my edit. As there were no edits between mine and yours, there was obviously no vandalism you could possibly have been reverting by erasing my edit. In fact, I even filled out the summary describing the contents of the edit (the entire purpose of which practise is to communicate the validity of the edit); in the future, if you consider the contents of the edit summaries before assuming "blatant vandalism," you may avoid the unnecessary of elimination of valid and valuable information. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.68.72.108 (talk) 05:37, 21 May 2010 (UTC)

Care
Please take a bit more care reverting IP users. I noticed a good edit that you reverted, perhaps because it was tagged as removing references. Please read edits carefully before reverting them, especially if it's an IP user - scaring away good contributors does the project far more harm than vandalism. Orpheus (talk) 07:16, 24 May 2010 (UTC)
Uh, that's a good edit? Can you elaborate more on that for me?I don't think any vandal fighter would not have reverted that. And I try very hard to revert only vandalism because I am well aware IPs may be scared away by false warnings- I was one of them. – Tommy2010 11:28, 24 May 2010 (UTC)- Messaged user about removing content, I think that edit was overly ambiguous. – Tommy2010 17:34, 24 May 2010 (UTC)
You added a warning again to the bottom of this person's page.
This person is not a one off vandal, but is the subject of an abuse investigation - Wikipedia:Abuse response/84.241.53.54 - and should be blocked,
The poster in question is using a number of names, and IPs, displaying much the same behaviour pattern. Please add evidence at the abuse response page above.--MacRusgail (talk) 09:42, 24 May 2010 (UTC)
- I revert vandalism and it automatically warns the users, starting at level 1 if the IP/user has not been warned within a day. Will do. – Tommy2010 11:30, 24 May 2010 (UTC)
Tommy, I can't assume good faith, as there is obviously one individual operating under different identity whose sole object in life seems to be to change "Arabian Gulf" to "Persian Gulf". For what it's worth, I'd say Persian Gulf as well... or "the Gulf", if I wished to be politically correct, but this individual has a history going back months, and does not respond on their talk page(s). It's very much an ongoing problem, and I don't believe that first level warnings are in order for such a person, who's been vandalising the same pages for years under different identities. He knows exactly what he's doing.
I understand why you did what you did, and I think we need more people keeping a watch on Wikipedia, but I think this person has a track record, albeit under different IPs. He edits very little else other than the Arabian Gulf articles. I'm beginning to move towards the idea that all users should have an account - it would slow down vandalism perhaps, even if, sadly, it stopped some genuine editors.--MacRusgail (talk) 12:00, 24 May 2010 (UTC)
- Understood. But Wikipedia works, and even if it is a long-term abuse case, best to pretend to be stupid than to act like you're right, even if you are ;) – Tommy2010 12:38, 24 May 2010 (UTC)
Again: Care
I also came here to mention a blind revert you did here. While it's debatable which version is better, the IP was clearly trying to improve the article and even left a good edit summary. Even if you undid the edit, you should not blindly warn the user: please see WP:BITE. Newcomers should be encouraged to edit Wikipedia, not scared away. Better to leave out warning a hundred one-off vandals than to discourage one potentially helpful contributor! Shreevatsa (talk) 22:49, 24 May 2010 (UTC)
- To be fair, I think I missed the edit summary and saw only the random letters, which is a common type of vandalism. Messaged user. – Tommy2010 23:10, 24 May 2010 (UTC)
- Yes, that is probably what happened, which is exactly why I said you should be more careful, especially in looking at the edit summary. Look, I understand that reverting vandalism is essential to Wikipedia, and it is good that you spend so much time on it. It is fine if some good edits are reverted for "looking like" vandalism — someone paying attention can always restore them. But it is not fine if users are scared away unnecessarily. I suggest that you revert edits just the way you do now, but leave warnings on a user page only when you are very certain that there has been vandalism. (I'm not sure what purpose these warnings serve in the first place, other than for repeated vandals — most users probably will not visit again soon from the same IP address, and there's always the danger that some other user may be assigned the IP address and see a scary message.) Shreevatsa (talk) 23:53, 24 May 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks. I will implement that by using more reverting and revert/warn in a more distinguishable way. – Tommy2010 00:14, 25 May 2010 (UTC)
(I'm not sure what purpose these warnings serve in the first place, other than for repeated vandals — most users probably will not visit again soon from the same IP address, and there's always the danger that some other user may be assigned the IP address and see a scary message.) Edit Notice
I think the Stop hand should be at the bottom half of the notice, not the top half. If there's any way to do it, I suggest getting it done (I notice it's full protected now). mechamind90 05:59, 25 May 2010 (UTC)
- No, because the points at the top are supposed to grab your attention. I believe it has deterred vandalism from this page. —Tommy2010 12:20, 25 May 2010 (UTC)

RE: [6] I am hoping that this was a goodwill gesture indicating that G is willing to put aside what was a not so great start at Wikipedia and begin to work towards being a productive member of the community; and not a disruptive act. your removal of my edit
The edit I made to the Shih Tzu page was NOT vandalism. As to size, there is MUCH controversy regarding size and the information was listed as fact, when it's not fact - but opinion. Also, crossbred info should NOT be included on the purebred page. The page is for Shih Tzu, not the crossbred mutts. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.167.61.95 (talk) 13:03, 26 May 2010 (UTC)
- Hello. The first edit was a removal of content without explanation, as I made sure I used the delete2 warning. The 2nd of your edits, I believe merited a level 3 warning as it again removed a different section (with citations), again, without explanation. I am not saying you're wrong, I realy don't know much about dogs, but if you remove content, actually if you ever edit anything on Wikipedia, it is always best to explain why. Thank you —Tommy2010 13:15, 26 May 2010 (UTC)
- So do I go back in and remove again and type my explanation? I am new to editing here, but am extremely knowledgeable regarding the Shih Tzu. I just don't like seeing someone's opinion expressed as fact. Can you restore my edit with the reasons given to you? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.167.61.95 (talk) 13:23, 26 May 2010 (UTC)
- Yes, absolutely! That's why anyone can edit it! Knowledgeable people are supposed to edit Wikipedia! But, when you say knowledgeable, you can't use experience as a reason, as any information people put in Wikipedia must be verifiable. Wikipedia recently revamped its website to make it easier for new users to add citations and edit pages to be more welcoming and less frightening. Every page has a history button. You can see where it says my name (Tommy2010 ... reverted edits by ..... bla bla bla) above your IP. You can undo my edit and explain why the information should or should not be in Wikipedia. If you would like assistance with citing references, you can ask, although Wikipedia has made it extremely easy to do now, as there is a new Cite option at the top of the edit box. —Tommy2010 13:28, 26 May 2010 (UTC)
- There seems to be a discussion of sorts going on at Talk:Shih Tzu#Crosses: remove cross info? to which this IP has contributed. Nothing like consensus has emerged, so going ahead and deleting stuff is not a very good idea. Favonian (talk) 13:36, 26 May 2010 (UTC)

Concord Township Delaware, OH
The public services section of this page has an EMS provider listed that is not the actual EMS provider for that township. Through trial and error I have finally edited this section to reflect the accurate information, with correct citation to a website that confirms the information. User Nyttend continuously changes it back. User Nyttend has made comments about me on the edit section and when I did the same he reprimanded my page. I have also recieved a message from you that asks me not to "edit war" which is obviously what has begun to happen. This matter needs a third party decision at this point. Will you please review both edits to the page because I don't understand why mine is being labeled "inaccurate" when it is actually the accurate statement. I work for Concord Township and I know exactly who provides emergency services and fire suppression and it is definitely not Delaware County EMS. I noticed that you are/were recently engaged in a fierce debate over whether or not you are sane competent up to the near-unreachable standards some Wikipedians demand. You're doing fine. Just remember: keep a cool head. A flustered debater is likely to say outrageous statements by accident. I think you are competent, sane, and up to par. But that's me, the dude who keeps editing fun pages when vandalism is low. Keep up the good work, but remember to stay cool, and it's not the quantity, but the quality. But all reverts are quality, I suppose. 2D Maestro Immune Diplomat 11:11, 28 May 2010 (UTC)
- I try 2D, I try. I'm just really annoyed. I called an account a troll, got questioned and humiliated for it.. and oh look. It's a troll. shocking. And what really upsets me is that in real life, I'm a really easy going person, and many people say I'm optimistic. So for random editors to say "I need to agf more" is a bit ridiculous. that's all, but I appreciate the comments. I'm not angry anymore, just really annoyed, it makes me not want to contribute anymore. —Tommy2010 16:24, 28 May 2010 (UTC)
- Please carry on contributing. If there's one thing I've learned over the years, it's that you will, from time to time, have disagreements with people over the "letter of the law". Try stating your case and walking away – and when it turns out you were right all along, that's even more satisfying. Keep your head while others around you lose theirs. Developing yet another countervandalism collaboration tool
Hi. I see that you are actively reverting vandalism. Would you be interested to give it a test run to a a Web 2.0 countervandalism collaboration tool that I develop? It's here: http://wpcvn.com/ The site is supposed to be intuitive. Can you try using it, patrol a few recent changes and give me some feedback? --Dc987 (talk) 05:38, 30 May 2010 (UTC)
- I'll check it out. —Tommy2010 12:07, 30 May 2010 (UTC)
- So you have to click on each diff? —Tommy2010 12:17, 30 May 2010 (UTC)
- Yes. It would open a standard diff in a new tab and would include your nickname into the "Patrolled By" column.
- That's not obvious from the interface? Or you want to be able to see the diff in the table? I thought that standard diffs are a good choice: familiar + one can use Twinkle right away.
- --Dc987 (talk) 22:36, 30 May 2010 (UTC)
- Have you used huggle? Just wondering. I like the layout from huggle better. The recent changes are on the left, and when you click on a change (from the article) the diff opens up in the middle so you see the diff link. It's pretty intuitive. My feedback would be a quicker method of viewing the diff link because to click on each one seems like it'd take a lot of time. —Tommy2010 23:05, 30 May 2010 (UTC)
- Aha. Just tried huggle and I think I can see your point. Good tool should use its own brains (import soul ;) ) and simply show juiciest currently unreverted vandalism case to the user. --Dc987 (talk) 02:38, 31 May 2010 (UTC)

Hi Tommy
I'm just wondering why you removed my warning on this users talk page? I warned him for this edit in which he added a link to Facebook which is not allowed as far as I'm aware. XLinkBot had previously warned him for the same addition but you removed my warning saying the edit wasn't vandalism yet left both of XLinkBot's in? I'm confused! --5 albert square (talk) 22:06, 30 May 2010 (UTC)
- From what I remember (cuz the page has been deleted under G7) you warned him for blanking the page (even though I see it was for an EL, but I'm almost positive it was also a page blanking), and then he did it again so I reverted but then checked the page history. It's not vandalism if the creator of a page blanks it. —Tommy2010 22:09, 30 May 2010 (UTC)
- Nope, I definitely didn't warn him for blanking a page I warned him for adding Facebook as a link after XLinkBot had deleted it --5 albert square (talk) 22:14, 30 May 2010 (UTC)
- Gah, okay. I swear it was for something different, but I can't verify. Sorry for any misunderstanding —Tommy2010 22:16, 30 May 2010 (UTC)
