Hola amigo is that you? Actually I am english but do speak a bit of spanish. I am responsible for the Argentine films on wikipedia. If you like I can compile the entire list of missing spanish films for adding to the table. Tus contribuciones son excellentes!! Hi Rohmerin and congratulations for your work in the Spanish film list! Luis Buñuel is my very dearest director. I am formatting the Spanish list currently to fit the new format we are applying to all film lists by country. I made sure no data you entered was lost. Just a few fixes here and there and I moved a couple of items from Genre to Notes, to keep the style in line with the other lists. Also the titles will soon become normal text (not bold), as this decision is about to be taken. You can always tell us your opinion in Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Films/List and navigation management and you are most welcome to join WP Films. The translation department is at Wikipedia:Translation. We plan to get a translation board specifically for films, but it's not organized yet. If I can help you in any other way, please feel free to ask me any time. Hoverfish Talk 16:21, 29 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

I also saw you filled a film infobox in The Executioner (1963 film). Where it sais " image= " and " image_size= " it is for images of film posters we upload, which appear in the infobox. If you look at other infoboxes with images, you can edit the page to look at how it's filled up. More information on filling up film infoboxes is at Template:Infobox Film. I hope this helps. Cheers! Hoverfish Talk 16:28, 29 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

I've expanded it. I am amazed this wasn't an article yet!! El Verdugo is the correct name -actually the english title is Not On Your Life but this is correct. Saludos amigo! ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Expecting you" "S.P.E.C.T.R.E" 17:09, 29 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Well, I hope you will soon get used with our complications. No, we are not supposed to copy text from other websites to wikipedia. We have to write it with our own words. If a translation is made from other language wikipedias it's ok. Please, while the tag is there at the top of the Spanish list wait a while, since I am formatting the page. It will be ready in 15-20 more minutes. Thanks. And please when you leave messages, sign your name by typing 4 tidles: ~~~~. Hoverfish Talk 17:20, 29 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Great I think its about time to split the Spanish film page by decade like List of Canadian films. I'll leave it for now though. When this is completed fully I'd imagine there would be more spanish films than argentine films have you seen the size of that list!!! ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Expecting you" "S.P.E.C.T.R.E" 21:39, 1 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

HI I have just asked Hoverfish to format the Italian films like Spanish list. It'll probably be done tomrrow or Tuesday if he is aware you'd like to fill it in. I personally would also like to work on Italian film articles but I'm still stuck on Argentina!!! ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Expecting you" "S.P.E.C.T.R.E" 22:01, 1 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hi, I have formatted the Italian list until the 1970s. I will take a break know, but I would like to tell you about the problems I see in the list. First of all the capitalization is often wrong. As the project Italy has informed us, the first noun after the articles should be capitalized in Italian titles. Sometimes this is not done, and instead t´someone has created a redirect from the incorrect spelling to the article, which has it correct. Second, it will not be long before most of the films that are known to the English speaking world under an English title, will all be renamed to their English title. So if there are films that have no article yet, please, prefer to give first the English name followed in parenthesis by the original title. Third, the alphabetical sorting within each year is often wrong, but I copied all the titles as I found them in the list. The article in the beginning (Il, Gli, etc.) should be ignored, and the sorting should go by the next word after the article. Fourth, Blofeld is happy to see as many films as possible in the lists, but I am not and many others are also not happy about it at all. Please, enter all the films you think are important, but no more than them. There are silly films of low quality produced in every country by the tons. I trust your critical choice of the most representative films of Italy. For example, we don't need to have each and every film of Franco e Ciccio, although some (few) of their best would be good to have. Thanks a lot for your effort. I will continue the formatting later today (I will place the clock-tag again), so if you wish you can start with the list now. Hoverfish Talk 14:09, 2 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Comment I am happy to see as many films which have enough information for an article and are featured films fill the lists yes providing there is some kind of notability on them. but there are of course many feature Z films of many silly films which shouldn't make the lists. I don;t know what it'll take to convince Hoverfish over this. I really don't plan to empty imdb but I would certainly like them to be an informative as possible. They are a list of films not a list of award winning films!! Indian cinema has a list of top films and a list of general films because of this ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Expecting you" "S.P.E.C.T.R.E" 18:48, 3 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Yes, thank you for helping out. I know all this may be somewhat complicated for you. How things are done in Wikipedia is not always consistent and there are many mistakes. This is why I try to keep this series of lists in some "exemplary" style and order. But all can change and improve as we get more opinions and comments from contributors, so you are always welcome to let us know if you see somewhere a problem or a possibility for improvements. Enjoy your edits. Hoverfish Talk 07:54, 3 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

I'vwe sorted it -you were using an old info box. In future please copy the info box now in the article and don't delete any missing columns. Hola amigo. It is much if you stick with the original italian titles often you translate them and they are not the correct titles and confusing for the reader . Please try to keep the Italian titles unless they have been featured in the english world with a well known english titles e.g THe Good the Bad and the Ugly etc ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Expecting you" Contribs 14:21, 29 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

The British films list

edit

Hello Rohmerin. Thanks you for the work that you are doing on the British films list page. There are just a few things to be aware of.

  1. The list is alphabetical. Actually, I think that you are already doing this but I did find a few entries in the wrong spot so I thought that I would mention it.
  2. Please cover up the descriptor for the film. For instance when you enter - Henry V (1944 film) - then put a vertical line | and then type Henry V again before closing the link.
  3. Please do not put so many of the cast members of a film on this page. This page is a thumbnail list. Readers can click on the film to find the rest of the cast. Please put three or four members at the most.
  4. Please see the wording that I am using to describe the spot on the BFI top 100 list. Your wording was okay but, to my thinking, it made it sound like it was a race where the other finishers in a race who just couldn't keep up.
  5. If you could keep putting (by copying and pasting) some of the blank lines (ie [[]] || || || ||) in the various years it helps the next person who is coming along to have a ready made place to put their entry.

Thanks again for your help and happy editing. MarnetteD | Talk 16:57, 29 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Thank you, very much, for your help on the list. It is much appreciated. I have enjoyed the cinema from your country, especially Cinema Paradiso, La Meglio Gioventù, Il Postino and Allegro non troppo. Take care and cheers. MarnetteD | Talk 12:15, 2 May 2007 (UTC)Reply
Many apologies for getting your country wrong. Of course you have the userbox for Spain. I just read your note about loving Italian Cinema and went the wrong way with it. Thank you for the suggestions you made and I will see what I can do with them. I also enjoy Spanish Cinema, especially the films of Almodovar. Again thanks for everything.MarnetteD | Talk 17:42, 2 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Because I haven't got there yet. Portugal hasn't been done either. Look I have put a lot of work into this including creating all those Itlaian direcotrs yesterday and all you do is criticize. ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Expecting you" Contribs 10:15, 15 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Also for the precise reason that no one is contibuting to spanish film articles not even yourself. I added a few films but if noone is working on them there doesn't seem much point -unless you want to list the missing direcotrs/ actors / films etc but work is best done on the main lists. I'm sure there are far more films which should be in them including mainstream films not B films ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Expecting you" Contribs 10:19, 15 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

For instance a lot of films seem to be missing from the Itlaian lists. I just started Marisa Allasio and all her films are missing and am unsure whether they are in the List of Itlaian films:1950s. I didn't realise before how major Italian cinema was ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Expecting you" Contribs 10:45, 15 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

There are many films which I will never get to see!! I just started Amici per la pelle from 1955. I don;t think the Italian list is correct though the film didn;t star Sophia Loren did it? You may need to check ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Expecting you" Contribs 11:16, 15 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

In fact the spanish cinema seems similar to Argentina. 1930-1955 - classic movies many of them -but 1960-1995 -extremely poor low budget silly sex comedies. Luckily since 1995 the new wave of Argentine cinema has seen some improved films but still too many short films produced there today.

You'll, be pleased to know of the long awaited Wikipedia:WikiProject Films/Spanish cinema task force ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Expecting you" Contribs 17:03, 1 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Ah but they aren't free -the posters are still owned by the film companies involved. The site has a very good coverage of films and posters -useful for more obscure films but the licensing is still the same. ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Expecting you" Contribs 16:00, 5 July 2007 (UTC) Wikipedia is apparently cracking down on film images so it will be limited. I personally beleive several images really help the quality of the lists but too many images will be removed if they are contrary to the fair use rationale. Hopefully images including posters will continue to be permitted in the film articles. But this is the problem in creating a "free encyclopedia" -we are restricted in certain areas. I may be busy with the American film lists the next few days -feel free to help out ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Expecting you" Contribs 16:19, 5 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

pLease be careful. You uploaded an image to Margherita Buy with a rationale claiming a free image is impossible as she is deceased. Is she? If not then we can't unfortuntaely claim fair use and the image will have to be deleted until a free alternative can be found. ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 11:01, 21 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

OK but the thing is if she is living then there is no reason why a free image of her cannot reasonably be found. I am all for images on wikipedia but I am certain it would be deleted because we can't claim fair usage for it ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 11:06, 21 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

This is why for many living actors they don't have any images because a free one can't be found and any attempts people make to upload them result in them deleted. ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 11:07, 21 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

For Fernando Rey we can claim usage as he is deceased. ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 11:13, 21 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Ahh. Be careful!!! Remember the filmbiorationale is only for dead people. Only Francisco Rabal is legal out of these. They unfortunately will have to be deleted ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 11:26, 21 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

PLease remember you can't upload copywrighted images for LIVING actors. ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 11:27, 21 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

I know. I just spent about five days obtaining a free license from a Bollywood webiste for Indian actor images as we had this problem with them. This is the problem of a "free" encyclopedia -we have legal obligations to follow, -Iwill have to delete several of them as they also don't have the licensing ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 11:31, 21 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

They will have to go but don't think obtaining an unfree image is impossible. See Stefania Sandrelli this image is from flickr where it is compatible for free use. I'll try to find a free image of the actors. It can be done but may be difficult. Initially I thought you were male but you are female??? I love Spanish and Italian women!!!! ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 11:37, 21 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Ah I see. There were a couple of things more recently where I thought you might be female, some of th things you have said but I understand now. Hey remember the image policy on the living though!! All the best ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 11:45, 21 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

License tagging for Image:Margherita Buy.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Margherita Buy.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 12:09, 21 September 2007 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Los peces rojos.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Los peces rojos.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI 16:07, 22 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hi there. Why have you stopped using the rationale? Didn't I say about that you need to always use the rationale for film posters as you did before?? Otherwise they will be quite rightly tagged. What made you stop using this? ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 16:15, 22 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

You need to ensure you always use this rationale and add the appropriate licensing tag and don't upload any images of living actors that are copywrighted. other than this you can't go wrong!!! Good luck! ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 16:18, 22 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Welll you've done it to Image:Calabuch.jpg too. No rationale no licensing . Por que?? Can you be surprised if you get bot messages. Please as I said before be careful uploading to ensure you don't miss out these vital things . Adios ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 16:22, 22 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

I've just had to add the rationale to three images!! Really good work on the films but please remember to use the rationale as before. Is there any reason you stopped? ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 16:25, 22 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Perfecto. Keep up the good work in filling in the red links. If you could add those Zampa films to the lists some time this would be terrific. i've just been filling in American films of 1940 etc! ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 15:52, 23 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Vacaciones . Muy bien. ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 15:56, 23 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

If you can also can you add a cast section on new articles. This immediately informs the reader of the character names in the film also. But remember to change it to e.g Penelope Cruz as Arantia Santos not Penelope Cruz....Arantia Santos as the bot will copywright it! ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 15:59, 23 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hey nice going on all those new articles!! I see you have also learned how to tag film articles. If you could can you now see how to tag actor or film director articles. -this is a bit "mas dificil" but should be easy enough when you get used to it -I've tagged your new bio articles as so please add this on new pages in the talk -

bio|filmbio-work-group=yes|class=stub with a {{ }} around it.

Keep up the good work. Hasta luego ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 11:53, 29 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Of course London has HMV etc etc which sell DVDs and I'd imagine it hasmany bookshops which cater for everything including cinema, but London is extremely expensive. London is like a different world, a one bedroom apartment in London would cost well over £1 million. Best place to buy dvds is ebay this is where I get mine from. ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 13:24, 20 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

You should check out ebay there are many films you can get cheaper than play.com ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 14:07, 20 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Yes ebay has a strict policy that of you sell pirates you can be removed from the site and investigated by the law. I should try to avoid Chinese imports but there are thousands of other dvds on there at ridiculously cheap prices and i have to say I've bought over 100 items from ebay and been happy with about 99% of them ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 14:11, 20 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hi Rohmerin. Just to let you know that the rationale template {filmrationale} is no longer valid for the bot -it will tag images anyway unless it has a full complete rationale. If you upload anymore imgaes in future could you copy the full written template in Image:Salvatore Giuliano film 1962.jpg. All you need to do is copy the whole thing here and to change to the title the image is used on and whether it is a poster/dvd or screenshot. This way it stops the bot from tagging images so we can keep them long term. Once you get into the habgo fusing this template by copying and pasting you can copy off other images etc. If you ever need the rationale templates go into my user page and in my box click screenshot or poster or what ever you want when uploading new images ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 10:57, 25 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

For deceased actors click here and copy this and add the exact title where appropriate. When you get used to it you'll find it is even quicker and more effective than before ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 11:01, 25 October 2007 (UTC) For example see Image:La canzone dell'amore.jpg. ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 11:03, 25 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Esa pareja feliz.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Esa pareja feliz.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 06:31, 27 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Good job keeping the announcements updated and adding more films to the requested list! I would, however, like to ask a favor - could you perhaps be a little more attentive the editorial aspect - namely, keeping the entries alphabetical, spacing the bullets properly, adding italics for the film title articles, and piping the links to hide the parentheticals. Where to find Nunca Pasa Nada?

edit

Hello there,

I noticed to my great delight that you started the Wikipedia entry on the film "Nunca Pasa Nada". Long ago I saw an excerpt of this film on TV and want to see the whole thing. However, I have been unsuccessfuly trying to buy a copy of this film for over 10 years. I tried posting on IMDB, contacting specialist DVD shops, and going to a library of film history. As far as I was told, this film was never released on VHS/DVD and cannot be purchased in this way. I was told that traveling to Spain and visiting their national archives might be the only way of getting a copy of this film. Traveling to Spain is unfortunately unfeasible. Also the director and main actress have passed away, eliminating another possible point of contact.

Do you know how to get a copy of this film on DVD or VHS?

Hoping for an answer to my 10-year quest ;-) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 121.2.44.17 (talk) 02:12, 3 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Friends for Life

edit

I noticed that you had the page uselessly (IMO) linking to a Spanish title.

During my research of the Kenny Rogers album Vote for Love, I did a lot of research to find original sources for each of the songs that he covered. In my research, I stumbled upon Debby Boone and her discography and noticed that none of the albums had a Wikilink, so I decided to take a break from Rogers and see how many of those albums I could Wikilink. Her album Friends for Life is a 4.5/5 album on AllMusic and, with the title being English to start with, I decided to give the page to that album. I just wanted you to be aware of my doings in case there was some kind of thing you needed to do since you created the original redirect.

If you think having a DAB for Friends for Life is better, by all means feel free to do so. Just fix the link in Boone's discography (and move the article, of course) to Friends for Life (Debby Boone album) (redlink ATM) should you choose to do that. =) (This might be better, in fact - another album by the same name exists, too.) You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

Orphaned non-free image File:HABANA BLUES.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading File:HABANA BLUES.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Skier Dude (talk) 08:19, 10 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

Unreferenced BLPs

edit

Hello Rohmerin! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 6 of the articles that you created are tagged as Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring these articles up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 7 article backlog. Once the articles are adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the list:

Fair use rationale for File:El amor brujo (1986 film).jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:El amor brujo (1986 film).jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ΔT The only constant 18:57, 8 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Giuseppe De Santis.jpg

edit

Thank you for uploading File:Giuseppe De Santis.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. SchuminWeb (Talk) 08:47, 19 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

ArbCom elections are now open!

edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
