Hi there. I see you've put Townsville up for nomination at WP:GAN. I haven't read it properly, but it looks in the right ballpark. One thing you're likely to come up against, though, is that the referencing isn't in great shape. The weblinks should ideally have something that identifies the publisher / source, and a retreival date, if nothing else. A lot of them only have the title of the webpage. For example, footnote 11 - the history from the Thuringowa City Council site - is in good shape, whereas most from number 38 onwards lack enough detail. I hope you'll be able to improve them. Ping me at my talk page if you have any questions. It'll probably be several weeks before a review comes along to do a proper review, so you've got a bit of time! regards, hamiltonstone (talk) 23:41, 19 September 2009 (UTC)
- I think there could be some improvement within the section of James Cook University. For example: Having read this section I am not sure whether the words "faculties" and "facilities" are correctly used in the following part of the relevant sentence:"...and extra faculties. The Veterinary Sciences undergraduate facility...."--Fox1942 (talk) 12:40, 23 September 2009 (UTC)
- This whole section was a bit under-emphasized, so re-did it.ROxBo (talk) 14:47, 24 September 2009 (UTC)

Hi there,
I must disagree with your assessment of this article. Instead of expanding it to an article of the same quality as Joel Selwood (the only featured article for Wikiproject AFL), I contend that your edits are stubbing it down. The introduction is meant to be a summation of the entire article body. The body of the article itself is a work in progress, which you could have perhaps looked into through the article history instead of cutting it all out in one edit. I'm not quite sure of your issue with the possessions table, as its presence in football player articles has been a non-issue in many other articles.
Perhaps next time it would be best to raise your concerns through the discussion section of the article instead of undoing a good portion of the article. Cheers, Boomtish (talk) 12:16, 22 September 2009 (UTC)
- Boomtish, I appreciate your sentiments and good faith. Before seeing this message I had already added the stats section back in, on reflection is adds to the article a lot. I see you are working on this article, was wondering about the "missing years" between port and captain. But regarding the intro - and all respect to the FA selwood - can I suggest Roger Federer as a better example. It is brief and a good intro rather than summary. Otherwise all the info- incl how his junior career went, is duplicated. Cheers ROxBo (talk) 12:34, 22 September 2009 (UTC)
- Hi there, I've actually begun adding in the missing years (as you noted) between his Port career and his captaincy from 2007 onward. But I understand your previous concern regarding its absence. Hopefully this can be resolved soon.
- Regarding which 'template' the article should follow, I still strongly believe it should stay in line with the majority of good articles/featured articles from Wikiproject AFL. I understand that many other articles, such as Roger Federer or Tim Duncan vary in content, structure, and length, but for consistency's sake, I believe all AFL-related articles should be similar. So with that said, I think a general basis has already been established with regard to lead length and content during previous good article reviews for AFL-related articles and the most recent featured article debate for Joel Selwood.
- I'm happy for you to perhaps take a look closer look at the Tom Harley article (and all its potential content and length issues) perhaps when it is more of a finished product and up for good article review. Perhaps then it would be easier and more constructive to take on board any of your concerns then and make any necessary adjustments. Boomtish (talk) 12:50, 22 September 2009 (UTC)

Facts and Citations
editHi there. You added the text "[[fact]]" in three spots in the article Australian property bubble. I am guessing you meant to leave "{{fact}}" instead? The first of these will show up like this: fact, the second wil look like this: [citation needed]
I've taken it off for now. I don't usually expect to see citations in the lead. If there is something in the lead that is not otherwise supported in the text, you can use the tag {{Citation needed (lead)}}. It will look like this in the text: [not verified in body]
cheers --Thepm (talk) 10:05, 10 April 2011 (UTC)
- Not sure I understand your posting on my talk page, to the effect that "lead paragraphs" to articles do not require citations. I don't think there are any paragraphs in wikipedia that should not be supported by appropriate citations. I am not going to add the Fact tag, to avoid an edit war, but would appreciate if you could add appropriate citations. Cheers ROxBo 11:33, 10 April 2011 (UTC)
- Ah, maybe I was a bit hurried and didn't explain well enough.
- Lead paragraphs are considered to be a bit different to the body. Leads are usually written at a greater level of generality than the body. It means that quite often, lead paragraphs do not require citations so long as the information in the lead is well referenced in the body. It's not a hard and fast rule, but if you can avoid citations in the lead, I find it makes for a more readable introduction to the article. You can read more about it at WP:LEADCITE.
- In this specific case, I deleted your entry because you had used "[[fact]]" rather than "{{fact}}". Please don't take that as some sort of challenge, I just wasn't sure what you wanted there, but it was clear that what was there was wrong. I think the points you wanted citations for have been addressed in the body of the article, but that's just my opinion. If you disagree, then by all means, add the "{{fact}}" tag wherever you think it's needed (I have added a bunch of them in the body).
- Also, if you have some time to help clean up this article, it certainly needs it! cheers --Thepm (talk) 22:36, 10 April 2011 (UTC)
- I respectfully disagree - I selected random 5 articles with >5 references and 4 of 5 have referenced intro paragraphs. I think it is usual in well developed articles. Sorry to post here again, but not sure if you watch elsewhere. Last comment from meROxBo 13:26, 13 April 2011 (UTC)
- Hi Roxbo - yes, I watch here. I will until I don't need to.
- Appreciate that you disagree, but I'm not sure what with. The policy? In any case, as I said, if you still feel that cites are needed in the lead of that article, please feel free to leave the {{fact}} tag.
- On a completely separate matter, your sig doesn't leave a link back to you talk page. Is that deliberate? If you sign with 4 tildes = "~~~~" - it comes up automatically??? cheers Thepm (talk) 13:34, 13 April 2011 (UTC)
- Not sure why it doesn't go to talk page. Sorry for inconvenience. Did I miss a ~ I wonder?

propose merge from Adelaide–Crafers Highway to South Eastern Freeway
editAs a past editor of at least one of the articles, you may wish to comment at Talk:South Eastern Freeway#2015 Merge proposal for a new proposal to merge these two articles as it appears the government now considers it to be all one road. As there will be quite a bit of work, I decided to consult before being bold. --Scott Davis Talk 22:29, 1 April 2015 (UTC)

You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
