PS3/Motorstorm

edit

Hey! I noticed you were looking to get these two pages up to featured article status! I would like to help with both. But Motorstorm looks like the most needs doing, so I'd be happy to help with that first! I was just contacting you, as I thought you may have some plans for what you wanted doing to the page. So basically, do you have any specific things you want me to try and do to the page (i.e. a to do list) or shall I just go about editing, citing etc. the best I can? Thanks, Asics talk Editor review! 22:23, 16 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:Ajmorre.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Ajmorre.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. Alaibot and A.J. Moore Academy

edit

It's been adding it because it doesn't have a category (and you've been removing the "uncat" tag, which would otherwise cause it to be skipped by the bot on subsequent runs). If you use the syntax [[:Category:Plants]], that just adds a link to the category page, it doesn't add the article to that category. You want to use the [[Category:Plants]] syntax, which does do so. (Though ideally, one would try to find a more appropriate category than the one you added the link to...) Hope that helps. Alai 16:41, 17 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Locorocobox.jpg)

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Locorocobox.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. Stub types

edit

Sorry, I've seen an Xbox before but I did my best to repress it (it was very traumatic). The image you wish to use is TOO BIG for a stub template, it would cause an unnecessary strain on servers and take a long time to DL (on an otherwise tiny article, a stub after all). This would be a big deal to people like me, that often read Wikipedia on their phones. I do like the pic though, perhaps a smaller version could be uploaded specifically for use in the stub type? I left a request for Shadowfyre to make new icons, but I don't know if Shadowfyre is actually doing it. CVG stubs generally have icons around 32px, and anything bigger would run the risk of removal in favor of the generic SNES controller icon WP:VG is so fond of. But if a better icon can be found that is reasonably small and looks good at 32px, by all means change it. ~ JohnnyMrNinja 06:06, 26 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Warhawk (disambiguation)

edit

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Warhawk (disambiguation), and it appears to be very similar to another wikipedia page: Warhawk. It is possible that you have accidentally duplicated contents, or made an error while creating the page— you might want to look at the pages and see if that is the case.

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. CorenSearchBot 14:26, 9 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Blu-ray

edit

Hi, sorry I wasn't able to reply earlier(I was in Chicago for a couple of days). Anyway, about the Blu-ray WikiProject, If you do want to start it, then by all means go on, but I don't think the WikiProject can survive as of now, because the Blu-ray format hasn't been established as the main HD disc. By the way, I also think the project might be too broad covering Blu-ray companies, etc, you should stick with Blu-ray-related articles and Blu-ray movies. --EfferAKS 20:48, 10 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Non-free use disputed for Image:Warhawkservers.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Warhawkservers.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

Fair use rationale for Image:Spiderman3bluray.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Spiderman3bluray.jpg.

Image source problem with Image:Spiderman3bluray.jpg

edit

Image Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading Image:Spiderman3bluray.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 01:48, 15 January 2008 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. jonny-mt 01:48, 15 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Playstation project

Another editor has added the "{{prod}}" template to the article Playstation project, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the editor doesn't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and has explained why in the article (see also Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Notability). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia or discuss the relevant issues at its talk page. If you remove the {{prod}} template, the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Re: pics

edit

I'm just using Microsoft Paint and Microsoft Photo Editor. I found some images on the internet and modified and added them together. For example, the "sunburst" thingy is actually a picture of the space shuttle's robotic arm with the sun in the background. I just cropped the sun part of the pic and overlayed the Xbox logo thingy (with white as transparent) over the top of the cropped pic. Then I added a dark shade of blue to the right side and used Paint's "airbrush" feature to blend the right side of the pic into the dark color. I then matched the color with the "div" background so that the pic will look ok no matter how big your computer moniter is. Do you have any suggestions for graphics for the PlayStation project? I'd be hapy to help out. (I've already been maintaining the PlayStation Portal). Regards. Thingg 00:55, 6 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

I'll give it a shot, but it may take me a little while to come up with something that is related to PlayStation but also is not a derivative work. Peace. Thingg 01:14, 6 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
edit

I made a potential logo, and I was wondering what you thought about it. (posted on Wikipedia talk:WikiProject PlayStation) With the Xbox project, I could easily construct a free logo because of the generic, uncopyrightable "X" and circles used in the Xbox logos. In this case, the "PS" logo is unique to PlayStation products and a free image cannot be constructed because it would fall under derivative works. This is the best I could come up with that is defiantely free. Thingg 18:21, 6 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading Image:Psproject.JPG. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 20:55, 6 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Spiderman3bluray.jpg)

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Spiderman3bluray.jpg.

You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 04:27, 8 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Opm COVER.jpg

edit

Thank you for uploading Image:Opm COVER.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it might be deleted by adminstrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 15:32, 8 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Duplicate Image:Needwork.JPG

edit

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Image:Needwork.JPG, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Image:Needwork.JPG is a duplicate of an already existing article, category or image.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Image:Needwork.JPG, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. Given Wageslaves recent conflict with other editors, aswell as recent biased editing. Wageslave has a noted history of pro Xbox 360 writing, which is generally at the expense of, or overlooking of the facts and or relevant information. Thanks for uploading File:Ajmorre.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. Even if you created the image yourself, you still need to release it so Wikipedia can use it. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you made this image yourself, you can use copyright tags like {{PD-self}} (to release all rights), {{self|CC-by-sa-3.0|GFDL}} (to require that you be credited), or any tag here - just go to the image, click edit, and add one of those. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by STBotI. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 16:20, 28 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Portal:Blu-ray/Community

edit

A tag has been placed on Portal:Blu-ray/Community requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section P1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a portal which would be subject to speedy deletion if it were an article.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.
