Fair use rationale for Image:NotreDameSeal.png
editThanks for uploading or contributing to Image:NotreDameSeal.png. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. Disputed fair use rationale for Image:NotreDameSeal.png
editThanks for uploading Image:NotreDameSeal.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 08:00, 6 December 2007 (UTC)

Are you still in the South Bend area?
editDear PGP:
I am working on the Mesoamerican ballgame article and I am looking for a few good photos of ballplayer figurines. The Snite Museum on the campus of the University of Notre Dame has a nice collection of these figurines and so I am canvassing editors who might be in the area to see if they could snap some photos for me. Hence the question: Are you still in the South Bend area and would you be interested in heading over to the museum to take some photos??
Let me know, and thanks for your time, Madman (talk) 15:10, 12 December 2007 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Notre Dame Leprechaun.png
editImage:Notre Dame Leprechaun.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Thank you for the Gene Larkin HS references
editI noted at Chaminade High School today that there was no reference that Larkin graduated from there. Thank you not only for referencing it there, but also for referencing it in the Gene Larkin article! University of Notre Dame
editHi, since you are pretty much the only person who has been improving the University of Notre Dame article somewhat consistently (most of the other edits lately have been vandalism and reverts) I wanted to let you know that I had been working on improving the article on a subpage of my user page. I mostly integrated the lists into prose and added some sections and referencing. Anyway, I think I integrated everything from the article into my "improvements", but might have missed something somewhere if you are working on the page again. I just wanted to let you know. Phydend (talk) 15:53, 2 January 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for letting me know. I was going to post eventually asking if people thought it was up to Good Article standards, but never got around to doing it. Phydend (talk) 16:00, 7 February 2008 (UTC)
- Hey, I'm going to nominate it for the Good Article status since the page is under such a large backlog that it might take a long time for it to be reviewed. It has been expanded slightly since you messaged me about it, so it might need to be improved, but hopefully the reviewer will list any problems. Phydend (talk) 16:55, 20 February 2008 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (Image:ND Wordmark.png)
editThanks for uploading Image:ND Wordmark.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. Speedy deletion of Image:NotreDameSeal.png
editA tag has been placed on Image:NotreDameSeal.png requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section I1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on [[ Talk:Image:NotreDameSeal.png|the talk page]] explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Image source problem with Image:NotreDameSeal.svg
editThanks for uploading Image:NotreDameSeal.svg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 09:02, 21 September 2008 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Rockfang (talk) 09:02, 21 September 2008 (UTC)
Boston Latin School Alumni
editHello, I am wondering why you removed two of the School's better-known alumni: architect Richard Morris Hunt and his brother Leavitt Hunt? These two fellows were interesting people, and both pioneers in their fields -- one in architecture; the other in photography. Regards,MarmadukePercy (talk) 07:51, 11 December 2008 (UTC)
- I am not a BLS alum (Phillips Exeter here), but I will happily provide sources for these two men, who were both quite prominent -- and a credit to their alma mater. It will probably be tomorrow before I do. Regards,MarmadukePercy (talk) 07:58, 11 December 2008 (UTC)
- Greetings again. Thanks for adding Richard Morris Hunt. I have attempted (not sure of format) to re-add his brother Leavitt Hunt. (I have appended source, which is the Catalogue of the Boston Latin School, Established in 1635, With an Historical Sketch, by Henry F. Jenks, published by the Boston Latin School Association in 1886. (I added a link to the book on archive.gov, although I know I've seen the text on google books as well, and am attempting to locate it there because it'll make for easier reading.) If you'll notice, the Leavitt Hunt I am adding was originally called 'Henry Leavitt Hunt, afterwards Leavitt Hunt,' as the BLS book puts it. It's the same fellow, son of Congressman Jonathan Hunt, and brother of Richard Morris Hunt, whom you've already added. Thank you.MarmadukePercy (talk) 22:03, 19 December 2008 (UTC)
- Here is the original citation, courtesy googlebooks, of Leavitt Hunt listed in the Catalogue of the Boston Latin School from 1886 (original page): [2] I will attempt to insert it in the proper place on the Alumni page, but I've been having some trouble getting that to come out right.MarmadukePercy (talk) 22:44, 19 December 2008 (UTC)

Hello again, I added some things to the lede to give the BLS credit for its graduates in the arts. Might you consider adding a photo of Richard Morris Hunt to the piece? (His photo is on his wiki entry.) The man was the first American graduate of the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris, designed the facade of part of the Louvre, and subsequently became one of the preeminent architects in American history, as well as the founder of the American Institute of Architects and the Municipal Art Society. I think he'd make a sterling poster child for the arts graduates of BLS. Regards,MarmadukePercy (talk) 04:02, 28 December 2008 (UTC)

Boston Latin School Alumni
editHello, I'm wonder why you are removing names from the list: Burton Malkiel, Jonathan Jackson - Del to Cont. Congress... too many to name. A simple Google search [3] Or [4]... will bring up solid citations for the uncited ones. If you cannot find citations, why don't you simply assume bona fides, and keep the names in the list and comment them out?
Your list edits are good, but the point is to add, not subtract. The way you are doing it, by omission, is destructive and unhelpful. -Sixtyenjoy3423 (talk) 01:09, 15 December 2008 (UTC)
- You have deleted Burton Malkiel. I cannot find it in the source, am I missing something here? More over the pursuit for the featured list status is fine. But why don't you do so by striving to add citations to uncited names rather than simply deleted the uncited ones. That seems like cheating. Sure it's more work, but isn't that the point of featured lists???-Sixtyenjoy3423 (talk) 01:39, 15 December 2008 (UTC)

Reviewer granted
editHello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, will be commencing a a two-month trial at approximately 23:00, 2010 June 15 (UTC).
Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under flagged protection. Flagged protection is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial.
When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.
If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. The Rambling Man (talk) 17:39, 15 June 2010 (UTC)

Main Page appearance
editHello! This is a note to let the main editors of the article List of Boston Latin School alumni know that it will be appearing as the main page featured list on July 29, 2013. You can view the TFL blurb at Wikipedia:Today's featured list/July 29, 2013. If you think it is necessary to change the main date, you can request it with the featured list directors The Rambling Man (talk · contribs), Dabomb87 (talk · contribs) or Giants2008 (talk · contribs), or at Wikipedia talk:Today's featured list. If the previous blurb needs tweaking, you might change it—following the instructions of the suggested formatting. If this article needs any attention or maintenance, it would be preferable if that could be done before its appearance on the Main Page so Wikipedia doesn't look bad. Thanks! Tbhotch.™ Grammatically incorrect? Correct it! See terms and conditions. 18:44, 22 July 2013 (UTC)
Alumni of Boston Latin School, the first public school and the oldest existing school in the United States, have included four Harvard presidents, four Massachusetts governors, and five signers of the United States Declaration of Independence. Boston Latin School admitted only male students at its founding in 1635. The school's first female student was admitted in the nineteenth century. Admission is determined by a combination of a student's score on the Independent School Entrance Examination and recent grades, and is limited to residents of the city of Boston. Although Boston Latin runs from the 7th through the 12th grade, it admits students only into the 7th and 9th grades. Several preeminent architects, a leading art historian, a notable naturalist and the conductors of the New York Philharmonic and Boston Pops orchestras are all graduates of the school. There are also several notable non-graduate alumni, including Louis Farrakhan (pictured), leader of the Nation of Islam.

WikiProject Notre Dame
editHello Pgp688, I just wanted to thank you for your work for the WikiProject Notre Dame. I am currently making an effort to revamp it and improve all articles. I was wondering if you could help out, since any and all help is needed. If you want, you can check out the To Do list for the top priority, or take your own initiative and work on what's needed the most. The top priority articles in bad condition, like the colleges or the grotto, need a lot of help too. Additionally, photos or translation in other languages are also great.
Best and thank once more for your work on Wikipedia, Eccekevin (talk) 02:40, 16 July 2019 (UTC)
