Image thiefingarden.jpg deletion at commons

You said "The problem is that in taking the photograph you have infringed the copyright in the design shown on the screen and also the printed cartoon figure at top left of the case. So, I am afraid the photograph is not free and cannot be hosted on Commons".

I'd just like to know if you think there is a real possibility of the copyright owners taking legal action against the commons just because someone else photographed a little machine they stopped making years ago. It's my machine and I made the picture, and I believe I tagged it with the right license, so I can't see how this is against the copyright. I mean, people will stop uploading pictures if they are deleted like this, it's ridiculous. However, thank you for your answer. I'd appreciate it if you could answer this in my talk page. Best regards.

File:Cladonia portentosa (Reindeer lichen).jpg

Misidentified?

Hi, I was wondering how certain you are that thus is C. portentosa? That reddish tinge would suggest to me that it wasn't- C. portentosa is more commonly a yellowish white, isn't it? I'm going off Grasses, Ferns, Mosses & Lichens of Great Britain and Ireland by Roger Phillips, and the other pictures in the Commons gallery. This is what I thought C. portentosa looks like. I don't know where your picture was taken, but I've not seen anything like that before. J Milburn (talk) 16:38, 1 March 2009 (UTC)

I am not a lichen specialist, and the identification was made based on the description and photographs in Frank S Dobson, Lichens: an Illustrated Guide to the British and Irish species. The photograph was actually taken in Norway, and I believe the colour arises from the fact that the lichen was saturated with water. However, I agree that most illustrations of this species show a light green colour, and even if my identification is right I have no objection to your replacement of the image in the corresponding article with one that shows a more typical specimen. --MichaelMaggs (talk) 23:35, 2 March 2009 (UTC)

Is this will be OK with you?

Hi, Michael. I added your image homeless man in Tokyo to Old age. I also added this info to Homelessness. I would like to nominate this image for English Wikipedia FP. This is a very powerful image, and the quality is very good. May I please ask you, if it will be OK with you, if I am to nominate the image? Thank you.--Mbz1 (talk) 15:52, 31 May 2009 (UTC)

Yes, feel free. --MichaelMaggs (talk) 22:05, 31 May 2009 (UTC)
Would you mind, if I am to write the article Homelessness in Japan as SpencerT suggested, or you'd rather do it yourself? Would you like to go on with the nomination, or you'd like me to withdraw or suspend it until the article is written? If I am to write this article, I might be done by tomorrow night, I hope. Thank you.--Mbz1 (talk) 19:56, 1 June 2009 (UTC)
I would be more than happy for you to do it. It is surprising that there isn't an article on this already. --MichaelMaggs (talk) 20:10, 1 June 2009 (UTC)

One way or another

but it looks like after all your image will be at the main page of English Wikipedia in DYK section. It is here now, so if nothing is changed it will be moved to the main page for 6 hours tomorrow or the day after tomorrow. I am sorry about FP nomination. The image is very strong and the quality is definitely good enough. Anyway... You took their opposes as a man :)
Best wishes, and good luck in everything you are up to, Michael. It was great to get to know you.--Mbz1 (talk) 20:03, 6 June 2009 (UTC)

Thanks Mila. --MichaelMaggs (talk) 21:55, 6 June 2009 (UTC)

DYK for Homelessness in Japan

On June 7, 2009, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Homelessness in Japan, which you created or substantially expanded. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page.
