A tag has been placed on Hugh Sung, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia per CSD g12.
Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not meet basic Wikipedia criteria may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as an appropriate article, and if you can indicate why the subject of this article is appropriate, you may contest the tagging. To do this, add {{hangon}}

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion. To do this, add {{hangon}}
on the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag) and leave a note on the page's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. ViperSnake151 21:15, 28 September 2007 (UTC)
Self-promotion
editHi there. I thought I'd pop in and let you know why you're being reverted and such. Basically, Wikipedia isn't a vehicle for self-promotion, nor is it good form to copy into it a chunk of self-written biography. If you are notable, and thus belong in an encyclopedia, others will note you -- Believe me, I learned this the hard way myself. --GoodDamon 21:20, 28 September 2007 (UTC)

License tagging for Image:Hughsungcolor.jpg
editThanks for uploading Image:Hughsungcolor.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:

Your recent edits
editHi, there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. On many keyboards, the tilde is entered by holding the Shift key, and pressing the key with the tilde pictured. You may also click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! --SineBot 05:06, 29 September 2007 (UTC)

a couple of things
edityou seemed to agree not to edit your article, but since then you've added another picture to it. Uploading pictures yourself is fine (more about that in a moment), but if you do, please mention the picture on the talk page, and don't add it to the article itself. If you completely avoid touching the article, people will respect that and it will be much better for everyone.
As for the images, you need to tag them with appropriate copyright notices, and, assuming you have copyright on those images, you need to give them some kind of free-for-use license, or they will be deleted. See WP:IMAGE and WP:IUP. Thanks — Timotab Timothy (not Tim dagnabbit!) 15:41, 29 September 2007 (UTC)
Hi Timotab - i put up the picture when one of the editors gave me permission to. i can't find the text where they indicated that now, don't know if it got deleted somehow? My apologies - i did ask before posting on the talk page and did receive an affirmative response. Sorry i can't seem to find the documentation for that permission - i'll try to be more careful in the future. Thanks for the heads up on that. Hughsung 16:59, 29 September 2007 (UTC)
- OK, thanks for the response. To avoid any misunderstandings, rather than seeking permission to make a mod to the article, it mght be better to ask someone else to do it. That helps avoid even the appearance of impropriety. — Timotab Timothy (not Tim dagnabbit!) 18:22, 29 September 2007 (UTC)
Hello Hugh!
editHello Hugh, I would like to take the time to write you a personal note, that just lets you know that I sincerely hope that you choose to stick around and help out the project. I began playing piano at age 4, on a huge Steinway grand, and I have a deep love of music (also play the flute, piccolo, and guitar), so I can relate at least a little, to your career and your hard work. I can also understand the frustration you must have encountered in the first day of coming here, and I respect how maturely and patiently you've handled yourself with the issues. I fully realize the sheer scope of the underlying guidelines and policies is staggering, and honestly, even after two+ years here, there most likely are policies and guidelines I have never heard of! I would honestly love to see you participate in some of the projects related to music, as your experience and knowledge would be so valuable, you would be a great asset to the project. I'd also like to offer myself as a "guide" of sorts, should you choose to stick around, someone who can help you through the confusion of so many policies and procedures, and show you where to get answers should you have questions. I hope you are doing well, and that you're able to join in some of the fun here at some point. (P.S. If you'd like to archive all the above notices, by moving them to a subpage such as User talk_Hughsung/Archive 1, feel free to do so, as those issues are now resolved) Cheers! Response to ArielGold
editThank you so much for all your patience as i learn my ropes around here! It was kind of scary in the beginning and quite overwhelming, but you and your fellow editors have been more than gracious nonetheless and i deeply appreciate that! Just a quick question - will the article notice need to stay on much longer? I can understand if it needs to, just wondering. Also, i just want to make doubly sure no one gets mad if i move all of the above notices to a new subpage - last time i posted a picture on the article, i somehow lost the text where the editor gave me the green light to do so and someone else got understandably bothered after i had previously promised not to add anything else!
Take care, and i look forward to contributing more in the future! Hughsung
- I can give you full assurance that archiving your talk page is perfectly alright and even desired. If you're not comfortable doing it, just ask, and I'd be happy to archive all the notices for you. I have also gone ahead and removed the {{coi}} notice from the article. I actually think I meant to do that earlier, but forgot, so my apologies! I am just so glad that you've not let the initial rocky path deter you, and that you've joined some of the music projects. I realize that your time may be limited, and at times may not be around a computer, but just having you to help out when you can, would be really a great thing. And as always, let me know if you have any questions, you can ask on my talk page (click on my last name to go there) or you can ask here, but I'll probably notice something more if you ask on my own talk page, as I get the bright colored banner at the top, lol. Cheers! Ariel♥Gold 21:20, 1 October 2007 (UTC)
- If it's at all useful, feel free to borrow any code you like from my archives page. Or don't, if you want to do it a different way. -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 20:12, 3 October 2007 (UTC)
Welcome and enjoy
editI'd like to particularly thank you for contributing your images to Wikipedia under proper free licenses. This sort of thing can be very hard to find - artists and their agents can be understandably reluctant to release images of themselves under a license which relinquishes control. So thank you very much for this :-) If you know anyone else whose article has no picture or a placeholder, you might suggest they release just one good image - it's a top 10 site after all! - David Gerard 19:54, 3 October 2007 (UTC)
I thought you should know that your article is now in the WP:ICU. Kathleen.wright5 08:00, 4 October 2007 (UTC)
- Hugh, you can probably disregard this notice, the article was placed in ICU initially, but the issues were resolved as you know from our earlier discussions and work together, and the tag removed. I've added a note to the ICU page to let them know it is fully resolved and the COI issues are no longer present, as you're contributing via the article's talk page. Cheers, Ariel♥Gold 15:50, 5 October 2007 (UTC)
