Derivation of Mean
editWhen you rename m=n-1 and s=k-1 it seems to me that the limit of the sum changes to s=0 (lower bound) and m+1 (upper bound) so the ensuing sum is a sum over a complete binomial pmf plus an additional term. You've dropped a term in you sigma expression.
Please tell me why this is permissible since I have yet to see a valid derivation of this mean using algebra only.
