Surviving
editWhy did you move the listing off the VfD page? RickK 05:36, Jun 10, 2004 (UTC)
But won't we lose the VfD discussion if the article is deleted? Or are you planning of having orphan Talk pages floating around? RickK 05:42, Jun 10, 2004 (UTC)
Fixing VfD
editGood morning. I think the two of us share a desire to fix the VfD process. I have some thoughts that I'd like to share with you because I think you know a few technical tricks that I don't (okay, probably far more than "a few"). Is there an easy way that we could bounce a few ideas back and forth? Thanks. Rossami 13:39, 11 Jun 2004 (UTC) (AOL IM: mikerossander)
rename/move
editthe problem is that my skin didn't have the rename/move tool, so i didn't konw it. But then my standard skina is all in a nasty unreadable Impact font face , wich i have no idea how to change. I've seen your skin, how do you do it? damn, can I save the trouble of doing it and just download it from you?--Zero00 14:53, 11 Jun 2004 (UTC)
Full Nice Handbag Co
editAre you sure Full Nice Handbag Co should have been deleted? I don't think any consensus was reached on the vfd page. ☞spencer195 01:08, 12 Jun 2004 (UTC)
Thanks
editThanks for fixing VfD. I don't know quite what happened there, but my edit seemed to be what broke it! Andrewa 01:45, 12 Jun 2004 (UTC)
*shrug* That's fine. You clearly have had the more experience with the vandal, so I'm sure you're more than capable of delivering an appropriate time for blocking :) Dysprosia 02:59, 12 Jun 2004 (UTC)
2004 Atlantic hurricane season
editSorry. I was editing too fast and neglected to see that there is a year specific article in place. Now I agree wholeheartedly with you that the item is worthy of inclusion. I've reverted myself.--Jiang 06:02, 15 Jun 2004 (UTC)

List of Atlantic hurricane seasons
editDear Cyrius,
I hope you don't mind but I made an article that shows a list all of the Atlantic hurricane season names. See List of Atlantic hurricane seasons. I've also made articles of Tropical Storm Katrina and Hurricane Michelle.

Oops, I'm sorry for replacing the text of the copyvio. I didn't think of that (though I should have remembered). I assure you it wasn't out of spite. How should a copyvio listed on VfD be dealt with, correctly? Reply to my talk page and I will do what I can to correct the mistake. David Remahl 03:20, 22 Jun 2004 (UTC)
what's going on at meta?
editHi Cyrius, what's going on with these page moves at meta? Is that the Vandalbot? 62.214.89.90 07:03, 26 Jun 2004 (UTC)
- It was the vandalbot. Current MO for it is to move pages around on meta to semi-random titles. Moving them all back made a bit of a mess in recent changes, but if you go back far enough you can see the original vandalism moves.
I'm an ex-user taking a little vacation from my retirement. Good to see Wikipedia thrive, but I'm afraid that's about all I can say for now. Nice day, 62.214.89.90 07:50, 26 Jun 2004 (UTC)
Elvis Presley trivia
editHi Cyrius, I just deleted Elvis Presley's influence per consensus and in th deletion debate for that article you listed the above trivia page as another possible candidate. Because of the intricacies of this debate I feel you ought really to list that separately under a new heading at Votes for deletion. Cheers. -- Graham ☺ | Talk 00:42, 1 Jul 2004 (UTC)
- Actually it may be worthy of mentioning that the trivia page is just a direct copy of the enduring legacy section I've just retored to the original Elvis Prsley article. Just thought you'd like to know (though you can probably tell just by looking at it). -- Graham ☺ | Talk 00:49, 1 Jul 2004 (UTC)
- Looks like Sean Curtin got around to listing the additional Elvis stuff first. But then, you already knew that. -- Cyrius|✎ 04:43, 1 Jul 2004 (UTC)
- Yes I saw that only after I left this message here. Have you also seen the listing by Marcus2 on Wikipedia:Votes for undeletion? -- Graham ☺ | Talk 13:37, 1 Jul 2004 (UTC)
9/11 Victims "spree"
editI guess it did look like a purge. I was trying to work backwards from one that was moved and to clean up the now-dead links. Discovered several pages of victim lists with links to lots more victim pages. I just started checking them for consistency with the current "notability" standard and got carried away. Before I knew it, it was 3 am. Rossami 02:32, 1 Jul 2004 (UTC)
Cyrius, I have done an article on Cape Verde-type hurricanes. It includes such information as notable Cape Verde hurricanes and the longest lasting hurricanes on record (since some long-lasting hurricanes are actually Cape Verde hurricanes, anyway). It took me an hour to find enough information on these types of hurricanes, but as you can see from the article, I managed.
By the way, the IP address on the history page is mine. :^)

Hollywood Jam
editHi! I have made some test edits to the article entitled "Hollywood Jam." Anyway, I was just testing to see where the history to this article went. Anyway, I looked at the previous history for the VFD page, and it seems to me that although this didn't appear on television, there is a grain of truth to it that it is an existing club with voice actors in it. I think it was mentioned on one site other than fuzzy.com when it was talking about the TV Guide's top 50 cartoons list. Could it be that the site was mistakenly posting false data? Marcus2 10:54, 3 Jul 2004 (UTC)
- THe history of the article went into the (rather unstable) deleted revisions archive, where it's only visible to admins. As far as there being any truth to it whatsoever, no one is going to believe it unless there's some rock-solid references backing it up.
- So far, the only reference for this existing is voices.fuzzy.com, and that site doesn't even list Hollywood Jam any more, as the administrator decided the database needed cleaning up. They've had a run of people posting false and/or profane information.
- If you have some need to see what it was, I can provide you with a copy. But I'd prefer that Hollywood Jam just go away. -- Cyrius|✎ 19:41, 3 Jul 2004 (UTC)
I believe I have seen one other website metioning it. It was talking on the subject of something to do with voice actors. Thank you for showing me your view though. Marcus2 00:57, 4 Jul 2004 (UTC)
- The short of it is that if it had in fact been made, there would have been reliable sources about it everywhere. It's not something that the animation nerds would have overlooked. Plus there's the implausibility factor. Like Disney would really let Mickey Mouse share a screen with Bugs Bunny, Homer Simpson, and both Beavis and Butt-Head. -- Cyrius|✎ 01:26, 4 Jul 2004 (UTC)

Fruitcake
editI see you and I and have a few similar interests. Engineering, Hurricanes, Texas, and possibly fruitcake. Have you ever tried the fruitcake from the Collin Street Bakery in Corsicana? It is actually good. It is mostly pecans with a little batter to hold them together. Call me crazy. H2O 22:11, 10 Jul 2004 (UTC)
- I'm not a big fan of fruitcake, although I don't have the hatred for it some people do. I wrote fruitcake mostly because it was listed on Wikipedia:List of encyclopedia topics as not existing, and it seemed like an easy enough subject to get a stub written on.
- I've never spent any significant time in Corsicana, so I wasn't even aware of the bakery. If you're knowledgeable enough about it, you might want to add a mention to the article on the city. It's a spartan Ram-bot stub at the moment.
- I'll keep it in mind for the next time I'm passing through the area though. -- Cyrius|✎ 22:23, 10 Jul 2004 (UTC)
I did add a little note about the bakery. I found their website and after reading their history I'm not sure they don't deserve their own article. Check out their customer list. [2]
- If you do decide to write an article on Collin Street Bakery, be careful to include plenty of historical information and reasons it's notable. You wouldn't want it deleted as an ad. -- Cyrius|✎ 04:49, 11 Jul 2004 (UTC)
Good advice. Mr. "Bluccleuch" failed to do that, didn't he. Good grief, who would write an ad like THAT. Probably just a fan that can't spell. H2O 05:03, 11 Jul 2004 (UTC)

Yes, I read about this tag. After I cleared the page I was wondering "what is the proper way to get rid of such execrable material?", so I looked it up. Thanks for the tip anyway -- Andrew Kepert 07:42, 12 Aug 2004 (UTC)
Cyrius wrote:
Please, please, please don't create articles for weak storms that haven't done anything, and aren't likely to! The main reason for the season articles is to allow for descriptions of these storms without requiring separate article for storms where the article would be "Formed in the Atlantic. Reached hurricane strength. Didn't hit anything."
I'm going to make a disambiguation page at Hurricane Danielle and redirect Tropical Storm Danielle to it.
Please don't, that article will help people who are looking for information regarding the chronology of events of that storm. Regardless if it hit land or not. —John | Talk 20:33, Aug 14, 2004 (UTC)
WikiProject: Texas proposal
editThere has been alot of talk on the Texas talk page about a History of Texas article. I think this is an ideal time to propose an idea I've had for a while now: a WikiProject: Texas. Texas is one of the most diverese, some might say divergent states in the U.S.. Historically Texans have assumed that their part of the state is entitled to speak for all of Texas, which of course has led to bad feelings in the past for various reasons. I think it would be great if some of the Wikipedians interested in Texas formed a WikiProject dedicated not only to ensuring that Texas is presented holistically but also dedicatd to making wikipedia have the best resources on Texas on the web. I would like your opinons on the proposal and also see if you are interested in participating if the project is formed. -JCarriker 03:47, Aug 15, 2004 (UTC)
- The project has been created please review the page and sign up as a participant.-JCarriker 05:17, Aug 15, 2004 (UTC)
Hurricane Charley
editHey, I got the radar picture "live," while preparing to hunker down myself. Luckily it went to the west of me towards Orlando, but I lost a tree in my yard. Quite an experience!! Awolf002 16:23, 15 Aug 2004 (UTC)
Templates, Hurricanes
editI tried introducing templates before I realised exactly what was going on. When I did finally catch up - I ended up reverting myself. I should've known that you already had it figured optimally :). To my mind those red links to 2006 etc are fine just to provide a consistent look across pages - even though from a content point of view they are irrelevant. Pcb21| Pete 20:47, 16 Aug 2004 (UTC)
Sigh...
editSo close to being able to clean up messes, yet so far. Thanks for the nice note. At least I can truly say that if it was a simple majority that could decide the issue, I'd have won.
