welcome & note

edit

Hi, welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed you made a lot of edits to Korean history related articles.

Please note that Wikipedia is supposed to consist of content from reputable, verifiable, neutral sources. See WP:NPOV, WP:NOR, and WP:V. We cannot add the views of a disputed minority as if that were the mainstream consensus. Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks. Appleby 05:30, 18 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

You can avoid reverts by providing citations to your sources in brackets [ ] after your statements. Don't worry about formatting if you don't know yet. For information difficult to find in English, I've found that the Korean encyclopedias at Daum, Naver, and Yahoo Korea to be very helpful. Appleby 05:34, 18 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Discuss and provide your sources at the talk pages of the articles, please. Thanks. Appleby 05:39, 18 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Manchuria article

edit

Hi, Breathejustice, the sources you sited in the Manchuria article are from a Korean website that is neither reputable nor does it has anything to do with Manchuria. Why don't you find articles from the Encyclopædia Britannica or Columbia Encyclopedia... to cite? When you are talking about a region that has been inhabited by many ethnic groups over the years, it is not wise to quote from just one region's perspective. It should be objective not subjective. --Godardesque 03:50, 19 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

License tagging for Image:Gando2.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Gando2.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 06:05, 23 July 2006 (UTC)

Gija

edit

None of my comments were about Gija... I have therefore no idea why you deleted them. So I just restored the information, most of which I have actually taken and summarized from Yi Ki Baek's "Kuksa Sillon" and "Hanguksa Sillon". Easy for you to look up, if you wish to do so.

As for the Gija and Wiman controversies, they are amply quoted as such (improbably hypotheses)in a number of books, including the aforementioned Kuksa and Hanguksa sillon, I don't see why we wouldn't bring them up on wikipedia, even if, yes, I personally think of them as myths, or "alterations" of real history by Chinese historians, but after all, the sense of history-writing was very different back then. Shogo Kawada 02:43, 24 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

please discuss your references (to modern scholarly works, not your interpretations of ancient source materials). i actually agree with your concerns, but wikipedia is not the place for your or my opinion. we simply describe the majority view, and any significant minority views, as they exist in reputable scholarly sources. i and others are not trying to oppose you, but your points can be made more effectively by citing proper sources and following wikipedia policy. please let people help you contribute to wikipedia. Appleby 23:39, 24 July 2006 (UTC)Reply
Once again, some of the information you deleted (including mine) had nothing to do with Gija. As for Yi Ki Baek's being old, it's hardly a valid argument and quite beside the point. The Samguk Sagi is still quoted as a major reference and it's not exactly a recent text... Shogo Kawada 19:51, 26 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

I don't know what makes you think I don't know the current research on Korean history... sigh. Shogo Kawada 23:19, 26 July 2006 (UTC) One thing I know, though, your additions/comments are unreferenced. That is a problem. If you actually referred to a book, then maybe we could discuss things. Unspecified source for Image:삼조선.gif

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:삼조선.gif. I notice the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this file yourself, then there needs to be a justification explaining why we have the right to use it on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you did not create the file yourself, then you need to specify where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the file also doesn't have a copyright tag, then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. John Smith's 20:00, 22 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:삼조선.gif. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me, or ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. John Smith's 20:00, 22 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Welcome, and thank you for experimenting with Wikipedia! Your test worked, and thank you for reverting or removing it yourself. The best way to do tests in the future would be to use the sandbox. You can look at these pages as well: how to edit a page, the tutorial, and how to write a great article. All of these pages are good places to start. Again, welcome, and I hope that you will like Wikipedia.

Straw Poll

I just wanted to inform you and all of your sock puppet accounts that I have created a Straw Poll survey on the Jin Dynasty page. This survey concerns whether your Korean info should stay on the page. If the overwhelming vote is to delete the info, it will be. If not, it stays. Please vote on the survey and make your opinion known. Thank you. (!Mi luchador nombre es amoladora de la carne y traigo el dolor! 06:52, 8 September 2006 (UTC))Reply

I noticed that you reposted that Korean info as soon as I ended the straw poll. Just because the poll has ended doesn't mean you can just put whatever you want on the page. The straw poll is the "nice way" of dealing with you. You can get in trouble if you continue to add false information after it has ben voted off the page! I see that you have been blocked from editing because of the "3 reverts" rule. If your are not careful, your account will be deleted by adminstrators and you won't be able to edit any of the Jin, Jurchen, Manchurian, or Korean articles because they will be protected from "outside" users. Please stop. (!Mi luchador nombre es amoladora de la carne y traigo el dolor! 22:04, 24 September 2006 (UTC))Reply

Orphaned non-free image (Image:Manchu.jpg)

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Manchu.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 11:18, 20 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion of 伊逊河

edit

A tag has been placed on 伊逊河 requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. File permission problem with File:Bipabronze1.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading File:Bipabronze1.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to [email protected], stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to [email protected].

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 21:37, 5 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Shinsi

edit

The article Shinsi has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

This article is a long article on a place mentioned *in passing* in the Samguk Yusa as existing in the time when a mythical ancestor descended from heaven. It's the definition of non-notable and it looks like the talk page has questioned the reason this page exists for *years*.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Nomination of Shinsi for deletion

edit

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Shinsi is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Shinsi until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article. Ogress smash! 06:52, 13 August 2015 (UTC)Reply
