Image copyright problem with Image:Darren_Aronofsky.jpg
editThanks for uploading Image:Darren_Aronofsky.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:

Hi David. The text you added to the Gavin & Stacey article was lifted directly from the BBC Three website, which is copyrighted material. That means that you can paste it into a Wikipedia article, as that violates copyright law. So please do keep adding content, but make sure that it's stuff you've written yourself, not stuff you've "borrowed" from elsewhere! Let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks, CLW 20:21, 22 May 2007 (UTC)

editThanks for reading. Beware of the spoilers, though. Sometimes I'm a prick about letting the ending go when I feel like ranting about it.Robixsmash 21:36, 10 June 2007 (UTC)
==Jack Barwell==
A tag has been placed on Jack Barwell, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.
Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. If you plan to expand the article, you can request that administrators wait a while for you to add contextual material. To do this, affix the template {{hangon}}
to the page and state your intention on the article's talk page. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. DarkSaber2k 10:53, 2 July 2007 (UTC)
Blocked
editIt appears that this account has been compromised and is being used for vandalism. AS a precautionary measure and to prevent further vandalism I have blocked the account until further notice. If you wish to request an unblocking or dispute the block, you may contest the block by adding the text {{unblock|your reason here}} Waggers 11:12, 2 July 2007 (UTC)

Request reason:
Hi there. I was at school, and my friends saw that I was logged in on my account, and being the annoying little bastards that they are ^^ they decided to vandalize a bit... sorry about this... I wouldn't like to be blocked, I do enjoy editing on wikipedia :)
Decline reason:
Hi there, could you please email at unblock-en-l at lists.wikimedia.org from the email address listed on your talk page to verify that you've secured your account once more. Thanks. -- Netsnipe ► 06:32, 3 July 2007 (UTC)
If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.
- Original unblock request was improperly formatted. This has been corrected. --Sigma 7 02:55, 3 July 2007 (UTC)
- I've contacted the blocking admin to request comments; in the meantime, please bear with us, and thanks for your patience. – Luna Santin (talk) 03:36, 3 July 2007 (UTC)
- Just a note to the blocking admin: given the pages which were targeted during the vandalism spree, the explanation does kind of hold up. See User:Black Mesa. Pascal.Tesson 03:38, 3 July 2007 (UTC)
- I'm more than happy with the explanation, it certainly looked that way from the contribution history. I think it's safe to unblock this user - we can always re-block if the vandalism restarts. I'll proceed with the unblock. Waggers 09:42, 3 July 2007 (UTC)
- Black Mesa, you're now free to edit again. Welcome back. Waggers 09:46, 3 July 2007 (UTC)

Barnstar
editHey, thank you for the barnstar! I didn't even notice it on my user page until today. I've moved it here, if you don't mind. What contributions of mine did you notice? If you ever have any questions about working on film articles, let me know, and I'd be happy to help out. —Erik (talk • contrib) - 15:34, 30 July 2007 (UTC)
- Ah, I see from your contributions that you were the one that responded to my The Fountain request at the ref. desk. Thank you for the link, though I was not really able to use it. I am looking for academic studies of the film similar to what's here. It seems that the film is too new for such studies yet, but I was trying to see if any had come out yet. —Erik (talk • contrib) - 18:22, 30 July 2007 (UTC)
- I understand now. :) I'm a cinephile myself, so I enjoy using Wikipedia to learn about films (especially upcoming ones) and to share that knowledge as well. Best of luck with your pursuit, and I hope to see you around! —Erik (talk • contrib) - 19:21, 30 July 2007 (UTC)
- I'll have to take a look when I get home -- I can't access YouTube at work! (I know, I'm editing at work... heh.) —Erik (talk • contrib) - 19:28, 30 July 2007 (UTC)
Where did you read about Cloverfield being shot in digital? I'd like to add a citation for that information; a group of editors and I are fairly strict about verifying new information at the film article due to a lot of added speculation. —Erik (talk • contrib) - 19:48, 30 July 2007 (UTC)
- I found the information at the existing EW citation used in the article and re-formatted the information. Hope you don't mind! Just want to back every factoid up. —Erik (talk • contrib) - 19:56, 30 July 2007 (UTC)
- Web links are appropriate if they come from reliable sources. A lot of major media have their news online these days, so it's acceptable to use links from these. Of course, using IMDb forums as a link would not work. Thanks for the added bit, anyway! —Erik (talk • contrib) - 20:50, 30 July 2007 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:0345486218.01._SS500_SCLZZZZZZZ_V1111852300_.jpg
editThanks for uploading or contributing to Image:0345486218.01._SS500_SCLZZZZZZZ_V1111852300_.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Videmus Omnia Talk 01:15, 4 August 2007 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of Spill (Website)
editA tag has been placed on Spill (Website) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for web content.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. скоморохъ 17:57, 11 March 2008 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:This is england film poster.jpg
editThanks for uploading or contributing to Image:This is england film poster.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
Your You Tube Videos
editAs you may be aware, YouTube has recently come in for criticism over it's handling of copyrighted works.
I note that you have a number of potentially interesting videos on You Tube that you link to from your user page.
Instead of supporting troubled proprietary sites, Why not support projects that value creative talent and assist in ensuring that a viewing public can enjoy and expand upon it?
Wikimedia Commons is one project that needs creative content (under licensing that lets people enjoy and expand upon it).
It would be much appreciated if you would consider migrating videos for which you are the copyright owner to 'open' formats like Ogg Theora, and moving them from 'failed' proprietary sites like YouTube to community sites like Wikimedia Commons, under an appropriate license. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 21:07, 5 July 2008 (UTC)
- Music you don't own the rights to would need replacing, and you should probably do this anyway,
there is a growing selection of usable Creative Commons music if you know where to look :) Sfan00 IMG (talk) 11:47, 6 July 2008 (UTC)
Video Notes
editAssuming you still have the original source footage (i.e MPEG's, AVIS, Quicktime etc.. and are able to replace the music with appropriately licensed/atrributed Creative Commons material,
The following page on commons will assist in getting video to OGV format:

WikiProject Films coordinator elections - voting now open!
editWP:FILMS Questionnaire
editAs a member of WikiProject Films, you are invited to take part in the project's first questionnaire. It is intended to gauge your participation and views on the project. At the conclusion of the questionnaire, the project's coordinators will use the gathered feedback to find new ways to improve the project and reach out to potential members. The results of the questionnaire will be published in next month's newsletter. If you know of any editors who have edited film articles in the past, please invite them to take part in the questionnaire. Please stop by and take a few minutes to answer the questions so that we can continue to improve our project. Happy editing!

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
