editPlease do not add promotional material to Wikipedia. While objective prose about beliefs, products or services is acceptable, Wikipedia is not intended to be a vehicle for soapboxing, advertising or promotion. Thank you. SFK2 (talk) 00:53, 29 August 2013 (UTC)
Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to add soapboxing, promotional or advertising material to Wikipedia, as you did at P90X, you may be blocked from editing. Eyesnore Summer! (PC) 02:25, 29 August 2013 (UTC)
This is your last warning. The next time you use Wikipedia for soapboxing, promotion or advertising, as you did at P90X, you may be blocked from editing without further notice. Eyesnore Summer! (PC) 03:00, 29 August 2013 (UTC)
Your additions are promotional because their purpose is to guide people to your website which sells a product. This is why people keep removing them so please stop adding them as it will only get you in trouble. Anarcham (talk) 03:06, 29 August 2013 (UTC)
Not arguing here, I am really trying to understand this. Several of the citations do the same thing. As soon as you click on them, you get a "Buy XXXXX" If the information I am posting here is factually based, not promotionally based, then how is it any different? Again, not trying to argue, just trying to decipher the difference....and thanks for explaining.
If there are other promotional links hidden in articles then those should probably be removed as well. Can you point them out? Anarcham (talk) 03:11, 29 August 2013 (UTC)
Sure, this one is under the references for Chalean Johnson, just as an example. TurboJam. http://www.beachbody.com/product/fitness_programs/best_sellers/turbo_jam_maximum_results.do
You are correct that that link didn't belong there. I removed it along with the others which were promotional links. Were there any others? Anarcham (talk) 03:19, 29 August 2013 (UTC)
This is the other one of the top of my head ^ "P90X:MC2 Workout — The next P90X — Beachbody.com". Retrieved 9 February 2011. it is citation 7 on the P90X page. There are several throught anything related to Beachbody, pretty much because that is all beachbody is.
So, my questions is, can I not refernce ANYTHING to my website. For example, if I do a review of a product, but offer NOTHING promotion on that particular post, not even on the sidebars, but the information cited is just fact based...would that be ok? Part of my webiste is promotion, but part of it is purely informational. On those post, I can change the side bar widegets so nothing promotional is offered, as well as in the post themselves. Again, is that ok?
Beachbody actually makes P90X, right? For your other question, I think adding a link to your own website would be promotional in that the purpose would be for you to drive traffic to your own site. You can take the links in the warnings above and they explain a few things about what you can or cannot do vis a vis promotional material. Anarcham (talk) 03:36, 29 August 2013 (UTC)
- So what basically Anarcham is saying is; don't add links to your site as it would be promotional. Also adding content related to you is Conflict of Interest which is strongly discouraged. I'll advise you to read WP:NOTADVERTISING and WP:SPAM for more information. EuroCarGT 03:43, 29 August 2013 (UTC)
Ok, I think I understand now. As long as nothing is promotion in the information I provide AND to where the link goes to, then I should be okay. I appreciate your help, where others would not help. Airtyme2 (talk)
I don't think that is the case at all. You would be promoting your own website by adding links to your own website. Do you understand? Anarcham (talk) 03:46, 29 August 2013 (UTC)
yeah Anarcham (talk I posted the statement you are refering to before I read your last comment. It's all good now. Nothing related to my cite...got it! thanks Airtyme2 (talk
